Breathing In Chaos

the crickets break the silence
of the still, dark night

the leaves stir in hushed waves
as the wind whispers past

the moon hides…
shy behind her veiled curtain,

she lets tears flow instead

no crickets chirp
the leaves weep
as the winds wail

and I—

I breathe in the chaos,
feel the cold
dampen the world
around me

but my spirit
for some reason
is refreshed

I guess
nature also needs to vent

Hi Nikko- Of course, nature does have to vent. You are absoltuely right..I never really thot about personifying nature in such a way as you have in this poem...I love it! Especially your free verse form...it's broken up in a way that allows the reader natural pauses after each thought... Lovely, Nikko. When does your book come out? :) Gwendolen

You guessed right Missy, somehow she tends to do it when we least expect it.. That is what makes her so beautiful.. She brings chaos but she also reminds us humans that we need each other to survive.. okay that's my two cents :) Really, really enjoyed this write of yours *hugs*

Love the way you elude to rain by describing the moon hiding behind a curtain and letting teardrops fall, Nikko. Indeed, Nature does need to vent! And sometimes we see consequences like Japan is experiencing. Here I am dieting and you're describing making foods I love. You must be a great cook! Love and blessings in your new endeavors, Carolyn

Yes, just imagine if Nature couldn't vent... and I think all the more so since she has been burdened so much...haha oops, sorry about that! So nope, i will not mention food anymore-- but oh shucks, I was seriously considering writing a blog about food-- lol, hmm well we can just read and look and not eat :) lol
