Jewish, Hindu, ,Catholic, C of E,
Muslim, Pagan, Sikh, which should I be.
If it's a matter of faith I don't really care,
It's whichever brings me comfort as I sit in my chair.
All of them aim to do nothing but good,
So I'll take a mixture and just live as I should.

Unique
I heard, exaggerations, so to speak,
Of where in the world their clothes ware is chic,
In India it's awesome said a Sikh,
Free-flowing sari so graceful and meek,
On Java, fabric prints known as batik,
Smooth Indonesians make profits they eke,
When in Afghanistan argued Derrick,
They wear burqas, fear not being *fasiq,
Changed from animal-skin times, that's unique.

*fasiq; an Islamic lawbreaker, a sinner.
I am, though I didn't ask to be,
A woman, a daughter, a sister, a mother.
Born into these roles, and know no other;
Even my name was given to me.
We are, though we didn't ask to be,
(We are born into these roles; we have no choice,
Decided before birth when we had no voice)
Members of a certain ethnicity.
Now others are being forced onto we,
Religious, which includes a certain militancy,
Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Issai, are these our main identity?
All entirely arb-it-rary.
And where in all this is our humanity?
This was not how it was meant to be.
The True God
I exclaimed in astonishment,
There was secular agreement!?
All the folks,
Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Gentile or Jew,
Christians and everyone,
They bowed before one god,
O’ bless us almighty lord,
Thou art the only hope,
Bless us before it is to late,
Bless us, bless us dear internet!
Save us from the site cookies,
End our suffering,
Accept our offering,
Increase our surfing speed,
Oh Lord bless us with a noble deed,
Bless us before it is to late,
Bless us, bless us dear internet!
“Save you I will!”
I am the key to knowledge,
I am the master of arts,
I am the source of inspiration,
I can end your starvation,
I am the answer of every question,
I am the means to the end,
Reality I can bend,
“Bless you I will”
“Bless you I will”
“Bless us he will,
By using our data for us,
By taking our passwords for us,
By leaking our data for us,
What use is such a god of,
Whose deeds are so gross?”
Said I,
Keeping my spirits high,
Keeping my Spirits High…..
“Hey, google, do my homework,
The net is important, this is no lie.!”

I had another one of those moments this week,
Although I did not feel weak,
Or meek,
And certainly not a freak,
As the tears ran down my cheek.
I doubt the validity of anyone who watched the Indian production,
Of the 1897 battle of Saragarhi,
And never got a little weepy.
I had to look up to see if the events were true,
Before I could relate to you,
How an outpost manned by so few,
Held out so long until death was their due,
So, the people in nearby forts, were rescued on cue.
21 brave Sikh,
Who fought in bare feet,
Achieving an impossible feat.
Honoured by the British under whose flag they fought,
Their homeland their only motivating thought,
As for long hours they kept the enemy out,
Even after their ammunition ran out.
It is a celebrated military event,
Even after more than a century people still lament,
While honouring what such bravery meant.
I will now always remember the 12th of September,
And my heart will feel tender,
Because of the event and the movie that brought tears to such an extent.

But the mixed fans will thrill; even a turbaned Sikh)

English Haiku
"may be" hope is fulfilled if happiness is not there, there is trouble.
"may be" the courage is there,if it breaks, than the person has just fallen .
"may be" there is no cast or no pat .....neither is it hindu, neither is it a muslim, nor is it a sikh or is a christian .....it is probably humanity which is equal in every part.
leaving hone ,starting a new job, falling back and falling asleep, every person spent life in this world....
this is no less than the blessings of god who gives hope to a person to live...if anyone smiles, achieves sucess,if he gets the hope, this might
twenty one soldiers waited their fate
twenty one soldier's ready to defend
would give up their lives in the call
to keep the fort....not let it fall
the afghans invaded in great strength
the valiant sikh soldiers gave their all
sikhs in total killed 600 men ..gave their lives
when they answered the commanders call
this was a battle in 1869
battle of saragarhi was its name
a temple was built in 2003 ...to
commemorate their fame.
a movie called 21 Sikhs has been made, reminding all of the valiant Sikh soldiers
an insane battle 21 Sikhs against many hundreds of Afghans
Once a little girl named Monique
Dreamt of opening up a boutique
Between the creek and clinique
Thought long of every technique
Her sign above would be no antique
It would glow and actually speak
“Hello we’re MYSTIQUE -
Open every day of the week
Come on in, have a peek
We sell clothes that are chic
Indian silks from the Sikh
Colourful lace and batik
For women of every physique
You’ll love us, we’re unique
And for lunch, stay fill your beak
Try Mom’s soup of fenugreek and leek“
While others were playing hide-and-seek
Little Monique dreamt of opening her boutique

How do I shed the label
of a white oppressive man
Do I listen to the message
of Obama's "Yes we can!"
Perhaps I'll go out marching
With women take to the streets
Hold placards of "Black Lives Matter"
While trying to feel their pained heart beats
Still I wonder should I feel guilty
for horrible things my race has done
Or would it not be better
If I instead loved everyone
My friends are many religions
Jewish, Muslim, Christian Too
I've conversed with Jehovah witnesses
if you are Sikh I can learn from you
I'm unconcerned with color
or the kind of clothes you wear
I'm more interested in your story
and the heart you're willing to share
Don't see me as an enemy
Just because my skin is white
Understanding will replace our fear
Conversations can make things right
No one wants to be looked at
through the lens of a clouded eye
If you and I are both willing
a different logic will apply
In the end we are brothers and sisters
there is but one human race
Each person wants a sense of belonging
It's up to us to create that space.

Limerick : Once a sick Sikh in a great hurry
Once a sick Sikh in a great hurry
Went to see a doctor after (a) hot curry
He hurried back mid-way
You know why so don’t bray
Now (he) sees doctors only when merry.
or
Since (he) sees doctors under a lorry
or
Now he sees proctors I’m so sorry.
