Premium MemberA HUNDRED MEN WOULD HAVE LIVED

The horse whinnied,
are you alone?
He ran off into the light,
afraid of the night.

Boy what are you doing here?
You're far off trail arent you?
All the posse is up there,
I know all these mountains.

He was the lead horse in a wagon train,
It was a lot of mountain.
He could not climb,
his major wanted him to master it.

A peak of the angered god,
the winds howl with a human voice.
commanding him with persuasion,
but it's a tricky climb lord.

Stradeling a virgin peak,
He shouted at the sky.
Let's go boy,
yes we'll make it.

Come on boy,
there's a cave up there.
Get the lantern,
light my way.

This cave has no bottom,
now what?
We can continue on,
or we can fall.

I don't like the odds,
I can't do either.
You can sit here frightened,
or take a leap of faith.

Alright enough, enough,
I will continue climbing.
Take up my slack,
pull boy, pull!

Together we can get it done,
just keep going,
Don't look down,
let's go, giddy up.

I see stars,
I see the moon.
I hear wind,
we'll be home soon.

HALF A HUNDRED PLUS 4 VIBRANT STARS

There’s a moon
Breaking through the dark
Half a hundred plus four stars beside it
Each one trying to equally share its spark.

Then, the sun rises
Gentle, not too hot, not too cold
But it melts the walls that have risen within
Changing hearts, making them more bold.

A road appears
Stretching across seas, sands, and trees
Leading us all to a place
Where everyone has a seat with ease.

It’s a dream
One star shining bright
Over Africa, uniting us
A beacon of hope, lighting the night.

Premium MemberI Have Lived A Hundred Different Lives -

I have lived a hundred different lives -
Each as different as water is to stone.
I have dreamed a few far-away dreams
To discover that they were mine alone.
I have felt at times a trace of love
But was shown again that theirs was untrue.
I have often tried to bury the past
To find that it rarely stays inhumed.
I gave life to undeserving powers
But I was too late in retaking it.
I have seen the glory of success
But it was not my own to celebrate.
I have thrown my rage at the hailstorm
Then retreated quickly to a burrow.
I have been both with means and in lack
But always grateful for a swift breakthrough.
I have considered the centuries
And found an abode within the present.
I have counted my former hours
And scry the future for what might be left.

Premium MemberI Might Not Have a Hundred Years Left

How old are you when you realize
You might not have a hundred years left?
I do not dwell on it
But I am aware
Every day is a gift I did not expect yesterday
I am glad I did what I did
When I could still run and swim
And eat what I did
When I had teeth

Premium Membera hundred degrees in Kansas

a hundred degrees in Kansas
feels like two thousand degrees somewhere else
we cannot get comfortable
sweat is rolling down the small of our backs.
our dogs are lollygagging with tongues hanging out
the humidity of the Midwest is our undoing

it is cold and the flowers are dying
becoming withered memories
leaves are drifting and rain is falling
and the river flows like a stream of glass
the grass is fading
and birds are flying away
and the forest is taking on a sombre hue
and storms shake the ocean of my sleep
where my hair is soft as a spider web
and my filmy dress a paling green
and I stand still in this decay as a tree
with my arms outstretched to the sky
oh, the fine thread of summer is a fading thought
yet, there is a hazy beauty all around me
and within the crumbling fragile leaves soar
oh, the splendor of the whirling burnt orange
and red leaves spinning
like weeping blood red raindrops
oh, listen to the sweet chiming
of falling leaves
that I will hold like a blanket of memory
while the wind utters low wails like a hundred violins
and hidden birds sing
a beautiful symphony just for me

A Hundred Poems - Xiii

Beneath your feet, what lies there still,
A thorn of love's lost tenderness,
Or shadow longing for slumber's chill?

Oh, my love, star of shining grace,
Your light illuminates my way,
A journey from death to life's embrace.

In this misadventure of heart and love,
Which life does not endure and tend?
Our fractured feelings, spent and shoved.

Soothe me, love, with your loving heart,
Let gracious winds sweep us up and away,
Over, above, and unto heavens' part.

And amidst these ghosts of our past,
We shall rise, love, strong and steadfast.

Premium MemberMy Friend Lost a Hundred Pounds

My friend has lost a hundred pounds
She is enthusiastic about water, exercise and vegetables.
We should go swimming, she said.
All I want to do is watch TV and sit in my recliner

She calls me to give me advice.
Are you taking vitamins?
How much exercise do you get?
Let’s get healthy. Do you want to go on a hike?

I click her off the phone and text her.
Not today, I am busy, I lie.
It is easier to lie in a text than in person.
She shows up an hour later with an extra swimming suit.

Not today, I tell her.
Not tomorrow
And not the next day.
She bikes off, to enjoy her weight loss alone.

A Hundred Things I Wish I'D Said

You are more than what they said….
Savage beasts feed on your dread
Escape before your heart crumbles,
There is no picking up the rumble.
In time, your mind becomes jumbled
You are more than what they made you feel….
This body is yours their hands do not belong.
Eat from the corners, what a waste,
you’re still thrown away.
You are more than what you think…
Forgive the darkness that hangs like a badge
Forgive this body, which dangles on the edge
find you, which once was missing.
You are enough,
Is what I’d wish I’d said

A Hundred Poems - Xxxii

Forgive me  my madness, eccentricities,
        my faults my tenderness
that pain --> a thorn inside my brain
and skin so human  that it hurts!
My eyes of marble   so hardly
knew softness; a sight
beyond light and that thumping pain
          within the cargo vessel held;
lifetimes of love and sorrow some of which
my soul measured    life on hold;
to save this spot so much like Gold.

A Hundred Poems L

(Chopin's Ghost)

THE kiss of cold
--ness froze my soul
a tin can kicked
beyond winter's road

Hands in pockets
did not abate the shiver
ice-shattered thoughts
as i walk alone

The cobble-path stones;
across the way as i walk
and through a golden lilt
window-soul i hear

Chopin playing upon air.
My friend-soul i am told
kissing my footfalls
- - - _ - _--> as i go

Premium MemberThe Hurry of a Hundred Many Words

Time of vapors essence be, waves speak out of hand,
Washing over souls as we, as waves caressing sand.
Your eye my lantern lights, no distance but a star.
As I perchance encroach your breathing from afar.
A glance within your gaze delights
recognized as hand to glove;
Two souls may rise once more to share this love.
Always in the motion of the moments clinging breath
I find your essence lingering.
Rhyme as inclination to each pre-thought drawn in wreath
About your heart, caressed with gentle fingering.
A cape enclosing winters life and heart;
Passion’s promise, yet another start;
Sun of yet another broken dawn.
As love from well of hope is gentle drawn.
Yet I struggle, bonds of life before me.
Mere words, cartel of a dreary world impart.
With heart ablaze in hurry of a hundred many words
Were not the simple beating one immortal heart.
Say yes
Say yes a thousand times.
Whose whisper night will linger silent now
between all syllable every ancient singer voices beckon you allow.
Touch my soul to raise me from the dead, somehow.

Premium MemberA Hundred Words

You imagined -
                                you would travel the world...
with me, but didn't say a word,
how would I know what your thoughts were,
                               unless you opened your heart?

or may be I should have known,
                                  looking into your eyes,
                                  how can you love more
                               not saying a hundred words?

so sorry, I should have known...
words can not express every feeling.
gaze in the blue ocean of sight,
                                eyes will tell you everything!

It's a hundred and ten
 in the shade
I'm sweating again

boy oh boys it's hot
bees pollen has dried out
