Creativity

Creativity

God created Earth in six days and rested.
From when he resumed, He never rested.
There's no end to creativity; nor creation!

As I Was Walking In the Snow

While walking in the snow in my dream
a stalker blew my whole serene snow scene
threw snowballs at it
which it coughed out and spit
chase resumed by a snow blowing machine

Girl and Cell Phone

Girl and Cell Phone
Dr. James E. Martin
©January, 2014

The phone was stuck to her ear.
Everyone she wanted to hear.
Every moment thus consumed,
Her life not resumed,
Sad life – it doth appear!

A Conflict Within

Low and lonely, but not to succumb
Through warring thoughts a pitfall deep
Ireful, rueful, contort
This speaker’s blunder deemed

Subdued with met solution
Devil’s plot decayed
Ruinous intent aborted
Blithe courage keenly resumed

Premium Member Jesus Resumed

let the Holy Spirit
draw alongside
& convict of sin

be guided into the truth
& of things to be
righteousness you will always see

Premium Member Paraphrasing Mark Twain on Modesty

Modesty antedates clothes and will be resumed when clothes are no more. (Mark Twain)

When Adam donned his fig leaf
Was a sense of decency assumed.
When sons of Adam
Again find it cute
To be comfortable
In their birthday suit
Will simple modesty be resumed.

A Void Myself

i coughed and caught
myself
    between a time
where sense and sight
betrayed
    my common sense
a void myself i disavow
the space a cube
    was less the warmth
a winter brings
a sneeze relieved
    my mystic trance
and the day -- resumed i !

Premium Member Fishercats

Sun’s up
Neighborhood cats
Have resumed their posts
In my yard full of holes
Arms folded, ever alert
Occasionally arching, creeping
And even springing
At giggling gopher ghosts
The felines revel
In having something to do
Getting it done
Would spoil the fun

Spring

written for a contest in 2014

S unlight awakens from the winter’s gloom,
P assing out sunrays in bright yellow plumes,
R esurrecting flowers from sleeping doom,
I nstantly bringing them into full bloom,
N ature’s beauty is alive and resumed,
G ardens now dressed in vibrant costume!

Summer Nights

Summer nights
Bright white light
Laughing friends
Evening thread's
Alcohol consumed
Conversation resumed
All worries lost
At no single cost
Fire burning lightly
Stars shining brightly
Dusk will soon turn to dawn
Myself I will yawn
Wave my friends goodbye
Go to bed, get shut eye

Premium Member Skyward Long

I long
  to disappear
  into this beauty
  all that surrounds me

  to lose myself
  in wings in leaves
  to be carried away
  on a soft summer breeze

I long
  to leave
  not a trace
  where all I have been

  save the imprint on grass
  where upon I did lie
  till each little blade
  resumed tracking the sky

Premium Member Creeping

The shadows were creeping like golden summer,
Upon arising covertly, from crimson dawn mists,
And they shrank at noon to a realm just under,
Then idly resumed, their daring sunshine risks,
'Til plum twilight, and a kingdom they'd missed!

Premium Member stretching the pause

Just before we sleep,
if we dare to leap,
in as meld with space,
we can see God’s face.

For vaporised Self,
life flows by itself,
aflame and aglow,
in staid stillness slow.

Dwelling in the pause,
Self becomes the cause,
as eternal light,
birthing bliss delight.

With ego exhumed,
earth life is resumed,
as was meant to be,
joyous and carefree.

Thou Shalt Not

Five minutes after God wrote the very first commandment.
His kids commenced to slaughter each other.

Sometime later,
a great thinker stood forth and said:
“Hey guys do you think He really meant it?”

“Of course” said one
“Naw” said another vehemently.

One touchy fellow said they were both wrong!

Things got heated.

War broke out, the killing resumed.

What If

What if I had listened from the start
Would you have let me win your heart?
What if I hadn't text or called
Would you have even cared at all?
What if I had left you to be alone
Would your love for me have grown?
What if in life we could turn back time
Would you take me back an just be mine?
What if we could fix are broken wound's
Would are love be greatly resumed?

elevator smash

silent stranger talk
no eye contact

no touching
elevator stops with a jerk,

we are all stuck
I-phones do not get signals.

efforts to be human kick in

silence resumed
humanity strained

elevator etiquette
promotes apathy and ignoring

The Resumption of Life

Before morning sun, Judas sold God’s son. For the resurrection reminds us all of when, Jesus Christ of Nazareth was crucified for our sins. Then he was placed and encased in a tomb, Lifeless, Jesus resumed. Three days he laid alone, Barricaded by a stone. While everyone mourned, Jesus rose on Easter morn. ________________ -For Brian’s contest-

It Came To Me One Day

IT CAME TO ME ONE DAY

IT came to me one day
a silent moment parlayed
with shudder-awakened
i was more than 'me'
a pure disgust
of human physicality
i screamed at the meat
which encased immortality
and bit my tongue thinking
it was infestation within me!
OH the horror of living
without Divine Presence at all

What separation that Gulf of Sin!
To sleep i fell and resumed life.

Premium Member A Sinner No More

No doubt we had sinned
but yet the veils thinned,
revealing clear light,
to our soul’s delight.

Suffering brought tears
and with it dark fears,
by God’s breath exhumed,
as bliss beats resumed.

All we did was feel
life with zest and zeal,
calling out His name,
when we so felt shame.

Love’s trust begets trust,
felt as rapture’s thrust,
pervading our form;
a benign bliss storm.

Premium Member Uncle Datter Wanted a Splatter

platter fell out of cupboard with a loud clatter
mrs mczatter nearly ceased her weird chatter
my uncle datter stopped eating his chocolate cake batter
grandma slatter asked me "what is the matter?"

Platter was metal, so it did not break or shatter
mrs mczatter resumed her incessant pratter
natter and tatter argued who had to pick up the platter
datter wished it had been porcelain "so we would have had a splatter."

In Fair Spring Air

In passing on this bright spring morn,
I smiled, I nodded, said “Hello”:
The mom glimpsed over, grinned my way,
Still wheeled her stroller through warm sun
While, back, I glanced and reminisced
On younger days that filled my life,
On years of kids, the toil and fret;
I glanced once more, resumed my walk,
My wife beside me, hand in mine—
As one, we strolled through fair spring air,
And relished many springs ahead.

Premium Member Tiger Guards His Lady

Tiger’s head raises up quickly. What was that noise?
His lady is sleeping, and he wants quiet in the castle.
A young page whispers a shaky apology and scampers off.
He did not realize that tiger was in the throne room.

The princess stirred but briefly. Tiger held his breath.
He was guarding her and her child, an awesome responsibility.
Given to him by her honor the Queen Mother.
He relaxed when she resumed her slumber.

Wish

Just before release
You looked up at the sky
The world turned pitch black
Even with the sun shining down your back

Eyes trembled
And palms sweat
Time stopped
Never to be resumed again

You wish and wish to turn it back
But suddenly dizziness pulls you out
You realize with a broken heart
The world never stops for anyone

So you do the only thing you can
You drop to your knees
And let the dreadful scream out

A COIN IN THE FOUNTAIN

A COIN IN THE FOUNTAIN

I saw it lay there, in the fountain
Among all the hopes and dreams
Humbled in such rich company
As a mere miserable copper coin
Not so much as that widow’s mite
But worn smooth with age and use
And despite a bright afternoon sun
No gleaming surfaces like the rest
Yet with a shine enough to reflect
A modest wish when it was tossed
That peaceful lives can be resumed
And all painful memories dispersed
