He moves down the row
driving a spike into their heads.

I stare at the frog allotted to me.
Small, green,
wide grinning mouth.
It looks like a cartoon drawing,
sat motionless between folded legs,

I half expect it to make a sardonic quip
about the nerdy lab tech
and his thin silver death-prong

Later, my frog is reduced to
just one limb,
attached to an oscillating current.
The leg dances on and on....

This was a term quite new to me
So she explained it so I’d see
It meant she thought the poem was good
She’d put it in her purse – she would
So she could read it any time

A high school junior, I had no girl friend -
alone, as nerdy teens are wont to be.
My friends all said a car could turn the tide;
if I had my own wheels, there'd be no end
of girls who'd need a ride, and might like me
  beside.

I worked to buy a car, then met this doll -
a pretty lass with no wheels! So I tried
to drive her home and test my strategy.
Turns out, she wanted just one thing, that's all -
  a ride!

She’s brilliantly nerdy as they say,
But I think she’s overrated still,
When at work she’s a lazy bee,
Who feels remorsefully adamant
about changing company’s policies 
on genuinely fake products imported,
At home ,she loves sitting on her
Soft hard sofa sipping soft soda,
Surrounded by friends who are sincerely dishonest,
And are backstabbing gentle fellows.
Yet ,she’s still gracious and kind in her ways,
I supremely condemn this false truthful trait…
