Best Chaos Poems
I am like faded leaves,
beneath my frail feet,
failing your forbidden name
that crushed the petals of
blossoming hopes,
dusted with dark
obsidian nightmares,
enclosed in
seeds of discontent,
sprinkled by sleeping
black dragonflies,
resting on fruitless twigs,
in vales of solitude.
Perhaps nature too
feels the pain I’ve been
carrying when
invisible thorns pierce
my fragile heart,
to leave me bleeding epitaphs,
of dead dreams like
an endless waterfall,
streaming venomous words,
swallowed as bitter truth,
learned through brutality.
Here I am, writing a
letter from the grave;
in a casket of chaos;
like the flower I once
used to be,
lost and withered,
beneath clouds of misery.
But skies are no longer
my comfort, and the moon
has forgotten the
healing anthem.
Hell is empty
and all the devils
are here, strangling me-
mocking the dead,
with fiery chains of anger,
that shackle me,
as I lay my hair down,
on all the blood soaked
daggers that stabbed me.
So let me sway,
to the sanctimonious
rhythm of reaper’s rhapsody,
for pain is my testimony,
that I shall heed,
whilst fallen angels
chant across the
ceremony of betrayal,
allowing my fears
to rest in peace,
no longer having to
look back for a
final bullet from
the familiar faces that
deceived me in my
walk of faith,
as luminescent spheres
are full of astroblemes,
showing me how
destiny is not on my side.
And everything I love is burned
into timeless sands of
scars that still sting.
I don't know of anyone who's been successful
in an attempt to capture the encumbrance
of a love pledged and then withdrawn,
nor how to heal a heart from its fallibility.
So, I'm left wondering...
when did the shallow waters of intense love
become too deep to tread?
When did the waves thrash so powerfully
that I was unable to keep my head above them?
I was drowning in the chaos churning in my heart.
Tearful were my eyes in a state of mourning.
Weeping while bereaved and casting a silent plea.
Desperate in the need to escape the captive prison
when my heart was found guilty of gullibility.
Imprisoned by love's bars, unable to take flight,
I was the swan who had lost her mate,
without hope of ever wanting to fly again.
Broken vows are like wounded wings,
and therein was my heart's pitiable plight.
Is it never to be relieved of the agonizing ache?
In gloom of anguish, I gasped one last breath
before crossing the chasm between love and hate.
Too late to beseech my heart for help.
Spurned, it was lamenting over love's death.
Disconsolate, emotions in disarray,
I held a pressed rose he'd lovingly offered,
crushed it in my hand as if I were the flower.
With the power of penance, I reprimanded myself
for having trusted in the pledge of love.
I sacrificed the withered petals,
tossed them on the wind's wayward whims.
Niggled by the feeling of emptiness and loss,
I felt as if I'd just laid them on my own grave.
Ah, Wind, we've known each other so long.
While creatures run quickly from your side,
I've tried to find kindness in your song
but your howls become hard to abide.
You loudly roar blowing doors ajar,
trees bent weary by ceaseless pummel.
I hear your rumble, beginning far
announcing yourself, never humble.
Beneath blue skies, a rustle of leaves,
a gentle breeze stirring grains of sand.
Clever Wind sending Zephyr to tease
but we now know the tricks in your hand.
You can charm dust into whirling dance
spinning her round as dust devils fly.
Then do your best to spoil a romance
with your chuckle as they reach the sky.
Unmentionable tantrums and blows,
your foot stamping when you are annoyed.
Leveling towns, do you regret those
heartbreaks caused as you merrily toyed?
Sometimes forlorn, or is that a guise,
when quickly you stop, tempering voice?
is that sadness I see in your eyes?
With flashes of scorn, you make your choice.

