In my thoughts there floats an island tranquil, warm That is sometimes sunny, sometimes sweet with rain Sound, the harbor that's my refuge thru each storm Where my hopes, like flowers, bloom to ebb the pain Through the darkest gloom, that shelter will transform All my nightmares, grim, 'til naught but dreams remain When I yearn to taste that breeze and count its sighs I'll hoist each day's cares and gently ... close my eyes. ~ 1st Place ~ in the "April 2019 Premiere 3 Any Form, Any Theme" Poetry Contest, Brian Strand, Judge & Sponsor. ~ 3rd Place ~ in the "My Place Multi-Part Easter Prizes" Poetry Contest, Carolyn Devonshire, Judge & Sponsor. Richly illuminated with color and sensory language! A beautiful piece. We all need such an 'island', and sometimes -- perhaps in the case of your poem, the island is within. Bravo!

The reader can sense the tranquility you feel at this harbor, Greg. Beautifully penned. It was very difficult for me to judge this contest because contestants wrote so many incredibly beautiful poems. It's my hope that all of them will regard their entries as wonderful "stand-alone" poems. Congratulations on your win! Best wishes, Carolyn

Hell , I like a good punch line. This one is a K.O. but gently so. You almost inspire me to write again and return. You set the bar so high. I hit a contract and leaves scant time. In this deplorable country, we have to fight for survival. Cheers my bud
