People are the way they are;
You take ‘em or you leave ‘em.
They tell you things about themselves;
You do or don’t believe ‘em.
The one thing you cannot expect
Is that you’ll ever change ‘em,
For trying to might backfire
And, in that case, you’ll estrange ‘em.
We all have faults, though some are blind
To how some others see ‘em,
Yet most of us would never trade
Our faults for theirs, to be ‘em.
We must accept in those we love
The traits that do define ‘em,
The positives and negatives,
The way that they combine ‘em
And realize they must do the same
For us, when we’re beside ‘em,
Despite the fact we all believe
We take our faults and hide ‘em.
Say it once, say it twice
mad folk yell, it’s not nice.
When the brain, fires in haste
lest a thought falls to waste
tie sour tongues; iron deep frowns
rough hewn gifts don't cast clowns.
Widen your spheres; hone words truly
Great minds bounce; no acts unruly.
'Peace and Love' both admirable traits
but to some they're a lamentable farce
and saying the phrase long and loud
won't ever make them come to pass
known to act naturally (it don't come easy)
a certain famous drummer someone
has oft been heard to quote
those self-same words but not in fun
while forever holding up (4) fingers
(2) in the form of a 'V'
yet if it really makes him happy
then it's plenty good enough for me

As each day you go walking
Let love lead your loyalty
If only with friends talking

Many fathers have been endowed with good traits.
They help to build strong families and communities.
I have considered ten attributes worthy of note,
taken from the Biblical story of the prodigal son.
1. Good fathers are understanding
2. Good fathers are accommodating
3. Good fathers are not controlling
4. Good farmers overflow with wisdom
5. Good fathers have hearts that are
always prepared for reconciliation
6. Good fathers choose battles that win wars
7. Good fathers are not afraid of family opposition
8. Good fathers do not frustrate but celebrate and
embrace all of their children
9. Good fathers are great listeners
10.Good fathers are not combative or
confrontative.

I needed someone in whom I could trust
to let me know of my three strongest suits.
I asked my daughter; instantly she gave
a quick summation of my attributes.
The first she named (my easy-going ways)
I had not quite expected, but in her view
since I’m rarely ruffled, I am at ease.
The more I think about it, that’s very true.
I’m tolerant; not much will set me off.
Forgiving and relaxed is how I am.
As Popeye the Sailor Man was wont to say:
“I yam what I yam, and that’s what I yam!”
The second trait my daughter mentioned was
I’m fun – an easy one for me to guess.
Housework I will shirk if there’s to be had
a good time! I’ll just leave the house a mess.
Fun and easy-going go together.
What reason in the world is there to be
too hard on others or on my own self?
I love to laugh and often I’m carefree.
I like the last thing that my daughter said.
Of scriptures, it would be my favorite one,
which starts out with the two great words “Be kind.”
“Be kind to one another,” said God’s son.
I’ve never been the perfect nurturer
as a mom, but I feel at least I’m kind.
To know my daughter thinks of me this way
gives me much gratitude and peace of mind.
you've got a tenderness...

you are creative
in more ways than one,
sharing your God-given gifts
with your community, the world.

whatever you lack

you make up two-fold in curiosity.

Inner strength, a radiant gleam,
Nurturing dreams, a flowing stream,
Eternal hope, a vibrant theme.

Acrostic in Tercets (Birthday of Josephine G. Morales)
Loyalty is rare
If you find it
Keep it.
Trust is like lot
Plant a seed
Expect growth.
Kindness like oil
Always ready on fire
Ready for burning.
Dedication is favor
No attach string
Only voluntary love.
Charm and talent
Standout sure
Among women.
Bright smile, heart's pure
Are innate accessories
Lady feel secure.
I dreamed my way here
I’ve had my cringe moments
I feel pressure, I lose perspective
I’ve wholeheartedly failed
I misspeak, underthink, overreact
I try to do the right thing
the right thing isn’t always clear
I’ve tried to hold on
I’ve let go with grace
I’ve charged ahead
I’ve stepped aside
I self-sabotage, then try to do better
I’ve self-consciously retreated
I’ve stood up for others
I’ve backed down and apologized
I’ve rinsed and repeated
I’m a chameleon, but I’ve never been perfect
I’ve under-reacted to challenges
I’ve overreacted to the ordinary
I devalue likeability
I indulge the language of play
I share my human experience
I don’t know what else to say.
Better be punished
Than to say harsh bade goodbye
Be gone or vanished.
