Tossing Our Sins

Before the new year can begin, You have to throw out every sin; So with a rock or piece of bread, You toss them quickly overhead Into a river or a lake, Where they’ll be gone, for symbol’s sake. The brand-new year will start and then Your sinning can begin again! *a tradition on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year

This is perfect! I teach children to throw their troubles down the river and watch them float away.

Ha, ha, ha, ha!... Yet why can this not be the year that we make good on our (not) vows?! ~ Naive, idealistic, ever-hopeful

The gifts that keep on giving...and coming back to haunt us. I do rather like the idea behind this "tradition", however. Excellent piece, Ilene...and I'm not even Jewish.

This is a fun write Ilene! I know some who removed it all from their homes and took it to others' houses who are not celebrating, and then after the celebration, went back over to pick it all back up! Is that cheating?!! Well, anyway, they got it all out for the Holiday anyway :D <3
