beloved,
i love how you
love me;
a wonder drug,
effective without
side effects,
written...
in your kiss
and smile.
whenever
you touch me,
you create magic,
teaching my soul how to...
sing;
i love you, too, babe.

It was a minor car crash,
But they needed assistance.
The woman refused to help.
“Sheer lunacy,” she alleged,
to trust other people.
“Twill be the court for me,”
she moaned as she viewed
the wrecked ruined cars.
She refused to help.
He smiled, accepted the job
and said a fond goodbye to her,
never failing to see her face
wrinkled in a thousand frowns.
“How can you be cheerful and happy,”
she muttered. “Or did I not care for him?”
Oh he cared very much, but
He learned from experience
that he can only fashion his happiness,
even if it meant parting from her.
And frankly, he soon found out,
that leaving her worked better
than a wonder drug.
True, “I can do all things” can describe our race,
Not 5Ks we enter, but trials we face.
‘Cuz setting a PR is not what he meant;
In plenty and want, about being content.
With Christ as our portion, there’s nothing we lack;
The Son in our face means the wind at our back.
He’s not an enhancer, nor a wonder drug,
But that doesn’t fit on the old coffee mug.

I am listening to a list of glorious disclaimers on TV
That follow a commercial about a terrific new wonder drug that
helps you blow freckles off your arms.
Usually I am in the kitchen getting
Something to eat by now, but this time I already had my little
banana peanut butter sandwich with two package of chips on my
lap, so I actually listened to these darling side effects:
Possible heart attack
Possible stroke
Possible weight gain
Possible loss of bowel control
Possible lesions
Possible eye damage
Possible liver failure
There are ten others, but do I really need to continue?
I lie prostrate on my bed, breathless and afraid,
Emotions fly through my head, feel dismayed,
Forsaken by God even though I prayed
I weep for the tomorrow's I will not see
A smile lit up my face, doctors want to try a new something
A break through in medical science needs testing
Would I agree they say, I said I will try anything
Looks like God listened after all
My destiny now lies in the hands of science
Feeling gross but will stay compliance
Will get better, I mentally say in defiance
Tomorrow is just another day
I cry out as the drug brings pain to the surface
A rash appears, itching, red, inflaming the epidermis
Am I allergic to this wonder drug, I dont need this
I awake feeling better, I give thanks.

From day of birth a howling ghost coyote,
Ranging "Steppenwolf" of western plains,
A spineless cousin to more staid peyote,
Apex wonder drug of wild domains.
A lonesome cry expresses inner feelings,
Tempted now and then to run with pack,
Though dominance and harems are glass ceilings,
Focusing dim wit on what I lack.
First come, first serve is Nature's rule, not Darwin,
Burrow just a temporary rest,
Survival means my stomach can't be empty,
Endless sky the borders of life's test.
But kindness is a virtue I can't fathom,
Neediness is heart of daily fare,
Avoiding pain is Nature's only rhythm,
Ghost-like, when you need me, I'm not there!

Love Drug
There is a wonder drug,
Its name is love.
But there is no God,
Up above.
(C)2011 Aa Harvey. All Rights Reserved.
My dear, the one whom rest eludes;
whence comes to you spirits at night,
these specters that harass your mood
and plague you when out are the lights?
Is there no pill or wonder drug
that eases you like a friend's hug?
From eve to eve you are beset;
and assailed by your dreams and fear
of the Reaper's looming onset,
which prompt your nightmares every year.
Like your nightmares, nights annoy you,
then irk, vex, and thus destroy you.
The Angel of Death's ghostly presence
disturbs your rest though you protest;
it reaves from you the assurance
that you are safe and not unblest.
But, my dear, I am here to tell
you,—that for you there's no death knell;
that you're beyond the reach of Death:
for God safeguards you forever,
and gives you life with every breath,
so that Death harms you never, ever!
And know that I'll be here to defend
you for all time until Time's sure end.
The skeptics may ponder the plausibility
of believing in what we cannot see.
To know in our hearts there is a God above,
To be certain because we have seen His love.
To study the Bible and believe in the Word,
To utter a prayer knowing it will be heard.
To believe in a Great Physician who can cure every ill
without the use of a wonder drug or a powerful pill.
To know He is our Father. We’re children of His.
And our short lives on earth isn’t all that there is.
To believe His Son Jesus died on a cross to win
our eternal home in heaven and forgiveness of sin.
To have faith in the Lord we love and adore,
Looking forward to all that Heaven will be, and more.
Hope is like an anchor that protects us in rough seas...
Hope is like a "bower" anchor when we're battling a disease.
It keeps us steady and strong and from drifting into despair...
It's also the drogue that keeps us from capsizing there.
Hope is a medicine that can keep us healthy and alive...
And when all else fails hope can help us survive.
Hope is a wonder drug that we need to use each day...
Hope is God's anchor because He made us that way.

Wonder Drug
Sirtuins, an enzyme I think, has the ability to rejuvenate
human cells; but it is very expensive to produce. Hence
only the elite can use it and thus live to be 500 years.
People shrink after two hundred years the fortunate
will be as tall as five years old and demand door bells
and light switched placed on the skirting board.
We, the mortal, will have to bend down as we always
have done to the powerful who are related to divinity.
Lottery in the future will not be about money but win
the right to be injected with Sirtuins. But the winners will
not join the elite, but alone face the horror of watching
family and friends get old and die out while they continue
to live in a world that is and echo of yesterdays anguish
devoid of laughter, love and newness.
Ideas gleaned from poetry and books
should be for sale in little boxes, that
were optional at extra cost--and I
would find inside, the little people there,
that I could set upon my desk,
and shake my finger at them,
questionning without offence
their origin, or their descent.
And as a gentle Gulliver, perhaps,
remember to remark upon their zeal.
Of course if I found feedback from the air
that bears my voice, or from my friends who care,
I would. But yes, it is too much to ask,
and much too little to depend upon.
No wonder that the wee ones live for us!
Beware, my tiny leprechaun.
We are scavengers who would invade the night
to capture you, for you are rare indeed.
Within your packs, you bear the wonder drug,
insight to know, to dare to understand,
embrace, believe!

haven’t all cures in the making
for the ailments which once did
us humans in,
been considered
“radical treatments” or
elemental hogwash,
prior to their ability to heal the
sick &
go down in history as yet
another small step for all of us
still ticking away “healthily?”
how many lab mice & lab rats
can get annihilated before that
first human steps up to be
the guinea pig &
just what does it take to get to
such a point?
as everyone’s body chemistry is
different &
there isn’t a wonder drug for anyone
to keep them alive indefinitely (yet),
then it would seem that anything
which stops the pain,
does so radically,
setting off a new revolution in the
body, insisting
that one must go on &
anyone who gets in the way of
such groundbreaking attempts at
healing,
is more a blockade to our general
progress as a species,
than any one person who may die
as a result of wanting to stay alive &
not give up.
