appears a Roman goddess
halo affects adorn as spears on a diadem
Her torch enlightens the world
flames are gilded in 24K gold
reflecting the sun's rays, looming She is not
for the floodlights illumine night’s darkest hours
the French had created Her
Americans built Her a concrete pillar
the old raised funds as the young saved their pennies
grounded granite pedestal protects from blue bolt strikes
disassembled in toto scattered and strewn She was
93m in height
neoclassic colossal copper sculpture
oxidized to muted green an outer patina
broken chains at Her feet breaking free from tyranny and servitude
typifies a democratic government
She faces southeast welcoming all arrivals transversing the sea
France gifted Americans, brothers of liberty
against sepia skies, streaked layers, cream colored clouds
a silhouette stands on Liberty Island
My granddaughter is the cutest girl in Texas.
Maybe even in the whole southeast of the USA.
She was the most boastful grandma we met that day.
And we are all grandmas, with our hair of gray.
If I show you a picture it will dazzle your eyes out.
Her bragging was ridiculous, took form of a shout.
We said sure we’ll take a peek, and a peek we did.
She was not wrong; her granddaughter was a really cute kid!
Tropical Impressionist ascenders,
colorist defenders were everywhere,
Multicolored Malay Lacewings ... there,
added ambiance to the fanfare years,
the species are restricted to forest
reserves due to its flowering host plant,
Adenia's, in the regions, cate's length,
colors change, sociable, pupae process,
soon a new adult emerges and mates,
confirming progressions of the species.
Unique to Asian Isles in the Southeast,
black, white, yellow, red, bluish saturates.
Monet at a distance would have caught flight,
colorful butterflies, shadow's midst light.
Unthinkable odds descriptive recounts,
The Venus Flytrap, U.S.A, amounts.
Unique to Carolina's, north and south,
triggers sensory hairs in its hinged mouth.
Small insect or arachnid alerts trap,
then leafy draws down close up tight till snap.
Carnivorous plants like soft and sober
subtropical wetlands southeast seaboard.
The Venus Flytrap is the most active
of such species. Sweet nectar's retractive
luring potential prey into its clout
closed-door policy, check-in don't check out.
Some Venus Flytraps make place most hostile
bug-free surroundings are most possible.
Or nearby country lanes and quaint front yards,
are the Eucalyptus Rainbow, streaked trees,
found in Southeast Asia island countries.
Two hundred twenty-foot tall tree safeguards,
its ninety-four-inch smooth orange-tint trunk,
growing in the lowlands and rainforest,
wood makes paper and cosmetics cherished.
It's pale green, red, grey, and puce, a slam dunk,
breathtaking wonderment countryside greats,
eye-catching kaleidoscopic spectrum,
arrangement stretched far away, no breadcrumb.
The advocate of nature illustrates,
through collective documents and accounts,
unthinkable odds descriptive recounts.
Scraping this rhyme from pages of blood pages of sweat
Wild demon
With a violent voice echoed by saturated bleeding sunlight
Hijacked innocence Winter's pariah falls into the fervent shade
My Old town picks up the pieces of a broken heart
My Old town would takes me dancing and gets us some drink
The patina of youth brushed with Fripp and mixed by Eno
Those who stand out
Make it a point to go their own direction
The way of the Gypsies and Witches those that hear that last shout
The people who see a foretelling dream
I can't believe we don't know our power
They say if we all wished together
It would come true
Shadows of darkness towers over a warm soft night
Contempt paints
Portraits of serenity's preserved heart
Yo peace please come to me
Think it through and get it right
Take me home tonight
Your kiss is a mystery I want to solve
A gift you talk to me and I evolve
From my cocoon find me brown but in bloom
White wings of love fly me to the moon
If you don't fall for me maybe I don't care
After all you are my muse with natural kinky hair
Cherry challenge a call to trust fate will be shared
Love to hear you talk and I like that you stare
You are a silver star in my onyx sky each night
Even though we are apart together we will be alright
You were born in the west and I in the southeast
Cupid gives us a timed test that we will pass easy
For we are of the fire sign we share optimistic views
Both creative cordial kind with empathetic grooves
I do hear you when you say I'm beautiful and I feel
You see me as you are today so beautiful and real
He rode a trail from out west.
