He wanted whole wheat not rye
The sloppy sandwich made him cry
He knocks the plate on the floor
Then decides to order more
His sandwich was extremely dry

Life is quite good
-indoors in Inwood.
It’s uptown Manhattan
at the northern tip
-the northern tip is
the tippity-top,
where the kitty cat
Calvin loathes to stop
-cat napping.
Curled in a chair
100 paws from
the door…
clawless paws curled
and inert.
Licked immaculately
clean of dirt.
Perfectly content
to go nowhere,
or at most a stone’s throw away.
“Everything’s here,
I’m in NYC”, he mused.
“If I get bored
I’ll watch the news,
or read the New York Post,
and the deli downstairs
does a pretty good job
with a Denver Omelet
and whole wheat toast.
The Bronx is a pitter
patter away, just in case
I want to stray.
I checked the map
(there’s a little bridge)
but for now, this chair is
where I’ll stay,
and take a kitty
cat nap…
all day.”

I wish they made tiny earmuffs.
They never stop
Dawn to dusk
Chirping, cheeping, cawing,
Chattering in the hedges.
I root for the cat.
Not often
But on occasion
Y’know….just
Get that one.
Hey I chirp now and then
Get a bit over eager
At the feeder
Peck at an over eager squirrel.
It is called a “BIRD” feeder bozo.
It’s getting’ colder
They’re all keyed up
Going south.
I may just stay here
Nest near the dryer vent
Hope they toss out a slice of bread
Whole wheat is ok
Maybe a fistful of seed.
I hope they leave soon
I may read a book
Quietly

with slender four legs
on the narrow table,
6 whole wheat bread slices
golden knife,
non-rotting wooden food stand
golden bucket
fragrant orange
Beyond, distant mountains shake
golden curtains that are cozier than a duvet
cat sitting down
doze off
a cat front
no tomorrow
someone starving under the table
crumbs
waiting to fall
with the morning sun.

And pumpernickel.

Morning
My Muse
Floral gym shoes
Terry aqua sleeveless dress
Eggs frying on my stove
Whole wheat toast, aroma utterly entrancing
Brazilian Bossa Nova notes filling all rooms
Floral tablecloth embracing sparkling utensils, glasses dishes, cups
Smiling, red petunias rest on the shiny, tall microwave
Saying grace, hands folded in the kitchenette, her holy place

Bread
The smell of it
You will have a fit
Fresh from the oven
Your Grandma’s apron
Your mother’s way of buttering it
There is nothing more heavenly-tasting in the world.
Bread!

To Have Fun With the Candidates
By Franklin Price
1/25/2015
To have fun with the candidates
Should not cause any fuss
For after all most every day
They're having fun with us
Trump is a real playing card
Ted would like to Cruz to a win
Jeb's just beating 'round the Bush
Rubio thinks he's a Gem
Fiorina's whole wheat flour
Then there's honey Huckabee
We should be in a Santorum
There's a Christie cream to see
The taste could make a Kasich
Costing way too many Rand
Wouldn't like to drive their Carson
Maybe a Republican
The leprechaun O'Malley
Feels the Bern socialistically
If he's going to make it to the top
Has to climb the Hillary
So confused there are so many
Hard to see how I should vote
Who won't lead us lambs to slaughter?
Who won't be a Judas goat?
Guess that wasn't funny
Well it wasn't meant to be
Be careful what you're looking at
Is what you think you see

Twas night of full Solstice
when all thru my home
Yin is moaning with constipation
while Yang jumps up and down
and back and forth
and in and out,
hoping her Beloved scratch soon will be here
to absorb all screechy itches
she holds so loudly dear.
I'm not in my hairshirt
and not needing a nap,
breathing Yang in
to pray Yin might push out.
As heaven opens
to rain down warm clatter
I co-arise with rich dark-soiled hope
and faith that each full breath matters,
as Yang throws soft pillows
for Yin's entertainment.
Finally, midnight clears,
stars splatter sky
as Yin pushes out poo
his contented voice lowing,
nestled in dream pillows
of Earth's sacred manger.
Another MidWay dia-soulstice,
one last veggie pizza on whole wheat slice,
angels are snoring
their demons ignoring
peacefully awaiting this New Year
of work and play nice.

Pancake is one of my favorite foods for breakfast.
Formulas are original or whole wheat.
A definition for pancake is a round, flat cake.
Its buttery aroma fill the kitchen.
To prepare pancakes, mix the ingredients in a large bowl.
Flour, milk, egg and oil are the principal components.
Mix the batter until it doesn't have lumps.
Fillings can be added as chocolate or fruits.
Heat the skillet or frying pan to a low frame.
Melt a pinch of butter over.
With a large spoon, pour a small amount of the batter
to form pancake.
Cook each side of the pancake until is golden.
Remove the pancake from the skillet or frying pan.
Pour all pancakes on a plate.
Add over pancakes maple syrup.
Eat the fluffy pancakes.

Today my husband said ' I can really go for some banana bread'
But this is what I made instead.
A gallon of Sweet Tea.
A bowl of Green Pea's.
Turkey Club on whole wheat followed by Smoked Meat.
Corn on the Cob along with Broccoli Raab.
Chicken Wings. Shoe Strings.
Pineapple upside down cake. A chocolate Shake.
Baked Potato served with a Stuffed Tomato
Now my husband has a belly ache.
I don't think he likes it, when I bake.

What could be better
when tummy growls,
than a BLT, stacked high
on whole wheat toast
with summer tomato
and fresh, crisp lettuce?
Goes down easy,
satisfies,
but only for a moment.
Baconish aroma
fills the house,
sings an irresistible song
which lingers
and lingers,
. . . . . . lingers.

In The Kitchen:
Hang a pound of hickory smoked thick sliced bacon
Cover the bacon with white paper towel to prevent splatters
Pre-heat oven to 350 degree
Cover baking sheet with silver aluminum foil
Place whole-wheat yeast rolls on the baking sheet
Dot each roll with luscious creamery fresh butter
Place rolls into the pre-heated oven
Place thick bacon into microwave oven to cook for ten minutes
Beat-up four eggs incorporating air add two tablespoons milk beat some more
Take out that aggression on those eggs
Cook omelet in preheated oil covered pan
Top that omelet with some shredded cheese just a little
Call everyone to come:
Breakfast awaits
