Everyone is welcome to enter this contest, including poets who won prizes in my previous contests.
Submit One Rispetto on Your Special Place. This is a very easy verse form of only eight lines with 11 syllables per line. No meter requirements. No repeating lines. Please use the following rhyme scheme: ABABABCC
Limit your entries to one, eight-line verse!
I am posting my own two-verse example called “My Place Rispetto.” Use this example to understand what I’m looking for and then come up with your own description of a place you imagine (or actually visit) when you need to relax and/or think about major life decisions. I’ll be judging based on creativity, imagery and, above all, emotional connection, so make it beautiful. Show readers why this place is special to you. This is a chance for those who have trouble writing humor to wow me with a serious poem.
New or Old poems are acceptable. If you happen to have written a Rispetto on this topic earlier, you may enter it. If you’ve written on your special place previously in another form, you may revise it into a Rispetto to enter. Or you can write something entirely new.
It is not necessary to put the date or name of the contest below your poem. If your ears are pierced, note that at the bottom of your entry as some awesome hoop and stud earrings are available. When I look back at my own, old contest entries, I find quite a few do not have much meaning outside the contest. Let your entry be so well written that it stands on its own and come up with your own unique title – anything but “My Place.”
Make sure your Rispetto form is correct if you wish to vie for the top spots. There will be lots of winners, as always in my contests. Have fun!
Special “Climbing” Prizes for a series of Pre-Easter Contests
Prizes for this “My Place” contest are beautiful gemstone pendants in a variety that includes Black Spinel from Thailand (looks like black diamonds), Tanzanite, Citrine, Purple Rhodolite Garnet, Rose de France Amethyst, etc. These are amazing and make wonderful Easter gifts for ladies. If the lady is not Christian, another jewelry prize will be chosen. Men may choose between the jewelry for their lady or stunning, hand-designed writers’ notebooks. Here are a couple pictures of prizes - Tanzanite, Black Spinel and Rose de France:
Anyone placing in this contest will carry points over to at least one more contest before Easter. The poet who gets the most points by the time I hold my last pre-Easter contest will receive a large-carat-weight, multi-gemstone cross pendant. I’ll be choosing easy verse forms for all pre-Easter contests, so try to enter all of these contests to be eligible for the prize below:
This grand prize has several gemstones, including Peridot (light green), Garnet (red), Amethyst (purple) and Citrine (yellow). It can be worn with many different outfits.
