Best Chased Poems
In the downy-soft hours, where dawn hovers near,
Night's uncovered dream, must disappear.
Once, delivered, then replaced,
Never to be traced,
Drifting on,
Chased,
By the dawn.
Fantasies misplaced,
Become silver clouds, erased.
Lost in forever, quite far from here,
In the downy-soft hours, where dawn hovers near

Inspired By Andrea's Contest: "An Invented Form"
Into the mist which settles upon the waters
Tempered elements connect and clash
Each vying for dominance within their domain
Lightning chases Thunder throughout forlorn skies
The harder she cracks her brilliant, whip the further he runs
In pain he roars through pitch black skies
Man stands in awe of the battle displayed
And the heavens hang low and cry pouring rain

Note: Inspired by "The perfect Storm" Very sad ending, yet, one of my favs.
CHASED or CHASTE?
There was once a young lady of taste
With desire to stay pure and quite chaste
She ran slow then fast
The result at last
She was chased, didn’t win, only placed

“Chased by the Fire”
the story
bald faced
is in front of us
all around the world, brutal
bridges are being burned
we watch with disbelief,
some of us seem to remember
familiar passages written, though
our experiences are quite unfamiliar
real time we escape
into our fragile dreams,
hallucinating through
perfumed smoke screens
we are comfortably
uncomfortable
ringing the bells
of our own chapters
writing our ethereal
burnt candy interpetations,
while others survive, baptised
in their harsh oceans
treading acrid smoke
across the water
swept away by
terrible rips in time
avoiding fins
heads above
the waterline, deeper
than a tide line
waving not sinking
Lahaina
visciously devoured
by the monster,
totally gone
children
looking for rainbows,
the church on the beach,
lost, looks on

“A third of the earth was burned up,
a third of the trees were burned up,
and all the green grass was burned up.”
He waits for me in my dreams each night
I hear his soft neigh when he catches sight
of me. I am only a tiny little slip of a girl
who sits on his back as we travel the world.
Into the stirrups then up to saddle of gold.
Around his powerful neck, my arms enfold.
A few times we circle while the music plays.
Up and down we gallop with blacks and grays.
"Hold on tight," he flicks his tail and we fly
off the carousel, all the way up into the sky.
Around the back of the moon, we chased a star.
Up and down all night, we journeyed afar.
Down to the meadow to greet the morning sun.
My carousel stallion and I have so much fun.
I've been holding on to his thick mane all night,
but now the sun is up and shining so bright.
We've been flying for hours; time to come down,
I promise to try my best not to frown.
It's time we return to your place at the park,
I'll be back in my dream when it's grown dark.
Handsome stallion of white, on my carousel,
where we go on our fantasies, I will never tell.

What Goes Up, Must Come Down Contest
by: Catie Lindsey
Chaste and Chased – dedicated to Eileen Ghali
Coy sideways glances at the man of your dreams
Holding hands in secret so nobody sees
Amazed more girls don’t act the way you do
Sex before marriage – no you want to remain pure
Total commitment to one man in your life
Even when you’re dating you remain so demure
Always ready to see some bedroom action
Never turning sex down its like some fatal attraction
Devotedly he now pursues
Chase begins with eager anticipation
His heart pounding and heavy respiration
Ardour inflamed by her beauty
She’s sublime and sexy, such a cutie
Eureka is his final thought
Dames sure are naughty when they’re caught

Limerick: Once crazy Coot in spring chased female Coot
Once crazy Coot in spring chased female Coot
She squawked and shrieked and refused the suit:
He dived and swam up close
Then bit her tail and rose:
Jumped, did his bit and didn’t give a hoot !

I Chased A Rainbow
I chased a rainbow across brilliant sky
I ran blinded without even asking why
Colors blasted my deepest thoughts apart
sky a shining rainbow did swiftly yield
a journey I flew into with a hurried start
chasing a work of art into a flowery field
So easy to feel the aura and singing hues
as I raced blissfully on my merry way
great mystery awaiting without any clues
a longing sent that my heart must obey
Diamonds and gold I did not ever find
a glory of mercies was what I found
love soon took hold of my lonely mind
as divine music gave out lovely sound
Dancing fairies next took their bows
as I scampered across and all around
ships appeared with such stately prows
golden anchors clinking on silver ground
I caught a rainbow Spirit with a plea
increase the love of precious life in me
Robert J. Lindley 07-28-2014
This came to me as I was waking this fine morn.
Lack of time to write it down , I mentally finished
it later today. I saw rainbow light as I woke this
morning. Methinks my Muse was shouting at me! lol
Being chased by a cheetah wakes you up fast.
You wonder what you did wrong in your past.
I saw it leap from a tree, and ran off so fast.
But it got me of course, dream was awful, I was aghast!
Chased by a Chihuahua by Radrook [ A childhood memory.]
O little Chihuahua so tiny but fierce,
why did you provide me with memory of fear?
Why must I recall you, pursuing galore,
until I could almost evade you no more?
How did I deserve all your bitterest ire?
Your rampaging anger, your hatred entire?
Could you not control all your fierceness just once?
and let me retire by luck or by chance?
Why did you continue a hunting me down,
and make me appear like a scared circus clown,
with eyeballs a bulging from out off my face,
and a heart that was pounding in utter disgrace?
Why not just permit me to go waltzing by
and rather go chasing some other quaint guy?
Why did I deserve that you come after me
so furiously fast and so persistently?
Oh little chihuahua so ready to bite,
with little dog body, so ready to fight
Why not let me pass? Why not let me be?
Why did you decide to begin hunting me?

Two summers passed, eight seasons gone,
since last I chased the bear;
I've dared not cross that bridge again
for fear he would be there
A final show of courage
or a silent cry of pain,
I cannot say what made me run
or whether I was sane
I only knew I'd stand between another
and a bear; though I cannot say, in truth
they ever knew the bear was there
They were chasing rays and rainbows,
they were chasing 'way their past,
they were chasing shots of poison
from a flask that couldn't last
Perhaps I thought that if I caught
the bear, he'd eat me first;
but that would just have made more time,
for them to quench their thirst
See, the bear was just a metaphor
and metaphors don't kill,
but chasing bears and poison
to put it plainly, always will
This isn’t make believe
Where you get to act in movie scenes
It’s real life to me
Seems like you’re programmed to leave
You’ve been nothing but a struggle
You make it hard for me purposely
Stand back and let me float away
Let go of me so you can flea
I miss being loved endlessly
By the kind of man who needs me
You just play games
And dangle the key
Disconnected team alliance
Our flags wave different ways
Sets fire to her defiance
Nods your right, but her heart is a blaze
Suffocating from swallowing fights
Kill the noise that fills her head
Jumping safety to fall from new heights
Burning from things you said
Wounded from wondering
You’re different in the wrong ways
Storm made it’s way thundering
Maybe after all, you are just a phase
Dig deep for the soul you stole
She was broken before
But you had to keep poking holes
Now she’s no more than a chore
Needed to lose a little sanity
To find that the salt mines don’t sting that bad
Curse that damn chemistry
Now drink the gasoline like a nomad
It seems
no matter the topic
Love's always
periscopic
pushing its little pink
nose
into a heart
purring its way
onto the surface
like sunlight nudging
a tropical sea
on the morning rise
Be them truth
or be them
momentary lies
love is a garden
of starry sighs
how we navigate
our dark
feeling chased
by a glare of day
Coy sideways glances at the man of your dreams
Holding hands in secret so nobody sees
Amazed more girls don’t act the way you do
Sex before marriage – no you want to remain pure
Total commitment to one man in your life
