Micropoetry-aint that tweet- Contest confusion - Casarah Nance's Blog

Hey everyone, I guess my last contest judging put me in some hot water.

Honestly I was under the assumption that everyone knew what a tweet was, that is what I had used to check the character counts... when you go to twitter and submit a tweet it give you a box with 140 characters and you need to make your status fit inside that box in order to post..it really makes for a challenge to keep a write that tiny. I had quite a few poems that didn't fit in that box when I copied and pasted it, it told me how many characters it goes over...like lyric mans puppy love poem..

Puppy love
to bark up your tree
Wag my tail
cause I like what I see

Puppy love
but not for very long
This dog is growing
cause girl, you're a song

when you take that to twitter it shows up at a -7 which means it went 7 spaces overs the 140 character count.

There is also a character counter on this website when you submit a poem too but it counts backwards from 6000.. Characters in a text box is not just letters, it also includes spaces, periods, dashes, numbers, enters, and tabs. any time something is pushed on the keyboard it is a character..

I really did enjoy every single entry in the contest, that is why there is so many hm's, because I had to stick to my rules,

And I do feel really bad because it might have been my fault for not explaining things properly, or how I was going to measure the poem. I'm sorry!

(would I be out of water if I said that I thought HM means hug me and I just wanted to give all of you who entered hugs??)
