Surrender

Slam.
Closed, the door locked,
bolts bolted,
window sash fused,
window sash fused.

Vehement and implacable,
the wind scowls
gouging an inescapable path,
splitting and cracking,
branches ache,
binds break,
white flag quivers.

Why resist?
surrender!
