Derani Blackburn Poem
Beauty and brilliance I see from afar,
In twilight hours an abundance of stars.
If one shall fall with elegance and grace,
What a wonderful memory I will embrace.
Tonight I see one falling from space...
So bright and surreal from an unknown place.
So simple and pure, yet falling so fast...
What a beautiful sight, how long will it last?
How I wonder upon this falling star...
The journey it’s traveled, did it come from far?
I wait for another, so eager to see...
This fragile rare gift that's given to me.
Will the next one be bright, weak or dim?
Does it send us a message we all carry within?
The message is simple; it's about our own soul,
Treat life with care and stay in control.
Just like the star, one day we will fall...
Our lights will burn out, with grace above all
Life can be short, or life may be long...
But with loving oneself, the light will burn strong.

Derani Blackburn Poem
I was Daddy’s little Kitten…
That was his pet name for me.
I was only four at the time,
I was happy and carefree.
Daddy gave me a Teddy.
I cuddled Teddy every day.
Teddy gave me comfort,
when Daddy worked away.
When Daddy came home from work,
His jacket would hang near the door,
every morning it was there,
My Daddy I loved and adored.
Mummy and Daddy were yelling…
One night before I slept.
Daddy’s jacket was gone in the morning…
I heard Mummy crying in bed.
“What’s wrong Mummy, where’s Daddy?”
Mummy wiped her tears and wept…
“Daddy and I have parted…
Don’t worry, I love you,” she said.
We moved to a place up north,
My Mummy, my Sister and I…
But my Teddy stayed at home,
we’d left Daddy and Teddy behind.
After a while we returned,
our toys and Teddy were gone,
Daddy gave all our things away,
Something was terribly wrong.
Mummy had decided,
Things would never be like before.
Daddy has now moved away...
And my teddy's living with the girl next-door.

Derani Blackburn Poem
Like the flip side of a coin..
And truth be told from a lie.
I shout for heads you go tails.
Why do you laugh when I cry?
When I smile you always frown..
I like the cold, you like the heat.
We are completely different..
I'm too honest and you cheat.
When I'm up you are down..
We can't agree to disagree.
Must everything be so difficult?
I love you and you hate me!
Like the dark side of the moon..
You can never see what's really there.
Where I'm open like a book..
You play dirty and I play fair!
I like cats and you like dogs..
You like old and I like new.
But there's one thing we agree on..
That's the way we rock our tunes!
At least we have our music..
Finally agreeing on one thing.
Though I'm for metal and you're for rock..
I like to scream and you like to sing!
So that's our little Yin Yang..
It's universal and abstract.
Though hard work at the best of times..
It's proof that opposites can attract!

Derani Blackburn Poem
Have you signed the waiver form?
Safety Induction? Medical? Check… Check…
Now watch your head on entry……
And also watch your step.
Although dimly lit to enter…
Many corridors and levels to explore.
Like a Willy Wonka experience...
Not knowing what’s behind the door.
To the left an Angel, the right a Devil…
Both dancing to tunes at a compromised level.
Splashes of colour.. blue, black and purple…
A schoolgirl still learning, sits in a witches circle.
Up a level, and divulged to allure…
It's highly X-Rated.. nothing is pure.
And over there is a beautiful wife…
Broken by a man that was once in her life.
Around the corner is the dance floor…
She’s rocking it loud and wanting more.
Down the corridor is a mother tending her child…
Always to protect them, a lioness in the wild.
The corridor leads to a startled crowd…
Watching her mood swings screaming out loud.
She’s a worker, a mother, a girlfriend, a hoe…
She’s a daughter, a sister, a friend and a foe!

Derani Blackburn Poem
I saw the world different today as I looked through your eyes.
How differently we perceive things as you sugar-coat your lies.
Your vision was filled with adventure as that's how you like to roll.
Never stopping to consider about the hearts that you stole.
You see women as an object and you charm them to the core.
Knowing all too well your intentions leave alot to answer for!
But just remember one thing, one day you'll be old and alone.
And all the hearts you burnt will have found a love thats grown.
Your looks will have faded and your charm has worn away.
And who wants a lonely old man who's never one to stay?
You've heard the word companion and I'm sure you know the depth.
That friendship has certain boundaries and is more than just Sex.
Honesty and loyalty are qualities to admire.
You'll always be remembered as unloyal and a liar.
I know I'm far from perfect and I have my faults too.
But I'll never be branded a liar and I'm loyal, unlike you!

