Blood and Water

Was once it would be easier
Not so mocking cold and grey
But, I’ve started on your eulogy
Googled what I need to say.

I suppose I’m super organised
Your doctors say the time is near
Yet here and now, I’m quite removed
Perhaps indifference is my sphere.

I’ll have to introduce myself.
Ironic; As I’m your only kin.
Except that gap of twenty years

Blood and Water.
Neither rarely quite this thin.

I’ll need to map the family
Complex and simple to explain
Your blood.
Non-blood.
Who’ll miss you more?
Not sure that question still remains.

I’ll speak of fondest memories
Swerving past polarizing parts
Guarding mana for those that care
Never my place, to break their hearts.

And when the montage skims your life
Strangely my face will not be there
Love and laughter from twenty years
Can’t show, I know, you didn’t care.

So I’ve started on your eulogy
Perhaps to prove to me I’m brave.
Ignore the weakness of your time
So, family, can mourn your grave.
