Vacations and Vacating

What's a 'vacation,' anyway? It should involve 'vacating' -- But need one vacate his place of residence and 'go somewhere?' Isn't it enough to vacate one's job to rid oneself of the headaches, the worries, the deadlines, the politics the gossip, the backbiting and the backstabbing, and all the hundreds of other job-related unpleasantries? ********** For three glorious weeks I've been unplugged from my job. Completely untethered. And it's been wonderful I'm a new man-- renewed, refreshed ready to go-go-go back to work I'm excited again! Bring it on! And isn't that the whole point of a vacation?

You got that right, Gershon! That's how I viewed it when I was working. But in retirement now, every day is a vacation and I also retired my alarm clock as well! Many thanks for your gracious comments re a few of my recent concoctions and keep on delighting us with your verse, my friend! - Bob

Yes, indeed it is the whole point! I've taken many a vacation at home. Sometimes just catching up on my own life is relief from the daily grind. Go get'em Gershon.

Three whole weeks; this is exactly the amount of time I just had for my vacation. Started back today; dare I guess you work in a school? It is my best guess, and my hope for students also.

Good guess! I teach for the University of the Potomac (Chicago campus) in the ELP for international students. I'm lucky. The students are quite motivated. Here's wishing you a great semester!! :) gw

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha...With my youngest 'kids' (ages 21 and 22) a long way from sustaining themselves, fortunately or unfortunately, retirement for me is one big fat dream...Actually, truth be told, I'd rather keep on working for quite a while,...and may be able to. I seem to be in a very good place at work right now... Thanks for the comment, as always, Line!
