High Price

Once you make the same mistake twice
the results begin to come out in a trice
So you will have to pay for that a high price

Wild Birds

Endangered penguins on the ice.
Small tuxedo wearing waiters.
Keep the party warm, in a trice
                     they'll need gaiters.

Mum

My Mum is Lovely,
She is very cuddly,
My Mum is always nice,
She can fix things in a trice,
My Mum is really kind,
Whatever I do she doesn't mind,

The Penguin

THE PENGUIN

The penguin’s no slouch, he’s a winner
By sartorial standards no sinner
He’ll emerge in a trice
From the Antarctic ice
Already dressed for dinner

Premium Member The Latest Dance

There was a pretty young maiden from France
Much too modest to try the latest dance --
   She got some advice
It worked in a trice --
Let loose an ant colony down her pants

Premium Member Treacherous, Their Ways

Treacherous their ways
    without sunlight's rays
  Paths of sleet and ice
break our limbs in a trice

Youths may look, leap and laugh
Elders dare not make this gaffe

Premium Member To Care For a Child

To care for a child
  demands sacrifice
Whatever the need

Premium Member Refurbished Nursery Rhymes: 3 Blind Mice

or...Where's the SPCA when you need 'em?

A farmer's wife who was not very nice
Mutilated a trio of disabled mice.
Each squeaked for its life
As she wielded her knife
And disencumbered them all of their tails in a trice.

OK. Now roll the dice...

Dear Santa I Want

Santa I want, if you please,
all again to feel at ease.
Here on Soup, the place I liked
before all this malice and spite.
Although I risk being next I know.
I'm not afraid of them having a go.
Santa you know who's naughty or nice.
Work your magic in a trice.

Strength of mind and character bold,
A mother of Israel,this lass of old;
Filled with prophetic gifts & advice,
Speaking forth judgments in a trice;
Unafraid, she led forth ,from the front,
Destroying Cana's army in the hunt;
Her victory now, forever in a song,
Feminine leadership recalled e're long.

Honey Bun

I was damaged with a heart like ice.
You entered my life and in a trice
   had melted my frozen layers
     one by one. I've become
       hot as a furnace next
         your skin, my soul
           twin. Let's begin
             to live as one,
               my dearest
                  honey
                   bun.

Birthday Thoughts

I’ve gotten cards, I’ve gotten calls.
Acknowledgement is nice,
But wipe away ten years or so?
I’d do it in a trice.

I wouldn’t want to start again –
Once ‘round is quite enough –
But as the years add up, I’ll soon
Be calling Nature’s bluff.

Yet as it is, I’ll celebrate,
With some I hold so dear,
This date which means I’ve made it through
Another fleeting year.

Premium Member Romantic Breath

steadfast soft stars aloft
in somber amours' mood,
a mere romantic breath
following in silence.
hued lambent music plays
subdued by patient love
not easily shooed away.
a kiss, a kiss, numb, hum
lust in a trice of time.
a wild chime inward braid
intimate desire hold unfolds,
whilst a breath sighs of sails
billowing across dark
freckled celestial waves.

The Scent of Water

Desert dust devils reign supreme
Swirling in conditions extreme

Dry, cracked river bed yawns wide
Depleted source long denied

Armadillo negotiates
Lost to his instinctive traits

He halts to sniff a draught of air
Frenzied digging does then occur

Grubbing for ants, worms or mice?
He digs a deep hole in a trice

Ground darkens to a muddy brown
The scent of water.......his home found.

Premium Member And Millions More

a pebble in the ocean
grain of sand on the shore
an ant on the sidewalk
  and millions more

baby in a bassinet
  or in a high chair
gently placed in a car seat
  tender loving care

some say life's without meaning
  speeding by in a trice
shh! mom and baby are snuggling
  so lovely, so nice

Premium Member Precipice

"Pleasure is the carrot dangled
To lead the ass to market or the precipice"
And when it is astutely angled
It will its objective more than suffice
How many have fallen for such a reward
To find themselves embedded in ice
While hoping for a lustful concord
There comes no greater fall in a trice
When tangled in such a honeyed trap
For which must be paid the price
Of leaping ere you look to take the rap

Premium Member Almost But Not Quite

Thrown a lifeline
To pull us ashore
Arrogance declines
The ego scores

Water near freezing
Not quite yet ice
Latent heat transforming
Matter in a trice

Eons of conditioning
Buried in the subconscious
Gurus grace uplifting
Makes ascension instantaneous

Mere recognition not freedom
It simply plots trajectory
To enter into a Gods kingdom
We need to rewrite our story

Dare we?

Bewitched

The fairer sex
How fair they aren't
When courting is in question
The fairer sex
How good they are
At beguiling and deception

Yet so in depth
Their traps prepared
Beauty - a treacherous invention
I think I know
Their ins and outs
Still this is no protection

From evil spells
For wedding bells
Will cloud your best perception
And in a trice
Your gagged and bound
In an altarly direction

Premium Member O, for a Fortune

What are riches but silver and gold
yet silver and gold can go away

What is wealth but good health
that can vanish in a trice

What greater treasure is there than a happy, loving family
before Disputes, Divorce and Death exact their inevitable toll...

Woe to the man who puts his trust in this world
A fortune has he who serves the Lord ~ eternally happy

Wreckage Construct

Ahead the grim machinery,
  Beneath the diesel tread,
Construct out of wreckage,
  The two are interbred.
The hand of femininity,
  That delicate device,
Disproves it is a man's world,
  Dispels it in a trice.
From ruins and destruction,
  Demolition tinged with doom,
A flower grows regardless,
  A steel magnolia bloom.
Sweet beads of perspiration
  Sweat emotion from the bone,
Her love in hot transmission
Is for you and you alone.

Legal Eagles

'Oyez! Oyez! Oyez! all stand,' said the bailiff before remand, as legal eagles had looked for loopholes, flaws in the law, large enough to lose a lorry, is that what they became lawyers for? If I had taken their advice, blindly handed out to me, I'd have gone directly to jail, if not in a trice. Attorneys, barristers, solicitors, ambulance chasers, searching for victims so they may litigate, seen one you've seen them all, what's not to hate?
