Shade of Embrace

Across life’s wasteland in undefined journey seething stroke of strife I tried long to evade. As dry dust blown by parched summer wind I’d flee the scorched landscape in search of a serene shade. On wayside you planted sapling of your tree, now down its bough shadows of bliss serenade. For me tired traveler that’s the special place, I’d sleep in shade of your emotive embrace.

Subimal, I enjoyed your poem but had a little trouble envisioning this place. You mention a wasteland, then a tree. It was very difficult for me to judge this contest because contestants wrote so many incredibly beautiful poems. It's my hope that all of them will regard their entries as wonderful "stand-alone" poems. Congratulations on your win! Best wishes, Carolyn

Thank you, Carolyn for placement and comments. We always want somebody to plant a sapling on the wayside of our life's wasteland so it will grow one day to give the shade.
