Chinese Whispers

It started out I told you a secret..
It was not to be repeated.
But you couldn't help yourself..
It wasn't long before you Tweeted.

You had to add to the secret..
By giving it a plotted twist.
If only you'd kept it to yourself..
But you simply couldn't resist.

Before long it was going viral..
That whisper echoed all over the net.
It's now on Instagram and Facebook..
Confiding in you, I'll always regret!

However you've forgotten one thing..
Do you remember confiding me your fears?
You asked me to keep your secret..
I've not told a soul in all these years.

So thanks for creating this gossip..
You've caused me so much pain.
I wish I could break that promise..
But I don't play that game.

So I still hold onto your secret..
Because I am not like you.
When I say your secrets safe with me..
It's because I'm sincere and true!

This is really quite well done! I do hope you find a publisher! Aloha! Rico

Hi Rico, thanks so much for your lovely comment. I've been writing poetry since I was 9 years old so I have a large amount of poetry but have never considered publishing. Maybe you can give me a few pointers in the directions I should take?
