I lay on the dry silken grass.
Tall thin reeds hide the sun,
but not the deep blue sky.
I watch the woollen clouds
chasing each other,
feel the soothing breeze,
listen to where the waters meet.
The river flows, a soothing strain,
sonority unrestrained.
Lethargy grips my soul.
I am loathe to move,
I lay supine, quiescent
like a stick in the mud.
Forget the week's travails.
Little did I dream that
just round the bend
you too were resting all alone.
We could have met,
and lay together, hearts entwined.
Would you have crowned my bliss?
Where you really there?
At last I wake and walk around the bend,
only to find that you were gone.
We fear nothingness
When there is no sign of storms
We fear existence
The moment of time ticking past
Inevitably, we find ourselves
Seeking comfort in the past
Because that’s all we know
We’re all just trying to
Find a piece of peace in the chaos
We fear the unknown
A stick in the mud
In stubbornness
Ironically
We only realize our mistakes
Regret
When it is just too late
But that’s how
We grow
We fall apart
Dancing with tears in our eyes
Fighting, just to keep standing
We lose sight of what is important
When it is long gone
Out of our reach
We are all the same
We are all different
We are just human
We renew ourselves at each fitting bit,
Our traits of today will be obsolete,
We progress with time or be a misfit,
Most are limited and are bittersweet.
The ills and cures of our modern culture,
We roll with the punches be limited,
Few have the strength at a crucial juncture,
heeding through our faults is definitive.
Our veiled society fears to drawback,
the curtains of the future and opts to,
be a stick-in-the-mud or a throwback,
nonconformist, just live without a clue.
Like the dinosaurs, they will disappear,
Masterminds will create a new frontier.

Presumptuous view, condescending stance,
It is my world, and it should be my world,
Dictatorial, absolute nonsense,
That's not the real world, but a dream world.
Egotistical arrogant mindset,
Our lives have been encrypted since our birth,
Russia, the change ended the Soviet,
So it is plain, accept change, brings great mirth.
Differences broaden horizons best,
Not be a stick-in-the-mud, but go with
the flow, changes give everybody zest,
it is the gospel truth and not a myth.
Leave your home with both eyes wide open but,
Then see the world and give it all you got.

Glue sticks stick together paper
Chop sticks might stick food in your mouth
Lip sticks bring attention to lips
Chap sticks make sure they don't go south!
There are drum sticks to beat a drum
And some known as finger lickin'
A tasty treat to make all smile,
Except of course, for the chicken!
Some sticks we don't miss very much
Like stick ball a game that we had
Or bad smell coming from a skunk
Oh wait, that is a stink, (my bad!)
Some known as a stick in the mud
May be hoping not to stick out
Sticking with it may yield reward
"Stick it!", you hope no one will shout!
A walking stick helps with your gait
Sticks and stones won't break bones of mine
Keep those sticks and hope they're not stuck
Any place where the sun don't shine!
Here I am
a pin-cushioned thumbtack
stuck in my ways
like a stick in the mud
or a telephone pole
obstructing the gorgeous view
of a T-Mobile tower
flapping my wires
&
watching the crows
pass me over on by.

One wild happy-go-lucky senryu
Was caught impersonating a haiku
They levied no fines
But removed two lines
Now she's a stick-in-the-mud monoku
English is a strange language, a strange language is she
English is a strange tongue, a strange tongue is she
If you are tickled pink, did something tickle your fancy?
And if your fancy's been tickled, is it necessarily pink?
English is a strange language, a strange language is she
If you are as proud as punch, are you as pleased as punch?
If you are pleased as punch, are you as proud as punch?
English is a strange tongue, a strange tongue is she
Is a stick-in-the-mud actually stuck in the mud?
Does a jolly good fellow always have a jolly good time?
English is a strange language, a strange language is she
Is a ratfink any different from a dirty rat?
Is a wimp always a wuss? A wuss always a wimp?
~ And where does that leave a snowflake?
English is a strange tongue, a strange tongue is she
A complex amalgam of German, Latin, French and others

