The Gods May Be Crazy

Tossing and turning all night
recently had the strangest dreams
recalling them in broad daylight
don’t know what they mean
wrecked by a stacked deck
of bottom-dealt cards
I was under the gun
attacked by a pack of hungry wolves
had me on the run
lost in the woods and couldn't see
the forest for all the trees
mocked by a flock of tar-black crows
had me on my knees
and tho' the Gods may be crazy
staring out from on high
they do look after their own it's true
for drunkards children and fools such as I

Soul'd Out

Guess I'm soul searching she's on my mind
with a heart that is hurting must have been blind
I wander these streets where we walked together
but places we'd meet are now stranger than ever
I think of those days gone by
and can't help but wonder why
I'm tossing and turning time on my hands
with a heart that is burning don't understand
I sleep in this bed we we lay as lovers
but things we once said she now whispers to others
and I dream of those nights they're past
and I can't help but have to ask
how could something so right turn out so wrong
why should something so good only last for so long
like a love left behind so was this heart of mine
soul'd out

Tossing and turning

I have a lot on my mind lately and no one to talk to
I have a ton of reasons why I’m tired of life but I was taught to keep your head up
I can only control what I can control
Everything else I’m learning to let it go
God works in mysterious ways and he always comes through for me
Every night I crawl in my bed
I allow my brain to go empty
No worries and no stress
I’ll just lay here in this bed until I have to get up again
All I ever want in life is to win and succeed at everything
Sometimes I allow things to eat me alive
A lot of times I hold so much in but when I hit that pillow
There’s only tossing and turning going on
Thankfully my brain is not on and I can breathe again
Sometimes to relief myself I need to think of nothing

Tossing and Turning

Tossing and Turning
Yawning and yearning
and listening to the lullaby of lust

Pressing the pillow
on the mattress of melancholy
and tiptoeing to thoughts of temptation

Deciding to toss all inhibitions
and prohibitions
out of my bedroom window.

Turning a mature leaf
as I strongly believe
that two are better than one.

Premium MemberBreaking News on Tossing Trash

We used to think about the stars
more distant than the planet Mars
But now we only think of Earth
which puts a damper on our mirth

For on the ground and in the air
There’s so much crud we just can’t bear
So all of you who toss your trash
You ought to be, but aren’t abashed

Be warned! We have a brand-new plan
That we are sure will soon you land
In jail in your respective towns
And change your smiles to ugly frowns

So if you like your freedom, guys
Don’t toss your trash! ~ A word to the wise

Tossing Our Sins

Before the new year can begin,
You have to throw out every sin;
So with a rock or piece of bread,
You toss them quickly overhead

Into a river or a lake,
Where they’ll be gone, for symbol’s sake.
The brand-new year will start and then
Your sinning can begin again!

Premium MemberPecos Bill

Pecos Bill rode herd in the vast forlorn.
His quiet Paint gobbled buttered popcorn.
A tornado, in a fit,
Came for a whirlwind visit.
“Paint, meet Curley. His back I will adorn.”

Bill grabbed his rope and threw a loop with hope
And saddled the whirlwind so Paint could lope,
Leisurely grazing along
While Bill sang a peaceful song
Though the twister used top spin, Bill could cope.

Whirly raced north swift as antelope might.
Picking up barns, tossing them left and right,
Heaving a freight train five miles.
Bill hung on with joyful smiles,
“Almost beats chasing roadrunners at night.”

Bill rode that twister into a broke nag,
That lay city curbside limp as a rag,
A sadder, but wiser storm.
Where his horse Paint, true to form,
Whinnied by the nag, wanting to play tag.

A jolly sheriff saw Bill ride in view,
He chose at least three tickets to issue:
Parking in a tow away;
No emissions valve that day;
Driving a twister with no license too.

Premium MemberArrested For Tossing Diamonds

I love a good threat, Hugo Jepsen,
Will you send the police, and then some?
If my pattern obstructs traffic
For I am demanding a hefty ransom
While tossing diamonds
From yonder throne!

Premium MemberJust Tossing Pennies

When I was young and still in my twenties
Thought eighty was ancient, never thought eventually
I'd be older than dirt
Instead of a squirt
Just yesterday against the wall, I was tossing pennies

Tossing Sins

On Rosh Hashanah, what we do
Is throw our sins away.
We save them up all year, but then
One day we have to pay.

A piece of bread (or else a rock)
Is used to represent
Whatever things we’ve said or done
That we’ve come to lament.

Some moving water is required –
A river, stream or sea
And into this we toss our sins –
At least, symbolically.

Then hopefully our slate is clean.
Some prayers we do impart
So we can face the coming year
With what’s a fresh new start.

If only we could take our fears,
Our worries and our stress
And make them likewise disappear –
What joy we would possess!

Premium MemberIce Is Tossing Cars Willy Nilly

The ice swirled around in a dangerous way
Tossing cars willy nilly into each other and concrete bridges
I marveled at her confidence and power
Hoping I was not going to slide into the two wrecked cars in front of me
She gave me a tiny spin, showing me that I had no control at all.
She grinned at me in her icy blackness
It was the last thing I saw.

Premium MemberBaby Tossing

For centuries, families in India for reasons of luck
Have tossed their babies from a 50-foot tower, they've run amuck
These guys are “bleat”
Babies land on a bed sheet
A custom to which these newborns are blessed as they chuck

Tossing Around In the Wind

i feel lost
in the dimness
of this day

my thoughts
stirring in this wind
ascending
then descending
in a spiral
of emotions
scattered
like these leaves
painting the ground
in drifts of red
i never cared for that color
nor this autumn air
i feel lost
within its grasp

Premium MemberTossing Mints In a T-Rex Mouth

Tossing mints in a t-rex mouth,
his calamitous breath smells good,
as the terrible lizard rolls you South,
delighting in his wintergreen food.

Thankfully this monstrosity of a sweet-tooth Rex
rejects his diet of flesh and menthol as vomitus.
Relating voluminously to Jonah - you’re a wreck.
You slide off the belching tongue in slovenly gravitas.

You run as his roar, like a refreshing wind,
scores its daily fear and loathing.
This close encounter with your courage thinned,
avoiding an impression without a stitch of clothing.

Premium MemberTossing Out Regret

I’ve decided to be rid of some things:

a moth-holed sequined dress with bitter tags,
the weeping journal of ennui and pain,
the mocking trophy case of trophied dust,
proud calligraphed to-do lists left unchecked.

Let them shout accusations from the curb!
