Tongue touched,
a diaphanous zephyr of ephemeral desire,
rustles the parchment of our sepulchral scripture,
where our connubial covenant is inscribed,
in the cryptographic ledger of the damned,
and the whispers of the ancients,
echo through the labyrinthine corridors,
of the underworld.
Your lips,
a vermilion velvet of hyperemic passion,
anoint our union with the haematoid blood of Elysium,
consecrating our entwined destinies,
within the cryptic cenotaph of the heart,
where the lethiferous weights of existence,
hang precariously in the balance.
Together,
we waltz,
hand in hand,
through the tenebrous tapestry of Chronos,
our love an ephemeral eclipse of solipsism.
In this eternal,
ephemeral dance,
we are the cryptic ciphers of the nocturnal,
our love a funeral pyre that illuminates the desolate,
luminous landscape of the Chthonic River of Styx.
She never liked it here this her confession
I knew all along I had a connection
her husband passed away
and the very next day
A rental truck in the funeral procession
I'll be proposed by a most faithful man.
A man who'll always wait for me regardless of what I've done.
So from now, I'll prepare to become his wife.
At the day when the alter is grave,
The ceremony was named with funeral
Forever I'll be a bride
For a man who was named with death.
A Prayer Answered
I used to live in a bubble, fun filled and care free
But now my life is similar to autumn leaves under an oak tree
My daughter’s funeral music echoing from the brass band
Heap by heap her grave is filled with sand
“God how am I suppose too carry on?”
Death is so final, my daughter is forever gone!
She was so brave yet so small,
If fighting could be measured, she would stand tall
“God answer me, give me a sign!”
“And please don’t tell me it would all be revealed in time”
“My child why so angry, I answered you even before you asked.
Seven years ago, you married a brown eyed girl I assigned to a task.
She will be the pillow when you weep.
Share your nightmares when you can’t sleep
She will be your pillar of strength when you fall apart.
Pick up the pieces and carry in her pocket your broken heart.”
When he arrived home,
All he gave to her,
Was gone,
He will sleep on a broken heart,
All alone,
His fist can no longer break her,
His words can no longer make her,
Through no fault of her own,
He visits her eternal bed carved in beautiful stone,
"God has healed my bruises,
With him I am safe and loved at home."
The tears that fell from his bloodshot eyes,
Quenches the soil,
Reaching deep inside,
She swallows his remorse and pitiful cries,
One last drink that she despised,
The weeds have grown where he sighs,
He will break,
Until,
He too, dies.

Watch her live
Let her die
Hear her doubt
There’s nothing you’d give
Not to hear her sigh
Or your name cry out
Up the rosebush
Through the leaves
Down through thorns
She needs a push
Through green veiled willow’s eaves
Where the widow mourns
And that’s how they lived, while the kingdom mourned
for the loss of so great a young soul.
He hated to fool them, but would never return,
the wild hills were forever his hold,
for forty years, he and Seras grew old…
and in that time six more children came,
two boys and four girls, all strong and untamed.
And until but two short days ago
they lived and loved in their quaint home.
But the great plague that has gripped this land
claimed both of them in a heavy blow,
worse than any his children have known.
And I speak to you now at their funeral,
the first-born of Larren, his tale now is told.
I say it not to stir up claims to the throne,
I have no use for that fancy and fuss,
I speak not to upset the widower Berice,
Who surely would have no love for us,
She would think us but the bastards of lust,
but I speak so it’s known, that in the Gods’ eyes
twas Seras of the Hills, who was my father’s true wife…
Neighbours hadn’t seen Johnny since his beloved wife’s funeral
Even then, no one thought to check if the old man was okay
Gasps of horror were heard when his body was discovered
Limply hanging from the rafters of his bedroom ceiling
Even the post piling up in the porch hadn’t alerted anyone
Clasped in his hands a picture of his darling wife and a cell phone….
The last number he had dialled was the Samaritans

Zenith achieved
Yielding to no one
Xcept, my cracks are beginning to show
White is a lie of a color to wear
Vestigial hope lingers
Until the deeds are signed
This is my funeral I must attend with a smile
Shaky hands, sweaty forehead
Ringing bells signifying tragedy
Quenched is my thirst for pain
Passed is the time for indecision
Only forward toward death
Nameless, faceless shapes
Marching between them
Linked to the broker that means to sell me
Keeping in cheerful step to the incinerator
Jaunting to be completely destroyed
I am not the face I wear
Hindsight is haunting
Glamorous, isn't it?
