What a surreal feeling, diving into one's murk
never realized that it comes at a cost
'your actions will have consequences' 
Heard so often, yet never pondered
these thoughts and feelings ache my heart
that I could feel my mind burn
what a montage I have built
reimbursing the tax on demand
paying my dues for what I have done

After writing free verse for quite a few years, I am feeling my free verse is hurting me too much these days. Most of these are like daily writing,

Deeply They Linger

A life I lived has passed me by, 
My thoughts of wanting to go back in time 
I am trying to turn away and fly 
I will lose my will of losing this time.
 
My fragmented memories on recall, 
Difficult for me with an event installed 
So long ago, I thought no more of it

Resolutely Unresolved

On my honor I will do my best
To be real quiet, and not a pest
I’ll smear some butter on a crispy roll
And let you dip it in my soup bowl.

I won’t dress up seeking flattery
Unless I win the freakin’ lottery
Then I’ll spread the cash tween kith and kin
In the hope they won’t “remember when”.

Unresolved Anger

Some folks say unresolved anger causes depression
We know unresolved anger is a cause of aggression
Well, I’m here to make this unsolicited confession,
I would be a strong candidate to lead the procession
But first I want you to consider this little concession --
When depression subsides, I consider it a progression
For things always look up with a new

Laying in fear, clear objectives blurred

By confusion, noise all around

Sand, I feel each grain against my face

Dog trembling against me, head buried under my arm

Her body jumps with each round fired

The smell of sulphur, heat of barrel close to my skin

One next to us still, silent, dead I know

Metallic smell, blood, maybe me next, maybe

I resolve.          Not to make any New Year resolutions.



I am finding it hard to go with the flow,
I know,
It is the sensible approach to take,
Worrying won't make
Situations change,
Life is strange,
Things are not like they used to be,
For me or thee.
They never are

It wasn't an intention; none of this seems to be true
It was Thanksgiving Day, and the kids were about it 
I wouldn't say I like it either, or you're not here. I walked away.

We so carefully respect the boundary
Placed around us by society
A sly smile, a covert glance
That we cannot name romance
	
For rules it's wrong, for souls it's right
As we slip into the deep night
And discover each other
I boil to be your lover

Like Tristan's chord played 
my tissue caught her last tear

Unresolved Past

Pause the clock, let the world stop
allowing our past to catch up 
before going one more second 
into the future. 

Would not stop long, the past 
dragged along generation after generation, 
faster than the last, problems left behind
getting worse, ignorance, bigotry, hatred, 
degenerate companions. 

Passing the past one generation to the next 
to resolve solicits

Unresolved Crimes

We fight,
We cry,
And ask ourselves why?

Why did we have to start
To tear our own race apart.
With an endless war,
That has no end
That we cannot mend.

Why is it ok to kill someone else's brother,
For the sake of a religious gain?

If I killed your brother would you think the same?
Religion is not a game!
