Through the Partnach Gorge,
Super-aerated rapids
Drop past awed climbers.
river rapids roar
like angry lions in summer
suicidal thoughts
[awakened in the middle of the night, May 20, 2021]
river rapids rocks twisting raving— tickets all sold out

And I will tattoo my lost love
to my skin like petals in a river
trapped in the rapids for a time
then released when the last blush
rots to mud
There once was a man from Mozambique
Who went canoeing most every week
A white water battle
Cost him vest and paddle
Now he's really up the freakin' creek
rafting down river
beneath blue sky canopy --
songs of nature play
riding the rapids
tossed up and down to and fro --
summer crescendo
in gurgling rapids
salmon jumping ladders
while grizzlies feast

We shelter secrets, holding them close
and encrypted. Hidden truths,
like submerged rocks that create
snapping undercurrents and choppy,
white-capped rapids for navigating affinities.
Spring
Gone is the cold wind.
Now is the time of sunshine.
Bringing singing birds.
As spawning fish run up stream.
Traversing rapids to home.

The rapids
of emotions
have flooded
a heart,
drowning her love
into an abyss
of darkness;
all that is left
are the gentle
drifting ripples
of a once,
passionate soul.

A young boy,
Maybe 14,
Stands proud and smiling,
Knee deep in water,
After his first time swimming across
The river rapids.
I miss the days
When such small things
Were such enormous adventures.
soft as silk I switch your solitude for sublime – savoring snuggles
rippled reverie rapids flow in resonance – rhapsodic romance

The bridge to belief
spans a river of doubt
Whose rapids are raging,
whose questions cry out
Each step that I’ve taken,
each tread that I cross
Brings me much closer
—to what I once lost

sparkling rapids rush
in mad haste through green forests
lemon clouds float by
laughing children race
bluebirds fly over the hills
red sun turns around
colored balloons rise
amid dancing in the streets
breezes on the blooms
The Rapids
~~~~~~~~~
Swept about the river of time
In this land of the living
Like so much waste and debris
Many passers in this torrid stream
Its maelstrom of misery, and grandeur
I reach out briefly
And gently touch another such as I
ducks floating down stream
caught in the rapids white crest
as boulders race by
their little webs paddle fast
streamlined and harmonious
as a pond comes into view
Ever flowing
Over-bowling
Borne along,
Again,
By class-five rapids,
A cataract thro’ jagged crags
There is danger here
Out of (my) control
Guided by Peace
Protected by Joy
Himself
The mighty rush of God’s
Poured-out, turbulent love
Make me into a deep life line running it's river across your welcoming words. Toward tomorrow's rushing rapids that drop me in between the veins that you can't see, so that the days and the moments of a future you hope to see rise, just before the sun sets.
