Thought I better get round to writing a bit about myself.

I'm married and live on the Isle of Man

My poetry journey began in November 2013 after my husband was diagnosed with cancer. The first poem I wrote was called was Splendid Isolation. This was written after we returned to the Isle of Man after his surgery in England. I felt so alone and vulnerable in the accommodation - all I really needed was someone to talk to face to face and maybe have a hug! I posted a few poems on a friends facebook page - mainly humerous poems . An on-line friend Jenny Brewer saw my poems and kept telling me to join here. It took about 3 weeks of her asking me if i had joined to pluck up the courage to finally post and 'Just Desserts' was the first poem I posted here - it is based on a true experience! Since then my life has been a whirl. In Jared Pickett's collaboration I teamed up with Darren Watson and we wrote together collaboratively as JaDazzle United.

I adore penguins - the animals not the biscuits!
Loveeeee tall men with greying hair
I love baking/cooking
I like to potter in the garden - need more time to commit to it but have an aged mother who needs me more than my garden does
Adore most types of music - will give anything a listen
Best ever gig - Knebworth 1986 when 'Queen' headlined

We are experiencing extreme weather conditions on our little Island - the worst I have seen since we moved over here

On Thursday the flooding we had was so bad a bridge collapsed ..... this is the image of the school bus - thankfully by some miracle no one was hurt - all the children had got off before this happened

many roads were flooded

tonight and tomorrow we are braced for storm force 10 winds and have been advised not to leave our homes

I think the planes started again today but we've had no boats sailing because of the stormy seas - would hop on a plane to Malta tomorrow if I had the chance! Hugs Jan xx

I would LOVE to get away Armand but we have mum to consider especially with it being the first Christmas without dad. We are fine the Island is a wonderful community and everyone pulls together:-) hugs Jan xx

I listen to Mannx FM everyday to hear how the isle is making out. I've been through many a hurricane, from Andrew to Wilma, I've seen complete neighborhoods totally wiped off the map, but still it doesn't seem as bad as this---Florida has no hills and therefore does not suffer the full destructive force of water that the island has been made to endure by torrent flooding. Aww Jerry that is so kind of you to listen to our little radio station it was the first station to be granted a licence to broadcast so it is very special to the Island. England is also badly hit but it really hits home when the destruction is on your own doorstep.hugs jan xx

We are fine Charma it was pretty bad in the north of the Island yesterday with trees down blocking roads but hopefully the flooding is subsiding now:-) hugs Jan xx

Stay safe Jan. I have a good friend from Belfast who now lives near Swansea, and when he called recently, it sounded as if the wind was trying to take the roof off of his house, but he hasn't mentioned anything like what your experiencing. Ive read some of your comments, and is nice for you to look after your neighbors. But that's what small communities do. Hope things settle down soon! Janet.

It is a very small community Janet only about 80,000 people on the Island and people do pull together - thankfully it is relatively calm now I just hope we get no more heavy rain :-( hugs Jan xx

I've never known extreme weather like it - we have had flooding in the past due to tidal conditions but this flooding is due to the massive amount of rain we have had in the last few days:-( hugs Jan xx

No the schools were all open today Broken Wings! The flooding is localised - we are fine where we are but a few roads away a stream burst its banks and they had flooding there.:-) hugs Jan xx

lol thanks Ruben - my hubby brought me a windproof/waterproof coat for Christmas - thank goodness ... I've been wearing it since we purchased it in November - we struggle to find Christmas gifts as we buy when we need something and not just because a certain date dictates it:-) hugs jan xx
