Fun With 'P'
Along a pebbled path,
A panther pressed his paws,
Paying pure attention to,
The placement of his paws.
Pretending to be placid,
(pausing as to play),
The panther purred with pleasure,
As he pounced upon his prey....

Two Cats and a Mouse
Two Cats and a Mouse

There were two cats in one house
One of them liked to roam.
The other preferred to stay home…
There, the catnip mouse she pounced.

Window Kills
I said for sure a window can kill
In the starry night a cat named Bill
Pounced on your dream with overkill
You popped a series of sleeping pill...

Cat's Dinner
Down upon the ground,
   A cat heard a sound,
    And went to investigate,
   It wasn't a bird,
Or a mouse about she heard,
But her dinner, on a plate,
So she pounced on it quick,
   And that was it,
    Then she thought,
   Wow, that was great !...

Tuesday pounced on Monday’s back
They rolled then tumbled through a crack
Wednesday came to sweep the floor
Thursday chased them out the door
Friday shook his weary head
Saturday went straight to bed
Sunday sought his peace in prayers
While Monday waited, by the stairs.....

Terrorists
under cover of darkness,
while the oshanas were feeding
off the cuvelai
the men from the south came silently
disturbing the tilapia from its gentle sleep.
Suddenly they pounced, and the voices
of the women pierced the night
as they dragged our men
to our sacred places
where they tortured them....

One Night
Alone, she noticed footsteps.
Her heart thumping, pulse racing,
She looked over her shoulder.
A hulking dark shape. A man.
She walked faster. So did he.
Heavy breathing. Smell of beer.
Her heart missed a beat. He pounced…

A Funny Rhyme For Kids
ruby the ram
met larry the lamb
to frolic in the fields
as they would hop
they came to a stop
because they met some eels
they slithered and scurried
and the two friends hurried
because they didn't want to get shocked
they pounced and ran
screamed as fast as they can
and all of the eels flocked...

Premium Member Lost Flight
I left the nest one night,
  Fell out!
  My very first flight.
Sparkling dew sprinkled across my feathers.
Soared and twisted in the air,
  Swinging wings,
  I beat the air!
  Scavengers saw me from below.
  Pounced!
  When I got to low.
Lost my heart and a wing,
  Lost my flight.
  But I can still sing!...

Babylon Snatch My Chalice
Just the other day
The vultures pounced on him
They cornered and beat him
He begged for mercy
But the vultures were thirsty
For blood and money
Just because they found
Four joints in his pocket
Dear ghetto
Why do we get malice
Whenever we cry for justice?
Does a man deserve injustice
For smoking herb in a chalice?...

Premium Member Sad Ending for Steampunk Mouse
Steampunk mouse was at the finish line
Driving his teapot with gears so fine
The rest of us chanted the steampunk song
Wanting him to stop and wave at our throng

Steampunk mouse came in first at first
But a ruling was made, second was announced.
Something made this a tiny bit worse…
At finish line a huge cat got him when he pounced....

Roger, Over and Out
Federer’s retiring,
He finally announced.
He hasn’t played in ages, but
The newshounds, they all pounced.

A classy player, through and through,
He ranks up with the best,
To which his many titles
And his sponsors will attest.

It wasn’t a surprise for fans
And yet the message sent
Is that, in tennis circles,
There is something to lament....

The Fight
The more they speculate-

The more my secrets seem to glimmer.

But my secrets and I will vanish if they are pounced upon.

Soon the others follow behind like zombies.

Trying to sneak up steadily.

So that I am forced to dive deeper.

The more I hide, the more I forget what it was like just a few weeks ago…

But someone started this fight....

Bold

 an eagle

Flying high

like everyday.

She saw the prey,

She headed towards the sky,

She took a U turn,

She pounced over it,

She held it in the beak,

She flew far away,

.....A life ended....

the eagle was Bold,

She returned to her nest,

It seemed she won!

God saw her ,

She was feeding her eaglets,

It seemed she won!

