Mud Egret

. . . gray mist whiffs low

                 egret, buffalo's back

                           weeds green, mud black . . .

Thelonius Monk

Thelonius Monk
we must credit with the first ever Tomahawk Dunk
in between riffs
he was in no way discouraged by his occasional whiffs.

Borders

ice coated fence posts

      punctuate the snowy trail…

          frosty whiffs of breath

Fuchsia Blooms Suckle

fuchsia blooms suckle
scenic whiffs on sultry wind
in cloud-filled dreams still
shaken with a poignant sting
trapped in seaside's rustic pine

Weird Weeds - Mar 2

The witch of the woods watches from the window,
While willows’ webs weave wildly in the wind,
And wicked whiffs of worm-water are wafting
From the whirling well of woe and wallow.

Orange

Hawaiian sunsets -
my freckled legs wade through it
whiffs of a beach-fire
take me back to childhood days
close 'nough to warm, but not scorch

Nightfall

Her hush rolls like folding scrolls
Gentle breeze, whiffs of anise
Fire, cream puff desire
Soft sorbet, goosebump display
Draw back of kite, lull of light
Descending easel bending
Blackboard slate, forgiveness' weight

In Bloom soon

Moon
Glowing
Full and bright
Luminescent,
The sun is close by,
There is a soothing breeze
My heart is beating wildly
Whiffs of fragrance pervade the night
My beloved is close by, she’s here
My heart lights up with luminescent glow.

Overs

Unforgiving rocky crag
    juts
into empty space
hanging
on a whisper of frozen
   exhale
Puffy whiffs rise
oh
   so
      gently
lazy
Icy death on misslip
slippery ledge
free
     fall
         forgiveness
tumble me silent
     after all ...

She Dances

She dances she glances
Beyond her shoulder
She peers
Looking back
Her beautiful smile
She poses in the mirror

He weighs his chances
Returns her glances
Then whiffs
Of cheap scent
Reveal a fake smile
In shattered reflection

Glow of Autumn

We lounge together by the sea
In a bower -filled pasture on high,
With musings shared intimately
As a temperate breeze whiffs nearby,
sliding through words upon breath’s air
That enter our pores, a glow that trails
As hearts lay bare on one autumn day.

Elk Walk - the Rancher

Elk Walk

           elk walk in snow to
find a morsel in warm fount
         beyond, fields beacons

                The Rancher

          morning frost twinkles
      while rancher sips coffee and
            whiffs new arrivals

Amber Afternoon

Breathtakingly vast,

the green plains bask with delight

          in the amber afternoon sunlight;

                    across the skyline float

                         cottony whiffs of clouds low-lying,

left behind, it seems, by birds slow-flying.

MY BROKEN PAST

The wind stroking my eyebrows
As I try to assuage my sorrows
The guilts of my past
Lie await in my path

My yesterday has become an assassin
That exterminates the enthusiasm of my tomorrow
My today whiffs with the redolence of sin
As all my drives are engulfed in sorrow

The Sea Guides

We lounge together by the sea
In a bower filled meadow on high,
And he shares musings intimately
While a magical breeze whiffs nearby,
sliding through words through breath’s air
That enters my pores, a flow that guides
As hearts lay bare on moon’s prayer;
For silence knows how love abides.

A New Day

Wetness comes
In the morning dew
Until the suns heat
Warms the leaf

Glittering sparkles
Light up the wet dew
Brightening each day
Reflections of smiles

Whiffs of Lilac
Through the air
A sent of spring
A new day begins

Yesterday is over
Time to plant new clover
For luck in four
A new day has begun

Hungry Seagulls - Haiku Sequence

picnic tables
scattered in the park
awaiting the sun

radio belts out tunes

Lake Lanao Afternoon

Breathtakingly broad and vast,
   dark-green plains and hills bask
        in mute delight

in the amber late afternoon
   by the blue lake's refracted,
        soft sunlight.

Across the faint skyline float
   whiffs of cottony white
        clouds low-lying

like fine feathers left behind
   by hurrying, homesick
        birds low-flying!

Dreams Wander! © Tanka

Crowning ‘glories’ bloom
Scent the breezes upwards overhead
Whiffs bloated full of dreams
Cascade to a downwards place
A wonderful airing out!

FLOWERED PETALS © Tanka

All shaded angles point down
Shadows within the flowers
Silken petals flush
Deepening coloured shadows
On, in-between, down around.

God!And Dog!

When you hear the annoying yaps of them pups.
Remember the gifts they bring as hunters.
Then lose the fear of hungering "cause of luck.
And temper from the whiffs of thier farters.

They act as Alarm clocks and not just for work.
Legally eat a burgler with a well earned meal.
Scares the Cats! an,allyway Frocks?!barely a bark!
Fiercely defencive kuckers!for a stroke and a feel.
