“If you scratch my back,”
said the cuttlefish,
“I'll scratch yours, my dear,
for you're really quite a dish!”
“If we were to wed,
'neath overhead night starry,
upon the ocean bed,”
replied the calamari,
“just think,
when the ink
has dried,
together
we'll be tied,
I'll be your Belle,
you'll be my Beau,
and happily we'll be,
ever after... squid pro quo.”

starry sky above....
the ‘night queen’ perfumes the air
as your arms wrap me~
your warm breath falls on my neck.
wingless I fly like a bird

Charcoal black starry sky :
forming tapestry
of shiny blue gems
on hazy Milky Way.
Darkness fight with star beam !
Hide and Seek games.

One More Cow, One More Sow
Another acre cultivated
By a shining plough
The farmer’s son takes off his hat
Wiping the sweat from his brow
Their productive loans are being called in
Lives changed at the financier’s whim
To survive, they’ll work for life and limb
Yet their malnourished bones are wearing thin
The processor purchases milk below cost
And no buyers for our fields of maize
It looks like all hope is now lost
It seems, rarely these days
That honest work ever pays
One More Cow, One More Sow
We are coming closer, acre by acre
Until we use our Starry Plough
Let’s grow a harvest from the soil
And struggle living from our toil

Looking out my back door as the day slowly dies
the sun bleeding colours across the endless skies
of all the hopes I ever had
I never knew would come through
I was hoping for something would show me what to do
watching from my window the night was on the rise
the moon spreading silver above the cloudy skies
of all the dreams I ever had
I never thought would come true
I was dreaming of someone would tell me what to do
hold on to your dreams
(the planets and stars)
and you can fly to the Moon, Venus, Jupiter and Mars
followed my heart wandered into the night
with a case full of hopes wishes and desires
down the path less traveled 'twas a starry sight
and there at the beach I understood
I could be whatever I wanted to be
if I held on to my dreams
and remained true to me

When eventide comes to enfold the light
Cerulean haze slither into the spiraling sky
While starlight speckled midnight's dainty face
'Neath the cascade of their aureolin glow
The valley descends into slumber deep
As lilting waves beguiled the crescent's beam
Selene's eyes delight in these astral blooms
Where dreams scaffold the myriad of stars
Forged in sleep by lunar fire
They are leaves swirling in turbulent space
Phosphorous blood, dazzling through serpentine veins
Cradled along the night by interstellar dust
Cosmic heartbeats twinkling in the galaxy's esse
Hark! A starry garden--the master's work of art

A cascade of swirls curled in the sky.
Enveloping a host of ghostly nebula galaxies,
glowing like a myriad of phosphorous flares,
sent aloft to glisten in starry, starry eyes.
The moon was off
the scene somewhere,
humming to itself,
the haunting mantra lilt
of a lunar lullaby,
only it knows can put a smile,
on its pocked blotched face.
When the big bang boom goes off,
the moon will lift its head,
rise to awaken half-faced, and glide through
the serpentine, entwining starry veils,
along the slither slide of the milky way.

"People expect all stories of abuse
to be loud and angry
but they're not.
Sometimes they're quiet and cruel
and swept under the rug." ~ Trista Mateer
When the sky sips wild thyme,
and the sun savors swells of zenith,
like the sakura essence of spring,
I feel beyond the blushing blues,
the bruised silhouette of victimized wind,
fighting the heinous heat, while barely breathing;
for she did not ask the soulless predators;
familiar fangs, disguised as servers of diamonds,
to steal the innocence from her starry night,
staining the air with bleeding grief,
now the horizon sits ~ a silent spectator~
to a virtue stolen, left to ashes and dust,
of heartbeats soaked in crimson tears...

A Starry Summer's Night
An
observed
perception
of time is seen
from a hotel room
window in front of a
stony beach and linden trees
on a calm, starry summer night,
where starlight reflects off the waters
of a secluded Norwegian fjord.

Pink skies infest the starry dark.
Pest sprays reject the fireflies’ spark.
Bald eagles chopped by green windmills.
Right whales lie beached as sonar kills.
Rage that I can no longer view,
Bids my sense of wonder adieux.

A Starry Winter's Night
Stars
twinkling
in the skies
above Norway
on a winter’s night
entertain stargazers
(circumspect of the weather)
observing the phenomena,
who embed memories in their minds
for recollection when in pensive moods.

When Vincent stumbled home that night through a drizzle of rain ~
what was going on inside that teeming, torturous brain?
Did he blaspheme heaven with every profanity and curse?
Or did he gaze in awe at the stars of his exploding universe,
and try to make of their blue and yellow light a poultice for his pain?
