Refresh from stress

Hey friends, it's been a long few months. Appointment after appointment at the doctors, it was diagnosed that my husband has tuberculosis, which is super weird and rare where we live. The whole process was exhausting, the doctors kept saying all the big scary stuff like cancer, dna deficiencies, whole sorts of scary assumptions.Thank goodness it wasn't! So the tuberculosis is treatable with antibiotics, he is on his second week, and seems to be doing well. The after effects of all of this, the medical bills, time off of work, testing everyone he's come in contact with and the treatment sure does take its toll. I am up to my eyeballs with stress, and now that it seems we have gotten past the climax of his medical adventure, I still can't seem to shake the stress off.

You know that feeling of being refreshed, like jumping into a cool pool on a hot summers day...I need that...and since it is not summer and I don't have a pool, I'm trying to find ways to refresh from all this stress.

The first sip of coffee in the morning,...a drive through the mountains...what do you do to get that refreshed from stress feeling???

Hi Cas, well glad at least its curable, and hopefully you are at the end of a long road here.Sometimes, just takes a few extra days to de-compress. The funny thing is I do jump into a pool, just about every day, and it sure helps, well that and a nice rum and coke afterwards! One million hugs!

It must have been a relief finding out it is curable. Take in all the beauty around and count your blessings. My prayers are with your family Cas.

Casarah, I'm glad to hear your husband going is to be okay.You have a lot of suggestions on relieving stress. I agree with Andrea go celebrate and have fun, do what you like doing. Or watch a funny movie and laugh until you can' t laugh anymore:-)Alexis

It is difficult to go through any illness, and stress takes such a toll, but it is such good news that your husband's illness is treatable. So in time, the stress levels will mellow out. But in the meantime, from all the good advice given below, hopefully one thing stand out to you. For me, music soothes my soul, and a walk in some lovely natural setting lifts my spirits. A good friend for company, lunch out, a movie matinee....something light or funny, anything that takes you out of the dark place of worry! I hope one of those things will help. Time most of all, will help. Good luck!

It is had getting rid of the stress, doll. I can't even say writing will help. Unless you are in a very peaceful place. You should take Andrea's advice, do what you like doing. Thank you for sharing your blog. SKAT

Just KNOWING what it is and knowing it is now being addressed is the beginning to losing your stress, Casarah. NOW go CELEBRATE. Do what you like doing, that is how to relieve your stress!

It's better news for you - that's good. I find looking at flowers and admiring their form and colours is relaxing.

Oh Cas I'm so sorry your hubby has health issues - the main thing it is cureable and he will regain his health. stress relief thoughts... laughter, being with family and friends, sharing your thoughts and fears with your best friend, walking in your favourite location, piece of chocolate, cup of tea, write poetry or at least get your thoughts on paper. My outlet with hubby's cancer has been starting to write poetry and its been a lifesaver to me! thinking of you all:-) hugs jan xx

To relieve my stress I write poetry and by the volume I produce its quite obvious that my life has indeed been very stress filled! And I take long Nature walks into the deep woods. Side benefit is that inspires some of my poems(perhaps my best)--so both therapies work in tandem.. GREAT TO READ YOUR HUSBAND IS DOING MUCH BETTER!

Cas..Im so happy that what your hubby has is curable dear. To refresh from a trauma, I find travelling abroad therapeutic,but if the budget is tight, buying some household goods, or a handbag or cooking when I remain inside, really helps..Even going for a walk on my own to the gardens helps... I hope you ll have time to relax too..Now you made me wanna put the kettle on and make a cup of coffee with some cloves and aniseed ..yum.