Derani Blackburn Poem
When listening to another person..
Don't just listen with your mind.
Listen with your whole body..
And leave your thinking behind.
Feel the energy of your inner body..
Create a "still space" without interference.
You can now absorb with more attention..
It's a gift of "Being" you will experience.
Most don't know how to listen..
As the main attention is on thinking.
At the deepest level of "Being"..
Realization of "Oneness" is beginning.
When minds interact with each other..
Much conflict and problems arise.
But when giving that space to listen..
True communication will open your eyes.

Derani Blackburn Poem
It’s a fine line you see between pleasure and pain…
And I will make it my pleasure to drive you insane.
The time has come to put put things right…
All your wrong doings will now come to light.
The truth will reveal as it always does tell…
Now your own rewards will be three times the spell.
Karma has come and it’s time to pay…
You’ve upset the wrong person, now it’s my turn to play.
Who can tell the payment rate?
Your deeds of wrong, the risks you take.
Whether it’s good or bad it's the choices you made…
Maybe you’ll be rewarded or maybe you’ll be afraid?
You should s always put out what you would like to come back…
Because one day for sure Karma’s waiting to attack!
So think real hard before you act…
Because when you least expect it…KARMA’S BACK!

Derani Blackburn Poem
Brian Strand, the poetry man..
Sits high above with judging hand.
A keeper of the crafted line..
Deciding whose words get to shine.
I send my verses, raw and true..
Each syllable a piece of you.
Of heart, of hurt, of things I’ve known..
Yet back they come.. declined, disowned.
No golden tick, no praised reply..
Just silence dressed as reasons why.
No “almost there,” no guiding light..
Just shadows cast on things I write.
So why, dear judge, with seasoned eye..
Do all my efforts pass you by?
Is it the rhythm, rough and wild?
Or truth too loud, too uncompiled?
Perhaps my lines don’t fit the mould..
Too sharp, too real, too uncontrolled.
Not polished clean for safe display..
But scars that never fade away.
Or maybe it’s a quieter thing..
That art’s not crowned by any king.
That taste is fickle, hearts don’t match..
And not all flames are yours to catch.
So Brian Strand, the poetry man..
You hold the gate.. but here I stand.
For worth’s not stamped by one decree..
A poem still breathes.. if it’s in me.

Derani Blackburn Poem
I want to open my eyes and embrace the new day..
Not a worry in the world for whatever comes my way.
Just take everything in my stride and meet it head-on..
There's nothing to fix because nothing was ever wrong.
I don't care for judgement of what other's may think..
But if you catch me in passing I may give you a wink.
Status, opinions, the wealthy and poor..
Unless you're sincere then don't knock on my door.
I'm a great listener and always a good friend..
I will tell you how it is and I wont pretend.
I'm no one special and don't claim to be..
But I'm honest, I'm loyal and genuinely me.

Derani Blackburn Poem
I feel it all.. the highs, the lows..
The silent grief that never shows.
I smile like I’ve not seen the fire..
But flames still flicker beneath the wire.
I play it cool, a practiced game..
While inside burns a nameless flame.
A storm of thoughts, both sharp and deep..
That churns beneath what looks like sleep.
I’ve danced through hell at a steady pace..
And wore the ashes on my face.
I hinder battles with all my might..
And still, I choose to walk in light.
I don’t just sense.. I see intent..
The words unsaid, the energy spent.
I watch the shift in subtle air..
And feel deceit before it’s there.
A sponge for pain that isn’t mine..
Yet I stay silent, calm, benign.
I carry weight that none can see..
But never let it bury me.
I know the dark, I’ve been its guest..
And laid my head upon its chest.
It whispered truths that left me raw..
But I arose, and still chose more.
So if you think I’m just composed..
A heart untouched, a mind that's closed..
Know this.. I’ve weathered storms unknown..
And built my strength whilst being alone.
I read the room, I feel the spin..
I know the war that hides within.
Yet still I lead with courage, not spite..
A quiet storm that walks in light.
