Hi, I’m Derani Blackburn.
I write the kind of poetry that bleeds.. raw, reflective, and sometimes uncomfortable. I don’t sugarcoat feelings, I dissect them. Grief, betrayal, memory, connection.. those are the ghosts I invite into every stanza.
Poetry and music have gripped me since I was young.. two lifelines I never let go of. The soundtrack of my youth still thrashes through every line I write. I don’t chase comfort or pretty words.. I want the gut-punch truth, the twisted beauty, the places most people run from. That’s where the soul of it lives.
I write to feel, to process, and sometimes just to scream into the void. If you've ever felt broken and rebuilt yourself through words.. then we speak the same language. I hope my poetry meets you where you are, and maybe even lifts you a little higher. If my words hit a nerve or sit with you a little too long.. good. That means we’ve connected.