Formidable, aren't I?
Everything I want comes to my feet
Desire, however, is a cage
Change is not an option
But only happiness
Always
Head bowed
Another lost
Only nineteen
Life exhaust
Suicide bomber
Checkpoint aimed
Distant detonation
Bloodthirsty reign
Flown home
Last journey
Sombre flight
Deceased early
Airport met
Coffin carried
Mourning wife
Newly married
Another hero
Theatre down
Another funeral
Tearful town
Families gather
Friends unite
Stars n Stripes
Mournful sight
Firing salute
Last farewell
Congregation disperse
Wishing well
They Left so Abruptly
(for the countless South Africans, of all colours, who dedicated their lives for freedom and democracy)
the valiant ones
countless
many known
many more nameless
the truest sons and singers
husbands and poets
lovers and wives
daughters and farmers
workers and sisters
brothers and friends
they left so abruptly
with quiet pride
steely courage
gentle dignity
they left so abruptly
leaving us our tomorrows
brighter
hopeful
filled with promise
they left so abruptly
so that we may breathe
the breath of liberty
the air of freedom
the warmth of justice
they left so abruptly
leaving with us their parting gift
freedom
inkululeko
swatantrata
liberte
azadi
vhudilangi
libertad
they left so abruptly
yet we remember them all
today
in the days that slipped away
and in the many more that we await
they left so abruptly
yet they remain
hewed into our memories
etched in our consciences
engraved in our hearts
they left so abruptly
and yet they endure
with us
within us
now and forever more
People were
Many things.
Strange or not
People were
Different and
Odd and fun.
People were
Monsters but…
That’s not all
People were
And still are
Strange and odd.
People are
People. For
life is life.
Yet not.
Not is lies.
Truth seeps from
Every mouth
Lies, lies, lies
Move, move, move
But somehow
Lies prevail.
Lies are life.
Lies are death.
Lies are homes.
Lies are pain.
Lies are truth.
Yet somehow.
Truth prevails.
Truth is life.
Truth is death.
Truth is home.
Truth is pain.
Truth is lie.
Truth is that.
Lies will die.
Lies will cease.
Nevermore.
Truth will live.
Truth will be.
Forever.
tattered, yellow napkin
softly settles into the murky lake
as it absorbs it's last spill
our names in gold, still legible
this ring, never fit, seldom worn
"I love you" etched innermost
I know you do, I just couldn't say it much
now I can, but you don't hear
it's cold out, especially on the water
our favorite time, autumn's change upon us
our old craft, tattered sail I told you I'd fix
before your birthday that never came
now why bother, It's the final voyage
a muted splash as the ring follows
and I sit, shivering silently in the blue dusk
the cold urn between my knees
now raised, and poured
a cloud of dust, your earthly remnants
ashes to ashes to water to earth
our dreams unlived, dissolved like you
in the muddy waters we once loved
nothing left for me: no us, no time
I follow your lead, but not softly, not muted
a last gulp and it's really not bad
Sinking, thinking, wishing
watching our boat bobbing beneath
silence is screaming, I gasp
I'm warmed as I see your smile.
All in one faded-black day
(but let None forget)
In my arms, her body lay
(my life was the price to pay)
A tragedy, through the lack of humanly shame
(do they know pain)
My darkly colleen has to suffer no more
(Robert nor do you)
Let me die
(please hear my haunted cries)
If I can not see Sophie tonight
(live on with my grey)
I'm just a mess of despairing words
And broken nerves
Another mourning, afflicted sight
(through decay, love can remain)
Solace, sympathy are just more lies
She is all I need
Until you decide she is just another sadist's toy
My Angel, why did you have to fly so far away
My Angel, just let one feather stay
My Angel has flown away
My Angel, why did you have to fly so far away
My Angel, just let one feather stay
My Angel has flown away
(My body is amortal, die I may,
Together, our hearts will forever stay)
Look at our three little boys all grown up. You'd be so proud of the men they are today. They think of you often and what'd you say to them today. I wish you could have been here to see them grow into the men they are today. Their no longer the little boys who use to need us to need us to make their bumps and bruices go away. Their now the strong men that have their own family's. You gave me three angels from above but, you were taken from us to soon. I know your always watching after them from above. Even tho their all grown up they'll always be our three little boys.
