Vacations From Drowning

Longing for a precious
destination experience
capturing a realm and a paradise
to relive the peace and quiet
inside the comforted soul of a warrior

Premium Member Moon Vacations in 2050

For those who qualify for this costly trip,
permits will be given for travel to the moon.
Friends, family, or lovers may apply as a unit
for this one and only “out-of-the-world” experience
lasting no more than one week.

Since the moon has already been colonized
by the greatest of our world’s minds,
moon vacations are comparable to
educational fun field trips where folks
will view mankind’s unique adjustment to moon life.

To qualify, people must pass a test
involving simulation of space travel.
Both adults and children must also pass a test
determining their ability to cope with the experience.
Those with criminal records need not apply.

Having qualified, my husband and I enter daily
free lotteries within our designated small region.
With a chance of one out of a thousand each day,
we figure we will get our trip before we die.
We can’t wait to view earth from the moon!

City Vacations

To some, vacations mean a beach,
With nothing but relaxing.
To go to a museum
Would be boring, even taxing.

But both my husband and myself
Prefer to go exploring
In cities where we’ve never been
To do a little touring.

We seek museums, stores and parks
And neighborhoods to walk through
Where maybe we will come across
Some locals we can talk to.

A different setting’s always great,
No matter what it’s costing,
But, unlike basking in the sun,
It’s just a touch exhausting.

Premium Member Snow Bird Elf Vacations Confidently

Toadstool house was surrounded by four leaf clover guards
Most thought they were decorative, but they had ears and minds.
They recorded all of the things the mice and the rabbits thought
Mind readers and repeaters, what more could a vacationer ask for?
Snow bird elf could not wait to return and see what they had learned.

Summer Vacations

Summer Vacations

I looked forward to summer holidays,
Free from school, to run away, to
My maternal home amid paddy fields,
Reachable only by boat those days.

To play on snake boats in the lagoons,
To go fishing around the back waters,
And give the catch to nanny to be fried,
And eat it all well before lunch time.

We wait for the sun to go down a little,
To be out again for a session of games,
To cool it all down the river after a while,
And to dash back home before sun set.

Reaching home before the church bells,
For the evening prayer that's long always,
We pray for the vacation never to end,
And not to go back soon to school.

Bed time is a world of fantasy tales,
With grandmama's cooked-up stories,
Each day a new one from her store,
And to sleep to the tune of her lullaby.

Premium Member Vacations and Vacating

What's a 'vacation,' anyway?
It should involve 'vacating' --
But need one vacate his place
   of residence and 'go somewhere?'

Isn't it enough to vacate one's job
to rid oneself of the headaches, the
worries, the deadlines, the politics
the gossip, the backbiting and the
backstabbing, and all the hundreds
   of other job-related unpleasantries?

             **********
For three glorious weeks I've been
unplugged from my job. Completely
untethered. And it's been wonderful
I'm a new man-- renewed, refreshed
ready to go-go-go back to work
I'm excited again! Bring it on!

And isn't that the whole point of a vacation?

Vacations

Like a snap of your fingers,
A tiny reprieve,
Vacations transport you
But then you must leave.

And as you head home
There’s a list to be made
Of things to take care of
And bills to be paid.

Of course, it’s a comfort
Resuming routines
But moments will linger
On internal screens.

You’ll find yourself smiling
Remembering those
You met on your travels
Or places you’d pose.

Away time is lovely
With memories made
Though the life back at home
Isn’t one I would trade.

Other People's Vacations

When friends recount their travels
They sound wonderful, although
Most often they describe a place
I might not want to go…

Or even if the destination’s
Someplace to entice,
Their version of the trip is not
My type of paradise.

For everyone’s vacation
Is unique, like DNA.
We all have certain things we like
To do when we’re away.

We’re lucky if, vacation-wise,
Our plans can be in sync
With spouse or friends or relatives
Who share the way we think.

While I enjoy renditions
Of the trips my friends describe,
My own will be quite different
From the ones they would prescribe.

When planning trips, I let my yens
And fancies be my guide
Since my on-my-wavelength husband
Will be right there by my side.

Premium Member Memorable Vacations

We were together
On sandy beach
Sweet wind caressing
My hair with sun.
One month it lasted
With sound of sea
And our kisses
Shiny delight.
One month of love
Which still now lasts
Deeply in my mind
With sound of sea
and our kisses
Shiny delight.

Premium Member Memorable Vacations

Memorable vacations weren't in my future
Elk season came around and guess where my husband spent vacation
My desire to acquire a vacation with him to a romantic paradise wasn’t meant to be
Over and over I would plead asking him, please
Ruining his was not permitted
Adding the expanse to his hunt and be with his friends was more important
Because hunting season only came around once a year
Leaving him to his vacation, I began to take my own at the
Eagle Casino Indian Reservation

Valuing my time away from home
Accepting not having my husband around I started
Catching the first bus out of town with
All my girlfriends that wanted to be
Thrilled to death, to dine on divine food and tear the house down with our laughter
Indian reservation here we go while our husbands are enjoying themselves
One Arm Bandit and Texas Hold'em we pray to hit the jackpot, then on to the
Nightlife and entertainment

Vacations

Waterfalls and beach balls
breakfast in bed with bear claws
Nothin I like better than a vacation

Paper work and people wastin my time
Ain't nothin I hate more than waitin in line
For that next vacation

Pet Vacations

Pets take vacations all throughout

the year,

It doesn't matter if inclement weather

is near,

They take adventurous rides with their Masters,

even in the midst of natural disasters,

They soak up the rays minus the sunscreen,

loving the water and the beach because

they like to preen,

The animals love to get away to places

their families have been,

At the end of their vacations they grow

withdrawn and sad,

because the sun and fun creates the best

time they've ever had.

Vacations

A bubbling feeling of serenity
Captures my mind in Waikiki
If only I could one day be
On the beach of Waikiki

A sense of awe enraptures me
As I stare at the nature of the Serengeti
If only I could one day be
Free to explore the Serengeti

A feeling of pleasure overcomes me
As I swim in the depths of the Caribbean Sea
If only I could one day be
Swimming carefree in the Caribbean Sea

Damn, my life is boring
But my mind keeps it so rich
Imagination is a wonderful thing
As life can be a …