“Special are the ones that see beyond veiled verses,
behind violet smiles, so much is spoken in silence, where cosmic chaos
are scattered amidst the twinkling constellation cracked into seething seas of raw madness”
I remember how I bathed
in the brilliant hue
of your silent shadows,
swirling in symphony
unscathed, across
silvery nights, as I decided
to slowly place
my trust again upon
kismet shooting stars~
perfumed with sins,
ferrying the sacred key
to my moonstruck
heart from afar.
But the gleaming rays
of celestial glows,
burnt into steel and dust,
guiding where your drizzling~
sharpened knife flows,
across my bleeding canvas
like a poetic downfall,
streaming crystal
tears upon us
to carve the edges
of unread chapters
with solemn epitaphs.
If only they could
feel the veiled truth behind
my eyes that speak
volumes, misunderstood
in vague dialects, echoing
through murky skies,
losing faith in humanity
within a hidden retreat~
as this world has taught
us raven phases
of lunar secrets
from somber tunes
of affection through
torment and deceit.
Yet time knew what
my mind couldn’t see,
flickering faith
seizing seconds few,
my lyrical haven finding me,
where dreams stew,
setting my rhymes free,
for I’ve learnt the art
of forgiving every neon lining,
scattered along seraphic
spheres beyond reach,
colliding cosmically
with implicit chaos,
oblivious to the wicked
tumbleweeds
of desire in wrath.
Silence the waves that hit the shore,
Silence the birds they call no more.
Silence the souls lost in night,
Silence echoes no more they fight.
Screams the waves that crash and break,
Screams that cause the thin air to shake.
Screams that tear the soul apart,
Screams that pierce to the heart.
Silently, the screams fill the air,
Screams rising from deep despair.
Silent screams, scream silently.
Silently I scream …. defiantly.
Here I go again, focused on myself.
Remembering, analyzing,
Memorializing tragedy.
Thinking, endless thinking.
Suicides, death of grandmas, past loves.
Pining about passions and losses.
The condo I had to let go.
The jobs I left behind.
And the cemetery lots.
My mind wonders around in circles.
From darkness to darkness, city to city,
Job to job, decision to decision
My children, I embrace with love.
Those years riddled with joys and pains.
Trying, always trying,
Yet, still disappointed.
Clinging to religion, remembering God.
Accepting –
Then, the child in me curls up
Safe in my warm cocoon,
And I think of you in the next room.
Life made new, fear subdued.
The touch of your hand, my confidence renews.
That forever love so long wanted, found at last.
The pressures I once knew moved to the past.
To the outside world I say adieu.
I was lost in the hollow of myself.
Outside of myself, I found peace.
Memories blot out urban chaos
And focus on woodland happy days.
Struggles not so painful anymore.
Peace found its hope in you.
…And then, we spoon.

A cousin named Chaos have I (he’s not actually my cousin. He’s like my aunt’s stepson, but I guess I can still call him a cousin, right?)
There’s nothing that he will not try (like the day he let all the chickens loose from the coop and they were running like chickens with their heads cut off. Isn’t that an expression or something? Chaos is crazy like those chickens were)
Since he follows no rule (He laughs at me because I try to write perfectly metered limericks and he thinks everyone should just write free and BE free in all they do.)
He got kicked out of school (it was so funny. He set off the fire alarm and all the kids were running every which way, much like those chickens he let loose in his barnyard. Now he is saying he wants to become an anarchist.)
So to anarchy school he’ll apply!
Gosh, he’s right. This limerick sucks. It’s much more fun having no restrictions, just letting my thoughts go anywhere I want them to take me, kind of like stream of consciousness writing or something. Too bad I can’t be all surreal-like, then I might make it into the newfangled modern poetry magazines. Most people don’t even consider limericks to be real poems. DANG it, I feel another one coming on.
Cousin Chaos, I now do hear tell
That you’ve found a new school, so learn well
Your anarchy ways.
In limerick phase
I’ll be stuck while you give people hell.
Crap. Even trying to write like Chaos, I just can’t do it. I just keep conforming to rules of poetry forms like limerick. I just know my cousin will be laughing his chicken head off when he reads this. Yeah, the old chicken motif again. Always relating things together. So much for Chaos! I’m outta here.

"I would rather be on a leaky ship that is mine, than aboard a more seaworthy vessel going where I don't wish it to go"—Poet's alter ego
Yes, I know what I’m doing
I’m the master of my fate
The captain of the sinking ship
Seeking harbor in ports whether safe or rocky
With gusto I plow through uncharted frontiers
Why do I do these things to myself? you ask
Perhaps I’m a rebel in search of what's unbeknownst
to me, in search of virgin long lost horizons pristine
Horizons others deem unreachable
I’m bold, brash and yeah sassy, brassy
And irrepressible! You can’t love me you see,
I’m a Lonewolf, and it's quite fine, to be…
Untamed as the wild northern wind
Sweeping the prairies with a gusting woman’s surge
Nature's raw elements try in vain to halt my advances
But I laugh and mock at Mother's efforts
Although I’m tossed and torn
In the grips of Her relentless tempests,
Her storms of fury suppressing, oppressing
Her stern and staid demands to obey, tame and domesticate
You may say I’m the constructor of my own chaos
A free-spirit, challenging myself
My integrity intact, place not your pity on me
Respect is my hallmark and independence,
my calling.
the crickets break the silence
of the still, dark night
the leaves stir in hushed waves
as the wind whispers past
the moon hides…
shy behind her veiled curtain,
she lets tears flow instead
no crickets chirp
the leaves weep
as the winds wail
and I—
I breathe in the chaos,
feel the cold
dampen the world
around me
but my spirit
for some reason
is refreshed
I guess
nature also needs to vent