Twas at the sawbone's behest.
As he turned southeast,
Ran into Cochise.
So, now He's Mincemeat, They said.
McKee Springs petroglyphs
southeast flank of the Ulnta Mountains
twenty-two miles past Quarry Visitor Center
a long ways from Kansas City
take island park Road
it is impassible during wet or winter weather
call and ask before you attempt passage
do not touch the story-telling petroglyphs
they are fragile and irreplaceable
do not trace or rub, you could ruin them
the park is heavily patrolled too
dinosaur remains are visible there also
embedded in the rocks
hinting at earlier civilizations and species
both cultures there to view and visualize as you may
feelings of connectedness with both ancients and dinosaurs
found few places in the continental USA
but found there
Olvera Street
It's where we're spending Mother’s Day
Children run around La Calle, and play
La placita de Olvera Street
Family's coming, it’s where we’ll meet
We’ll do some shopping with the merchants there
Spend time at the Candela Shop Square
Spiced and decorated, colorful and unusual candles
Buy a pair of huaraches, traditional Mexican sandals
Time for a new peasant blouse and a shirt that says Chicana
We’ll lunch at the famous taquitos place and listen to some Mana
Olvera Street is in the oldest part of Downtown Los Angeles, California, USA
El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Monument. Historically, it abutted the original Chinatown, which was later removed to its modern location to make way for Union Station. There are 27 buildings of various ages still standing.
Los Angeles was founded in 1781 by Spanish pobladores, on a site southeast of today's Olvera Street near the Los Angeles River. They consisted of 11 families and were accompanied by a few Spanish soldiers. The new town was named El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora Reina de los Ángeles.
Arctic opens giant mouth
Blows chilled breath
Across the frozen tundra
Down, down across state after state
Heading south, southeast dipping deep
Poet sits with chilled ankles and feet
By the glow of her computer moon
North winds whip naked oaks
Uninvited breeze enters seemingly safe room
Heat pump's silence exacerbates
Wind gust's lifting of the roof
Stirring of the wind chimes
Their hollow sound being driven
Into a voice of frenzy
A thinning, gray headed man snores
Heat pump clicks on
Temporary relief for chilled feet
As the poet tries to visualize
Those oaks that get no relief
Except when gusts slow
Oaks' dead brown leaves are tossed
Dried, crinkled left 'pon the cold earth
As a temporary blanket of warmth
Strong gusts break weakened limbs
Their occasional crash frightens
Any leaf left hanging by a brittle stem gives way
To the breath blown from the arctic's giant mouth

Running wild in Southeast
Flying with burning flames
Pride from the East.
Great grandfather tree was wizen and wise.
He kept to himself, southeast of where the crow flies.
We ventured toward him whenever we needed advice.
He was usually entertaining the ducks, locust and mice.
Everyone in the woods gravitated to Great grandfather tree.
His advice was sage, succinct, and as easy to follow as could be.
You almost never got to speak to him alone, he was surrounded by kin.
Sometimes they had to part to let you wander on in.
There comes a time in age of man
When the earth waves goodbye to the sun
A lonely tune, a final shun
Twenty one hundred and twenty one
Two mistresses at war
Not counting the genuine
When the raging goes that far
All angels make a whine
For the union of the supreme
Is as mighty as the sun
The raging in extreme
Throws the flame that does not shun
Whether east or the west
The southeast or the northwest
Two mighty stones in contention
Will cast the flame of annihilation
The atoms in agitation
Will cast the beams of total unrest
The mighty east and the clever west
Will shed tear in sour regret
We split the cost to dig a well in a small community in Uganda, Africa.
We did this in or about 2006, more than 35 years after his service in Vietnam. My friend, George, fought gallantly in the war against the enemy in Southeast Asia. Unfortunately, our friendship was short-lived, and I do not remember if he caught enemy fire there.
He returned home safely to America, but not before Agent Orange had entered his body. Sadly, George's battle with what was believed to be the results of Agent Orange proved to be fatal. As I write this, my watery eyes see his swollen body as it lay dying in the hospital room in 2007.
My wife and I with another couple visited George in the hospital. He passed away the next day. George's service to his country in Vietnam was not in vain, and the well we funded still provides clean water in Uganda.
