i hope you never stop singing

a songbird beloved who moves with intention
   will find themselves in times of trouble 
   mother mary on their bustier—
   a sight for those with the privilege to see.

stands on a paddleboard oaring towards me.

embodies a world full of pain in their bones 
   and their muscles

Heart-strings

heart-strings hum-ming, beat-ing,
songs rise-ing, soar-ing.

Please keep on singing

Tie me like Ulysses,
I don’t want 
 run to death
hearing those songs!
Bind me Lord!
But you keep on singing!
The sins are not yours
for the shores I crave
or the eyes I seek
or the thrills of my restless soul!
I beg you to keep on singing.

gently playing against the ache
of a silent knowing,

star, reflecting all

At our cabin in the mountains we love to wake up early
as the day is just beginning…
and listen to the birds warm up…
as they ready their voices for the singing.

Melody of the west wind
Wafts into the courtyard
Tickling the fresh buds of an apple tree

A ditty I make up in honor of wind
An appreciative cloud gives me a nod

He is not as easily won over as wind or cloud

Today I’m grateful for the poet Rumi’s understanding of singing birds
from the largest raven…to the smallest bobolink…