A Stick In The Mud
the ground was wet on that hot day
beautiful ashes torn in the mockery of its sphere
yet I stand alone here waiting
waiting for a next move to be made
my couch is my friend
a dismal purpose to construct my laziness
onto a distant land I seek yet alone on my two feet
I washed the residue off my face
this time I see a mere reflection of what's good inside
days of endless worry in such a reflective way
humble myself to bow the knee to pray
words can express the love that one has inside
Some search as if nomadic herdsmen in sight
others ponder the reluctance to reach heaven's door
still inside there are screams falling apart at the seams
we sweep the rubbish under the rug
falling head long into the vile extreme
we slowly come unglued as fools learn to swim
yet I'm stuck in the mud with the hope to endure
the steam of hot lava erupting from within
one can become carnal if their head is not on straight
tossing and turning through the madness of the day
release the fire from within to find the hidden desire with out
a cause to reflect in its sparkling array of brilliance intact
Who are you,
To judge what I do,
Who are you,
To act as if you have a clue,
Who are you,
To say you know me,
You don't walk in my shoes,
Who are you,
In business thats not yours,
Who are you,
To knock someone down,
When they come to the door,
Who are you,
To act as if you care,
Thats why you have no friends,
Because you seem to know it all,
Thats around up in thin air,
Who are you,
To act as if your god,
Who are you,
To make others feel like a stick in the mud,
Who are you,
With a bad attitude,
Maybe your hiding,
Excess luggage,
Dig your own whole,
Let yourself burn,
Figure out who you are,
Before you have no where to turn....
A Tribute To Peter Duggan
What can I say as tribute to this great man
the kindness in his poems just beams out
His great love of Nature, family and life can
cause my heart to rise up and sing out!
First, I saw a man writing with a sweet soul
with clear flowing waters in his stream
Writing about good and even about life's toll
never lets up on heart and mind's dream!
Rivers he knew just like his own huge heart
a man of passion that danced with glee
Yes, he wrote with gold right from the start
honorable man, great poet he surely be!
Love of all life, family and his darling wife
Peter ran a path I dreamed of as well
Never one to mince words about past strife
he inked the page, often giving it hell!
Poetry seemed melted into his Aussie blood
sweet verses he grew as Nature's flowers
Energetic and valiant, no stick in the mud
his poems were all like Spring showers!
Nothing more to say except tribute is sincere
would love to meet he and family some day
Where our gathering would bring all good cheer
Thank God if that blessing came my way!

You filthy rodent
Why did you eat up my plants?
You're a stubborn pest
You stick in the mud
Why did you chew up my crops?
You're very naughty!
Shame on you, silly, hairless rodent!
Remind me to buy some chicken wire or rodent traps!

Dedicated to a church friend by the name of Pearl
She has a big front yard and a huge back yard
Bumps in the Road
Life is going sweet
Life is going good
When you finally got the beat
Your a stick in the mud
Don't let it bring your down
You still got the whole song
You'll make it all good some how
You can still go on
Don't let anybody tell you
That your going to fail
Don't let them tell you what to do
Don't stop when you break a nail
Sandra was ready to PLAY
but she told me to go far AWAY
A beauty school QUEEN
would be embarrassed to be SEEN
"You're just not my type,Rodger...if ya know what I MEAN?!"
Ok..so I am not quite the STUD
But at least i'm no Elmer FUDD
Nerds hate to be picked out
however, they are no stick in the MUD
She cherishes RICK
Even though he acts like a -ICK
His Abs are lean and MEAN
A Tom Selleck lookalike MACHINE
They like to blow FACE
and spray me with her can of MACE
This four-eyed man with his pocket protector
Just got burnt by Society's perfect RACE
A chump out of SCHOOL
He is forever a FOOL
The Lasses want tight ASSES
Not a simpleton who can't help but DROOL
The world can kick THEE
Middle-class bullies still pick on ME
I only answer to the man(upstairs)
He's the only one to set me FREE
