Such A Sweet Happy Smile

Such A Sweet Happy Smile

To people, thought she was an imposition
As if invading privacy in an inquisition
And being a big bother to everyone
Becoming a big bore and not being fun.

She was simple, small with a body so thin
And no body fat to store any heat in
From cool air continuously was getting cold
Which is easy to do when becoming old.

In back porch opening, placed herself there
Sat and would stare with a breath of fresh air
As if somewhere in the past was trying to find
While we wondered what had been on her mind.

Had wheeled herself all over the place;
She always did it at a very slow pace;
Wife and I eventually had to leave in a while
Kissed her and saw such a sweet happy smile.

Tom Smicklas's mother will be 105 years old on
September 26th of 2014. She was born before
the Titanic had sunk. Can you imagine. Wanted
to thank Tom for having the respectful opportunity
to take care of his mom and never will ever forget
the experience. Jim Horn

    Oh wow! That is so great. I'm sure she has a lot of great stories, families need to learn, love and take care of each other. What a great poem, touching and worthy of a hugs. :) and a happy birthday to Tom's Mother :)
