A room in my head called emotion

Controlled by various means

A thermometer reacting to the room temperature of others

The cold shoulder of silent indifference

Could turn the blood in my veins, to frozen streams

Other times, blood starts to boil with internal rage

The mercury of overreaction, starts to rise

The volatile instability, damages perception

I work hard on a solution for my personal climate control

I do, have a choice

Reactive thermometer or self-regulating thermostat

Someone else’s winter can be my thawing spring

Heated summer anger, can be a pleasant autumn day

That room in my head, needs comfortable stability

Self-awareness becomes the barometer of my emotions

Premium Membershe inherited millions

she inherited millions
her parents’ house, furniture, clothes, knickknacks, jewelry, daddy’s watch
never spent a penny on a couch, never chose a painting or a necklace
satisfied with mommy and daddy’s things, wore mommy’s clothes
a spinster, who spent her money frugally on groceries and utilities
turned her thermostat down to fifty-six in the winter, to save money
satisfied with her parents’ furniture, never chose a comfortable couch
left a million dollars in the bank when she died
no one to give it to

Sonnet

Spoon and smacks, a sweet screw and strap,
Skank cucumbers, sugar's hammer bed;
The donut hotdog, sausage swing to lap,
A slide of neck, a drum of meat and head.
Fur, nipples, pickles, bear, and bull do juice,
The twine, pole, grab leather boots;
Belts, handcuffs, laces, panties, and the noose,
Sword, slave, lipstick, eel, antler, and the hoot.
*****, tunnel, clam, purr, kitty, volcano,
Mussel, worm, shell, and underwear of fleece,
Pussy, thermostat, screams of spank and hollo,
Ashley, pomegranate, hips, and strawberry kiss;
Peach butt cheek, bite, chokecherry and the lips,
Tunnel, vulva, cherry, breasts, and neck.

Premium MemberNew Year

It's a New Year again,
Time to turn another
page -- though I am
far from new~

closer to Old Sage.

Time to forgive...and let
go... -- as seasons flow
the cold of January
will leave our North~
Southern breeze will again
melt the snow, thawing
Nature's frostier thermostat --
(a subtle lesson in
there for all of us) --

Myself, never much for skiing --

having taste closer in line with toasty-sand
and dazzling-shore

however, no need to further bore anyone with
my own preference -- mindful that we all have
personal deference -- but more than enough
in fond common not to foolishly feel need to share any
affections not deemed innately neutral, amiably acceptable when
cordially meeting and passing -

My this year's resolution:

To make a little less fecal
pollution

to love a little more

a welcome mat not far from

the bell camera at the front
door --

I won't be naively foolish -- but maybe
a bit less frightfully ghoulish...

Premium MemberMy 120 pound house guest

He's an elder now so don't dare forget.
He has special needs and they need to be met..
Always been a hot boy so keep the thermostat down,
or he'll gulp too much water and in urine you'll drown..
Never was a barker but now lets you know.
Better pay attention or he'll just let it flow..
The laminated flooring makes his joints ouch and
his old bones can no longer reach the soft couch.
He needs carpeting or bedding to lie down and slouch..
Those short walks are great but his back legs go out.
Make sure it's flat surfaces with no hills to mount..
A breakfast and a dinner, let his nose lead the way,
and this 120 pd dog is happy and sleeps the rest of his day.

Premium MemberBrutally Honest

I’m thirsty
It’s hot
I order a cold, refreshing soda.
I can hardly wait

My tastebuds excited as they wait for the glorious liquid to envelope the inside of my mouth

Anticipating the rush of little bubbles exploding with fervor as they make their way down my throat.

The satisfaction of feeling the cold fluid colliding with my internal thermostat, plunging the reading back to decency
Refreshing my ever parched and dry soul

Only to swallow a flat, warm soda.

That has been my experience knowing you.

