Up In Arms Poems | Examples

Premium Member Now, a Church Attacked

     Lawlessness comes home to roost
        Israeli settlers’ troubles self-induced

     Fool ‘lawmakers’ look the other way
        for their crimes, settlers never pay

     Yet killing innocents wasn’t enough
        now a church attacked, Huckabee got tough

     When Arabs attack them, settlers are rightly up in arms
        but it doesn’t entitle them to do a church any harm

     If they don’t get the message this time, along with their fool supporters
        Messrs. Huckabee and Trump will give the settlers their marching orders

Premium Member Up in Arms

    Where there is no trust
      there is no point in ‘talks’

    Terms one side proposes
      the other will reject ...

    But 'keep the momentum going’
      'Schedule another round of talks'

     Fancy tuxedos drone on and yawn
       boy soldiers fall ~ families up in arms

Premium Member Democracy or Autocracy

      	MAGA folks, with Trump are mostly delighted
           Democrats up in arms, yet affrighted

        Is Trump dealing democracy a ‘death blow’
           or just displaying ‘common sense,’ you know

        Who to ask? Ted Cruz? Nancy Pelosi? Chuck Schumer? JD Vance?
           ~ How about Nikki Halle or Mike Pence?

Embrace Life

Life is like a treasure;
Feel it with pleasure,
Let the bygones be bygones.
Whatever you want to accomplish,
Go the extra mile, just hang in there.
When opportunity knocks,
Don't be in two minds—give it a twirl,
Without the fear of facing the results.

When someone criticizes you,
Don't be up in arms with them.
Instead, step up your game,
And prove yourself.
Sometimes, you may feel left out in the cold,
Without any reason,
And it all seems Greek to you.
But when you're a cut above the rest,
These situations are a dime a dozen—
Take it as easy as pie.

When success isn't yours, bite the bullet,
Hold your horses, clear the air,
Come hell or high water,
Beyond a shadow of a doubt,
You will taste it!

Premium Member A Farewell to Charms

Please wish me well before I go

Before I do you gotta know

The one thing that I never said

I hope and pray you wake up dead

At last the truth I have to tell

You made my life a living hell

I knew the end was coming fast

Each day with you worse than the last

Your attitude and crooked smile

No gratitude just filth and bile

I dread the day you came nearer

Your sour face could crack a mirror

A cold dry touch that makes me twitch

And the temperament of a witch

But no sense getting up in arms

Just time to say farewell to charms

Sloth

Sloth has the officer serving us
Quick to offer a pet reply
Because he finds the job tedious:
"Your need we are unable to supply."

Sloth has a pet answer for failure:
Oh, I am sorry, I forgot."
It's true forgetting is part of nature
But it's lousy when it's pet.

Sloth has the accounting man surprised
 When the populace is up in arms
When their needs aren't prioritized.
Now there are sirens and alarms!

Sloth takes the country many years back,
Losing money by the millions
Due to handling by the slack
Who need ages to make decisions!

Premium Member State of the Planet

Speech after speech, the summit dragged on
   though all agreed every nation had won

Then on the day when the bomb descended
   and life on Earth as we know it ended

Indignant attendees were up in arms
   ~ for climate change had done no harm

Alarms

I’ll never get used to alarms
Though homeowners see all their charms.
It’s too easy to make
Just one tiny mistake
Which can cause some to be up in arms.

To disarm one you need fob or code
Or you’ll wake an entire abode
For the noise it emits
Blows one’s eardrums to bits
And those woken from sleep may explode.

In the city, alarm use is rare
And it isn’t that people don’t care
But a doorman and lock
Chase the thieves from the block
To the suburbs – alarmers beware!

That Cockerel

4.30 cockerel crows,
Turn over back to sleep,
4.50 it crows again,
Cockerel is doing my head in,
It crows yet again,
May as well get up.

Sitting in the garden in the sun,
Cockerel still crowing at half past ten,
Blocking it out as best I can,
Stay sitting in the sun,
Crowing yet again.

Next morning 4am not again,
Cockadoodledoo it goes,
"Belt up" I yell closing the window,
Neighbours up in arms,
With lack of sleep,
Cockerel moved peace at last.

       5am cockadoodledoo  I give up.

Off With Her Head

The wife of Louis, lavish Marie Antoinette
Extravagantly led the country into debt.
Designed to marry Austria with France,
She led the hapless king a merry dance.

Poor harvests afflicted the farms,
The peasants were all up in arms.
They stormed the Bastille
With militant zeal,
Which triggered off royal alarms.

Although her youthful beauty had been widely prized,
She ended life decapitated and despised.
And that is why you often hear it said,
That avarice can make you lose your head.

Love of a Lifetime

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
safely bound to you
wrapped up in arms of armor-
ease my troubled heart
fear not the kismet
we share beyond creation-
perpetual love
cradle me in peace
bestow grace with each finger-
warmth erases woe
tarry with me now
tangerine sunsets do rise-
eventide snuggles
twenty-three years of
loyalty and sweet romance-
you belong to me
laughter in mornings
waking up with Ella Rose-
three people one soul
fawn tender kisses
in lavender fields flourish-
for you are my home
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The love I feel for my hubby inspires my writing on a daily basis. I cannot express how much I adore him and his love for me. I was 16 when we met, now I'm 39 and still we stay strong through rough waters.

"Three pets and a daughter with a couple so in love...
these gifts are only things from the Lord up above."

Thank you for this contest

Alabama

If I lived in Alabama
I would so much disapprove
Of the attitude towards women
That I’d simply have to move.

There’s a revolution coming
And, despite those southern charms,
Many Alabama females
Should right now be up in arms.

For to challenge a decision
That’s been law for many years
Proves that women’s low-class status
In that state still perseveres.

I’ll not visit Alabama;
I don’t know why someone would
But I hope there will be protests
And perhaps they’ll do some good.

Up In Arms

Another wave of voter vexation
is swamping the shutdown nation

To the left,
the windpipes are hissing
To the right,
the windbags are dissing

And all of the kitchen cabinet aprons
got their middle fingers
pointing up     deaf adder listening

Their thumbs down
is the ballot death blow sign:
Telling the weathervane citizens,
the rainy day
slush fund money is missing

The proletariat are up in arms,
so voter vexed ... they’re getting no paychecks

When the last mint cookie crumble,
the murmurers
are gonna misty-eye mumble

The viper sound bytes
are cobra kissing —
Blowing inherit-the-wind
lipstick jinn wishes

Getaway stage right poll exit
says last count call:
the vault money is missing

The proletariat are up in arms,
so voter vexed ... they’re getting no paychecks

To the right,
the windpipes are bursting
To the left,
the windbags are cursing

And all of the kitchen cabinet aprons
got their middle fingers
pointing up to the empty cookie jar

As the latest patriotic wave of voter vexation
is giving wet back hex to a grumbling nation

And the whether vain citizens don’t know which way to turn

Submit To Shambles

Submit to shambles release the pain
The fiery heart indulges a fiery gain
Up in arms will the whole world draw
As soon as the shark opens its jaw
The skies flash across a motionless earth
Touch down rays of lightening across the hearth
And to this very spot where it struck runs dry
To my hope to survive broke by my will to die
Chaos
madness
these feelings erupt
like the valcano on the other half of the world is enough
to cause a change in the human heart
Millions upon millions tore apart

I have rights, but oft times
A chosen wrongs
That gives me burns
I have weights that I can't lift
Up in arms, needless worries
Timid and bold
This story told
I 've chosen wrong...
