The Scent of Water

Desert dust devils reign supreme Swirling in conditions extreme Dry, cracked river bed yawns wide Depleted source long denied Armadillo negotiates Lost to his instinctive traits He halts to sniff a draught of air Frenzied digging does then occur Grubbing for ants, worms or mice? He digs a deep hole in a trice Ground darkens to a muddy brown The scent of water.......his home found.

just now seeing that you wrote a reply to me. I don't get notifications in my box for them so once in a while I come up on them when I revisit a person's poetry. Yes, we sure can be very well inspired by these contests. It's so great.

Hi Paul, Thank you for your very kind comments and congrats. So pleased you liked it. There is some talk in the pipeline about running trips by hovercrafts from Liverpool to Rhyl in the next 12 months. Similar to the ferry which ran some 40 years ago or so.