Premium MemberNew To Hell

A secular soldier's demise came from friendly fire.
Soon demons dragged him into another friendly fire.
A succubus said,” Please dream of freedom and sex,
But there is no option to leave the Hell complex.”
The Sargent felt the thermostat was set too high.
His thirsting throat rapidly became parched and dry.
Satan offered him a brew of ghost pepper juice.
Despite an urge to vomit he could not cut loose.
The Sargent asked to tour all the circles of Hell.
Satan laughed and said, “Dante had nothing to tell,
For all his fabulous prose he was never there.
And expect no Purgatory for respite care.”
Sarge said, “Dante the poet would not lie for sooth.”
Satan asked, with a pilot shark smile, “What is truth?”
“Why am I here?” the Sarge in acute anguish cried.
“For enlisting in eternity's losing side!”

Time To Push Back

If we delay pushing back,
Telling others it is wrong to do that,
Putting on a hard hat,
Leaving a one bedroom flat,
Giving bodies less fat,
Chasing the money trail to a fat cat
Smelling a rat,
Going out to bat,
Getting rid of the weeds covering the welcome mat,
Reading the latest crime stat,
Giving a word to the wise, to a bureaucrat,
Making gangs scat,
Checking the thermostat,
Firing a technocrat.

If you can show me, how we will be ok if we don't start pushing back,
And just turn our back on all of that,
That the system will cope and we will all grow fat,
With no freedom being lost if we ignore all that,
That profit after tax will stay pat,
That everybody over 60 will still be able to bat,
That children will have no nightmares,
If we delay pushing back on most of that,
Then I will eat my hat.

Hurt Heart Which Was Torn Apart

Hurt Heart which Was Torn Apart

when I hurt my heart
no longer love from the start
will brake and tear apart

current heart has to do
go ahead and drink a few
trouble about to brew

adjust my thermostat
what we knew right off the bat
will buy cat named Pat

when dumber than doormat
had my hat hangingg from thermostat
while being a big brat

Surviving Winter

The holidays are history and winter settles in with
its pain-in-the-rear wind chill; a light covering
of snow finally brightens the mood for a day or two
until it’s washed away by rain. The sump is broken and the
north end of the basement floods.

The overdue heating bill on the desk screams at me,
telepathically, for attention; a red circle on the
calendar says a check is coming and my crusty eyes
begin to widen. But since it’s already been spent,
they quickly narrow and re-crust.

The soothsaying marmot sees no shadow, and my mood
stays low as the thermostat stays high; hey folks:
it’s February and things are supposed to get warmer,
right? Pitchers and catchers report, but I’m not there,
so I might as well be in Helsinki.

Things should get better in March, but we’re greeted
by a mother of blizzards; however, the next day it warms
and snow drifts disappear like vanilla ice cream on hot
pie. By six-thirty, the sun still hasn’t set. Sump’s still broken,
but I have wide eyes and a smile.

Curriculum Vitae

I’m a servant of the universe
My rank is junior minder.
I care for the solar system
As its oiler and winder.
Everything is done
To a very strict rota,
Checking every cog
And cleaning every motor.
The star has its thermostat
Rigidly checked and set
Its fuel delivery schedule
Very rigorously met.
Each planet has its key
Kept on its own ring
So I can check and fix
Each internal spring:
Wind it too tight,
The planet runs fast.
Not tight enough
The wind won’t last.
I once got it wrong
In my apprentice stage,
Wiped out the dinosaurs
And caused an ice age.
You can imagine all the ribbing
At the staff centennial dinner
Apprentice of the moment?
Never was the winner.
I have my own staff now
The systems work just fine.
Guess it should last right
‘Til the end of time.

Premium MemberMonitoring the Thermostat

Temperatures have plummeted for November,
And I am monitoring my thermostat setting
Snow is expected, normally, not until December,
Temperatures have plummeted for November
My fireplace is a-glow with hot ash and ember
I suspect sleet and snow we’ll soon be getting
Temperatures have plummeted for November
And I am monitoring my thermostat setting.

Getting My Bearings

It's either too hot or too cold here,
the thermostat in hell must be broke again.
Maybe this is Purgatory
i'm told the Governor of purgatory
can't fix anything and he dithers a lot.

Someone has turned down
the dimmer switch in my mind -
hard to see my thoughts.

Foods a bit stodgy
and there's a shortage of porta-potties.
It’s quite heavenly here on the weekends
and during most 'happy hours',
otherwise there's much murkiness.

I’m driving down a four lane highway
squinting into the foggy rain,
now I see a road sign;
well look at that
it says: 'Welcome to Ohio'.