KITTENS

my fluffy kitten
when she pounced on big cat
i adored her

they like to chase things
things that tinkle or rattle
so light and so swift

into ev’ry thing
sharp needle claws scratching
shredded furniture

they should make me mad
but they are so innocent
and they are so cute

one thing is certain
once they are inside your door
they are there to stay...

Playing With Words
I found a word inside my head.
It would not go away.
It pounced into my life,
where I watched it purr and play.

It wrapped its fur around my feet,
and then around my pen.
And now it feels quite welcome,
to bring her friends right in.

So when a word,
or worlds of words,
stick in your mind and stay,
give them a home in a
story or a poem,
and let them loose to play....

With claws like those of a Lioness,
Beaks like those of an Eagle and
Horns like those of a raging Rhino,
  All in one entity
  He looked helplessly as they
Swooped on him from from all directions
  No where to run no where to hide;
With eyes shut, expecting the inevitable
As they pounced on him, he woke up with a
  Scream.
Lo!!! It was just another scary dream.!!!!!...

Chairman Meow
The tiger pounced,
Arrived unannounced,
She's Chairman Meow,
Don't know how,
Here anyway,
What to say?
Fine thinking woman this,
Doesn't take any blip,
A femme of self-esteem,
A misogynist's dream!
All dance to her tune,
Is this a tiger moon?
"Yes, dear," men reply,
I only look and sigh,
Why can't I be like that?
Training men--old hat?
Really don't know how,
She's Chairman Meow....

A Champions Retirement
His retirement the champion announced,
After he was in their fight trounced,
And like a tennis ball bounced…
On him had his challenger pounced,
His strength not letting him use an ounce,
And forcing him to hit the canvas, not once!

Soon, the press,
To painfully address,
And meekly renounce,
All that he did archly pronounce…
The cruelest punch finally goes to rest,
For being no longer The Best....

Crystal Ball Contest
Oh crystal ball show me true
The path that God has planned out
Wisdom courage pride envy what
My eyes witnessed this

Waves crashed upon distant shores
Clouds of gray loom over way
Hands clutch n passed thru as air
One road split in 2's

Hard stones pounced flat by feathers
Green fields turned brown n dullness
So what's the point of all this
Change is on the way

Premium Member Stop Giggling You Will Get Me Killed
Stop giggling! Complained the head kitty Blue.
You are going to wake up the hound, you two!
If I fall off this fence and land on that creature’s head.
I will most assuredly be prone, crushed, pounced on and dead.

Her two sister cats tried the best they could to stop.
But along came a cardinal with a one-legged hop.
They ended up waking the dog who chased them like a giraffe.
Maybe tomorrow they told Kitty Blue with a laugh....

Its Not Helpful
It is not helpful to think, to ruminate
on things that cannot be re-thought.
The original is pounced upon
by piggy-back thinkers.
Charge and counter-charge,
nothing changes
thoughts engraved in stone remain.
When a brash mind questions,
rats nibble at ancient foundations.
Better to write poetry,
better to lie then bolster a false truth.
A poem can fabricate
love and hate and still be true.
It's not helpful to think too much
about this....

Cat's Breath
You are the cat that stole my breath.
I was deep in sleep when you snuck in.

Your sleek body crouched down
and crept up, just like your kin.

You pounced on my soul like paper
to be played with by a house cat.

I let your spirit take the bite.
I let myself become the toy mouse

filled with catnip, for your pleasure.
I knew you needed my healing

and I had plenty of energy to give.
Foolishly, I thought I had no feelings.

Eerie Slimericks
Sue and King were just married
In the night they were harried
By the cat and mouse
In their grave top house
Where they were freshly buried

Winter lizards are henpecked
Don’t trust them if they are baked
When clock strikes ten at night
They gather guts to fight
The fried fleas in the plate caked

In Eden there was a thief
He planned to steal Eve’s fig leaf
He burglarized the house
Pounced on Adam’s spouse
And he found a mound of beef...
