Keep Your Jack-O-Lantern Lit

Remember,
keep your jack-lantern lit
‘cause on this eve should its flame quit,
dead-bolted doors won’t protect you
from baleful spirits pouring through!

Recycling Thoughts

My majority years have bolted
and this Mothers Day
Has left me to suppress thoughts,
from our past,
left curbside as rubbish;
That God never intended
to be recyclable;

Dementia

The horse has bolted
Day is night
Memories flight to County Carlow
when he lives in London SE27
A soft rain is about to fall
when he calls me John
and forgets to feed his cats

Better Luck Next Thyme

A poet once tried to rhyme “turmeric”:
he ate ten big jars, and then murmured “Ick!”
His taste buds murdered,
poor dear old Bernard
bolted up three flights of stairs to be sick.

Here and Now

Where am I?
I thought I was in
The here and now
But I was in the then
I go there many times
I can't always remember when

Lips Locked Loosely

Lips locked loosely
Tell me that I can open them
The door is only stuck
Not dead bolted with strength
And pursing my own mouth
The hinges are undone
While the wind of my breath
Opens your orifice

LOVE - LOVE - LOVE

Just a 4 letter word

A mountain jolted

A heart bolted

Find the magic mix

Like a candle wick

Look for love

Wings of a dove.

Poet Young Older

Poet Young Older
Sat on a Rock
Musing
Swaying
Chiming
Thinking In-to
Thinking Out-of
Time, Space, and Breath
From where Children Bolted
From where Old Men Slept

Sat
and Wept.

Mindful of Bell Unmindful of Crime

the bell rang in a sharp chime,
piercing the viscid night slime,
and alerted many nearby,
who were busy in crimes,
they bolted and ran,
and vowed to keep the bell in mind,
the next time they did the crime.

Closed Door

the door has been closed
it has been bolted and locked
don't try the window

my heart is secure
your words are no longer "keys"
soul sanctuary

image is tarnished
no longer will I welcome
a fallen hero

Surrender

Slam.
Closed, the door locked,
bolts bolted,
window sash fused,
window sash fused.

Vehement and implacable,
the wind scowls
gouging an inescapable path,
splitting and cracking,
branches ache,
binds break,
white flag quivers.

Why resist?
surrender!

Smoked Surprise

Smoked Surprise!

Basking in new found love, just like a pair of swans,
To sweep him off with her delish delight was the plan!
Baking, making, waiting,
Din’t know when went dozing!
She bolted in a cloud of smoke and at the door was a fireman!

Pain

P	ersistent , aching, gnawing, throbbing each with its measured degree

A	ll these are effortless words describing a state of being

I	ndescribable though is pain from personal grief when heart and spirit lay broken

N	o beating heart escapes, 'less its doors be sealed, shut and bolted

Blossoms of God

The Japanese cherry blossom
Trembles beneath my window,
I think back to when
I thought I saw god in the bloom.

Walking the mile
To the locked up church,
Bolted fast, heavy oak,
My stomach churning

With apprehension,
And disappointment
At finding its emptiness
Laid bare in the sunlight.

A Bloodcurdling Moment

One dark eerie Halloween night,
Count Dracula gave me a fright.
His pointed teeth gleamed,
I bolted and screamed,
When he asked me out for a bite!

Lunch Hour Redemption

A mercury-free tin of tuna fish
bolted down, gagging all the way
To the accompaniment of gossipy lips
a revolting noon hour this hot day

A walk inside COVID's masked prison
did not appeal to me either
Tossed the tin in the can with a certain elan
Farewell, tuna fish; unleashed, my inner Tarzan

For All To Behold

you didn't travel this far alone

a demented kinship

a exalted sense of self is fastened upon your crown

bolted deep into your skull

rancid marrow flows through your bones

cancer was born within of these blood ties

now out of the darkness

You must thrive in the Light

For all to behold the Champion of Deceit.....

Once Upon a Happenstance

Once upon a happenstance
I gazed, a look, and paused in trance

To dream upon a crystal palace
Her heart aglee and form to chalice

With towers true and field in view
I set a course to give tongue to

I crossed the field - anxiety smote
And walked upon this palace mote

Yet, as I firmed, my heart to pour
She drew the bridge and bolted door

The Cellar

Dark and dank
It smells of earth and lies
Secrets buried below its surface
Cobwebs of secrets spun decades ago
Pain and suffering pushing at it
Trying to spew forth into the light
Bolted and locked away it will not remain
Pushing outward, it longs to be
The cellar door will not longer hold it
Break it open
Release the truth and you will be free

Safe At Home

We’re still half a world away
from bombs.
We’ve bolted our doors
and rigged alarms
for burglars.

So there’s no need to listen
to the winds that gather
about the house, a whisper-
conspiracy of sky
and overhanging trees,
this rainstorm lullaby.

Oh, but
when we’re suddenly wide
awake in the dark,
who’s that neighbor
come knocking?

Door To Love

What lies behind it, Dare I take a look and see. Looks very old, uncared for, What secrets does it hide, Nothing here but a broken heart Left bruised and broken Lonely without hope and love Now firmly locked and bolted Key thrown away for good No one can cross the threshold now. Reality's Fear

Should I abandon reality's fear?
Open the sky and unlock it clear?
My little gold keys are all I can hear.
Imagination is a dimension,
That twists and warps all singularity.
I find a hallway of bolted down doors,
There is no staircase, but a hundred floors.
Spacing out on rolling, green ocean shores...
I separate myself from five senses.
Reaching for eternity and my soul--

The Third Mist

Love is a lavender mist
loosening sealed windows
gliding through key holes of bolted doors
melting frost from the heart
placing it in a nest of warmth
where a chorus of miracles lie.

Two times in my life
I've inhaled this miracle mist,
slaying one with my ego
the other slaying me with hers.
I'm still waiting for the third mist
to thaw the chambers of this
dormant volcano heart.

Boundage

Dedicated to a Nun that was raped by a Hindu gang in Orrisa in India.

Bondage dawdles but dauntless rambler.
Glimmers as goblin a goblet gambler.
A heartburn glory chalks a chandelier.
A granite lineage outdistanced gondolier.

Responsive restitution a splitter sponger,
Guttural estuary grumbles bounded cavalier.
A bony strangled receptacle receiver,
Keynote bolted storm violate believer.

Flowers Rain Shadows

                               flowers
                        choke up water,
                   the petals that drop flat
                rain quits my photosynthesis —
I believe only glasses with bouquets,
my tears camouflaged by right stems,
they run in my faucet —
                    ~ rain bolted, ~ leaves,
                               flowers
