An Ode To My Three Strong Traits

I needed someone in whom I could trust
to let me know of my three strongest suits.
I asked my daughter; instantly she gave
a quick summation of my attributes.

The first she named (my easy-going ways)
I had not quite expected, but in her view
since I’m rarely ruffled, I am at ease.
The more I think about it, that’s very true.

I’m tolerant; not much will set me off.
Forgiving and relaxed is how I am.
As Popeye the Sailor Man was wont to say:
“I yam what I yam, and that’s what I yam!”

The second trait my daughter mentioned was
I’m fun – an easy one for me to guess.
Housework I will shirk if there’s to be had
a good time! I’ll just leave the house a mess.

Fun and easy-going go together.
What reason in the world is there to be
too hard on others or on my own self?
I love to laugh and often I’m carefree.

I like the last thing that my daughter said.
Of scriptures, it would be my favorite one,
which starts out with the two great words “Be kind.”
“Be kind to one another,” said God’s son.

I’ve never been the perfect nurturer
as a mom, but I feel at least I’m kind.
To know my daughter thinks of me this way
gives me much gratitude and peace of mind.

You have many fine traits and I'm glad it was Angela who delivered 3 of them because it seems to have created a love-revelation moment for y'all. I enjoyed reading this and felt the strangest emotion, because of my feelings for you, I was ready to take whatever Angela said personally. It is hard to write about my positive traits because I was taught at a young age, it's called concieted. You are humble and guileless throughout. Love, CayCay

I,too hope you will try this and allow yourself to be proud of who you are. As i said in my blog, it's a tribute to all those who have invested something in you as well as how you have applied those things to yourself. One can remain humble and relate the good qualities truthfully about oneself. <3<3 CWxo

i hope you will ask your partner what he likes about you and just do this, Caycay. It's fun to do. I did my hair poem too. Oh my, it's too long (not my hair, the poem) Will post it later. The Claude thing was for Brian. I need to write lots of clerihews and hikus for his coming contests.

Despite your ill health and family problems, I feel that you are a cheerful and fun loving person. Your positive attitude makes your life a big success. Beautifully and truthfully written.

To have a child think of you with those 3 traits is proof that you did nurture her.

thanks, Lin. but really, I am not very maternal. Just tried to give them fun times, but spent a lot of time working and not being home also.
