I DIVED INTO THE CAULDRON

She said she was a white witch;
Her spells were all benign.
If I dived into her cauldron,
I’d come out feeling fine.

It was full of magic potions,
Selected with great care,
Guaranteed to benefit
Anyone who’d dare.

She seemed a nice old lady
Who wouldn’t hurt a fly.
So, throwing caution to the wind,
I gave the thing a try.

I dived into the cauldron
And joyfully submerged.
But, alas, I was an ugly frog
When I finally emerged.

Now I live in a smelly pond.
How did it come to this?
If there’s a princess out there,
Please come and give me a kiss.

Premium Member The Nocturnal Butterfly

This is the tale of the butterfly that danced
by the light of the moon --and its song-- entranced
(it's possible, without having even glanced
like: unicorns are real-- just horses enhanced
and perhaps Santa's reindeer --on Christmas-- pranced
Believe!-- if your imagination's advanced)
...well, this butterfly by the Moon was romanced
throwing caution to the wind, its safety-- chanced
free-floating, no choreography financed
way past her curfew -- understand, if you canst...

To Fall In Love

Oh to fall in love once more
Beckoning nostalgia's door
Throwing caution to the wind
Crossing lines, none shall rescind
Souls ablaze, hearts set on fire
Inevitably burned, amidst desire

Beautiful Music

In my life, all I need
Is beautiful music
All the sweet melodies
Swaying in the wind
Happy days here
Listening to beautiful music.

I've always lived in my mind
Throwing caution to the wind
Some say I'm lonely
I merely state I'm homely
In my world there's only one thing
Beautiful music.

As the sounds shift
Lingering in the air for a bit second
And they finally fade away
The song keeps playing in my head
I go over that final note
Beautiful music.

Could you please play me a piece?
Though you have no guitar or violin
Just the sound of your voice
Your laugh like a thousand little bells
Is just enough for me
My beautiful music.

End of the Line

Some say it's fine, throwing caution to the wind.
    Some say it's fine, if you're good or may have sinned.
    Some say it's fine, giving all to ease your task.
    Some say it's fine, to help but don't wait to ask.

    You may while away each day, waiting for a call.
    Hoping for some news, about anything at all.
    Just gazing into space, or staring at the wall.
    Or just having a ball.

Premium Member Feel the Fall

Sweetheart,

We felt the fall in early June,
love born of a Summer sun.
By August, I was in your arms,
life's best had just begun.

Like falling leaves of Autumn trees
throwing caution to the wind,
you carried me like a gentle breeze
to places I've never been.

Weightlessly drifting in happiness
I feel each sweeping rise,
discovering our harmonies
with breathless sweet surprise.

I fantasize we stay adrift
through life and time to recall
how each new day through seasons of change
we always felt the fall.

Still falling in love with you,
Jeannie

Unwritten Price

It's a silly dream of you and I
To walk this dangerous path of absolution
Every day we ask each other why
Too scared to breathe and too drunk to run

Intoxicating, the way we speak in glances
Following our path with reckless abandon
So out of touch from lives of second chances
How bitter we are, from games never won

At the brink of the abyss, we share a forbidden kiss
Homophobic stares are the best we can hope for
The unwritten price to pay for moments full of bliss
Their weapons are sharpened slurs, more violent than before

Laughing like we know, we should have died years ago
So what's the harm in throwing caution to the wind?
Somehow we never lost our minds, in spite of all we know
Holding on, we tilt our heads, to see a bit better around the bend

Visit To Santa

VISIT TO SANTA

She eyed the 'old elf' with a look of concern;
Cautious, yet, curiously disdained;
Though, unimpressed with the thought of it all,
The overall enticement remained;

She had heard of his acts of kindness;
His candy canes were superb;
His wardrobe was impeccable;
However, the lumps of coal did disturb;

The smiles of her peers was unmistakable;
Would they really steer her wrong?
Could all the stories and poems be true?
Was there truth to all the songs?

So big, he was; all that white hair;
The belly, the red nose and cheeks;
The wire-rimmed glasses upon his chubby face;
She had been eyeing him now for weeks!

So, throwing caution to the wind, she took a step;
The next was easier and soon,
She found herself in his lap;
A hush had filled the room!

He spoke so gently, like a melody so sweet;
A lilting phrase that soothed;
When she stepped down, her heart felt light,
She truly, had been moved!

Walking away, she stopped and looked,
At the new friend she had just made;
He waved at her, then gave a wink;
A special bond that wouldn't soon fade!

Winded

Luke lived in a place prone to an earthquake.
One in the offing made him shiver and shake.
He decided to act with full speed
Throwing caution to the wind indeed.
And moved to south Florida for safety’s sake.

Exploring the Suppressed Side

Most of the times I'm God-fearing and true,
But sometimes the devil in me rises through..
When I give into desires that take hold of me,
throwing caution to the wind and just be me..
How I execute my wickedness is quite tame,
But still a crime and only I'm to blame..
I indulge in my badness and exploit my sensuality,
Enjoying the moment,nicely balancing my duality..
Pushed down from the clouds back to reality,
I now worry about my morality..
So. I'm on the path of redemption now,
The dogma of society has made me bow..
One day I wont desire anymore,
i'll leash the demon tight to be docile and bore..
That will be worse than anything I say or do now,
But the darkness must be suppressed no matter how!

Throwing Caution To the Wind

The road to Hell, I may as well
(What else have I to do?)
Is killing Time what's true to mind,
Or change my life for you?

So on I trek, is this correct;
This course of action taken?
Malady will thus infect
Should I be, alas! mistaken

Children do things their own way.
Rarely do they give it a second thought.
Always throwing caution to the wind.

Autumn's Breath

Breathing in autumns air is refreshing to my soul
I'm in awe of beauty surrounding me, as I leisurely stroll
Colourful leaves dancing, doing their best to cajole
Throwing caution to the wind, down the hill I roll

Now leaves are sticking to my clothes and in my hair
Actions of a child, but priceless is the smile I now wear
Foliage of orange, red, yellow, green and brown everywhere
Trees rustling their pleasure, joyfully rejoicing at my flair

The wind picks up, whistling natures sweet tune
A slight chill is in the air for it's now late afternoon
The sun strives to shine brightly, glistening off the lagoon
Days are getting shorter and earlier rises the moon

An exquisite valley beckons, an enclosed paradise retreat
Sitting against an ancient oak, resting my weary feet
A beautiful sight to behold, not an inch marred by concrete
Now special place to come, when one wants to feel complete.

Premium Member Passionate Masquerade

   "Passionate Masquerade"

a romantic interlude evolved to torrid love affair
taut triangle, impossible to win,
we played our parts as flimsy as candlelight din
heartache would stain, vicariously, all those unaware.

secret rendezvous excited two bodies, bare,
feelings fulfilled at the expense of sin
whispered words of tender love and passion wearing thin
throwing caution to the wind without thought or care.

selfishly, we fed our lust in secluded hideaway
emotions tend to fool lovers entangled in web of lies,
cracks in tapestry swallow sweet joy like threads that fray
disruptions caused by clumsy alibis,
a happy home, dismantled, by a wanton stray
romance has exited as swiftly as once 'twas wrought with sighs.