thoughts lick at my consciousness
distracting me from the warm embrace
of the colour pallet unfolding
I stare with myopic eyes at the kaleidoscope
endeavouring to discern the demarcation
of the edge of each shade
naming them as though they are listed on a colour chart
displayed at the local hardware store
but as soon as I have one splash of tint pinned down
it fades to be replaced by a more pleasing explosion of colour
a child’s toy impatiently twirled
a rainbow snipped into a multitude of shapes
in never to be repeated patterns
like an uxorious husband
it enfolds the evening sky in its loving embrace
its fleece soft fingers exploring
lulled into a unison of consent
with a barely perceptible rush of contentment
a slight sibilant sigh issues
memorialising daylight
clinging to the fringes of observation
the scene depicts its titular character
of moral decay
the riparian area jealously guards its supremacy
as hydrophilic plants are robbed of their splendour
in a final display of defiance
alluvial fans buffet against the offing
recombobulating
the natural order of Chaos:
The Great Deep of ancient mythology
You look at me and I g e t l o s t
You look lost
You STAND before me in lust
I lay down below you in love
I talk too much..............
I l o n g for you to listen
Instead I hear a DEAFENING silence
You stutter a staccato.. s i g h
We volunteer play pretend prisoners....... s e e k i n g
To navigate stay captivated…… until
Escaping through a [hidden] trap door
Freedom forfeits reason and the ransom that was you and me
‘he’ stands before ‘she’
Misunderstanding “me”
She lies she forgets The truth he remembers
The news about us
Rewinds as we watch….
You preview a forecast.... de je vous….......
Pause.. my predictions - press replay
I will not harden my heart-sow the seeds to soften your soul
You rescue me - I save you
The danger in you deploys the safety in me
And then finally you see…………………………
you finally see me.....
can't even fart anymore
without kicking up a hurricane
halfway around the Earth
according to reports this has occurred
at a great loss of life and mind
within minutes of the methane
the dominoes began to rumble
and poor Flash who was
merely greeting the morning sun
became history's first flatomaniac
Flash was burly with hair
up and down his back like
a mink in a 5th Avenue perfumery
his girl Florence was in cartoons
playing the hope card
in a séance with the laboring masses
at the Union of Opposites hiring hall
I was giving the citizens
an anatomy lesson your Honor
I should be given a stipend
for public elucidation
Flo was the key if not only witness
thought she saw the god Apollo
leaping out of a moving taxi
the effect was so dramatic
that she had to leap too
and hasn't stopped since
her testimony was a monstrosity of detail
in conclusion my rebuttal established
several seemingly salient selections
I am a dissector by trade your Worship
and a taxpaying asset to any community
Flash was sentenced with stern admonishment
you will henceforth exercise your libido
within the confines of spherical propriety
to which Flash assented
without the slightest ********
er objection
and somehow strangely unafraid
the Flasher of Costa del Mar
disappeared one night
sucked into the belly of an alien craft
over the cattle lip badlands of Montana
they commenced their hideous experiments
as Flash mused without anesthesia
on the incalculable immensity
of the starry Universe
and watched a mobile home run amok
across 9 lanes of traffic

If love is...
feeling unloved,
anxious and starved,
give my regards
Does the torment of love's hate
eliminate pain?
If love is trembling lips
and sultry eyes, upon them
everlasting cries,
Charcoal tears that pour
What answers are there
for these unwanted sores?
Binding spells of
the unforgiving way swells
She the accuser shames
with her bitter blame
Aging with, until the bitter end
Accusing of his unrequited love
Awaits for his apologies
with a scorn, torn in self-pity
Nothing gained, nothing learned
Yearn, yearn, yearn
Self-loathing is apparent
Possibly inherent
Therefore, never really knowing
love and its understanding
and had mistaken it
enamored in its--lustful cradle
When the soul still yearns,
The chaos in her heart burns,
lonely is desire
Tomorrow reveals a quiet world with words unspoken
From a tender love that was ravaged and lost
A heart once rich now poor and broken
By yesterday's betrayal and the amount it cost
Yet in coldest dark there's a flickering light
To shine and glow where your shadows form
Its splayed light rises and the heart is warm
