Pollution

Written in 1983 High School Year 10 English assignment about environmental issues. Pollution is covering up my light… I remember the colours so clear and bright. All above is so dull and grey… The warm wonderful sun seems faded away. People can’t see as they walk down the street… Rubbish and dirt crumble beneath ones feet. The rivers are full of twentieth century waste… No birds are chirping; this world they use to grace. Plants are growing in corrupted soil… No beans, no peas, no carrots to boil. The air is harsh and it’s hard to see… No oceans to swim, there’s too much debris. I’m heading away from this world of waste… To a far off planet, a beautiful place. I’ll have to tell of the mistakes we made… And look forward to more fulfilling days.
