The softness of night, crushed
in morn's vice
having lingered too long
before dawn
Listen to poem:
alone uncovered exposed
way out there
deep in the night
well before dawn
dew forms on you
painting you into the picture
moonlight lifts stone’s breath
shadows fold into their names
a single spark remembers
what the dawn has yet to claim
Awake before dawn
The night's Boogeymen retreat
Into daytime rest.
Television news
Fearmongers quickly step in
To fill up the void
Sh up before dawn —
darkness permeates my bed
where I cannot sleep
inbreathe the static of night
change of time trammels my dreams

What if I woke up before dawn?
Seen you lying next to me?
And just left!
Would you welcome me back?
Or would you rather?
Just carry on watching T,V?
A star aglow
in the dark before dawn
an alert,sure and certain
a light,perpetual..perhaps
unless cut-off
curtailed..
extinguished...
forever
forgotten
Quiet moments
stolen under
the moonlit sky.
Frogs and crickets
sing their gentle songs.
Dew kisses the lawn.
All is peaceful
in the silence
before dawn.
A maple tree lawn,
The dark, before dawn,
The golden ball sinks in the sea,
A jug of moon wine,
The night of the lion,
Not all of the children are free.
Form:
Ever held a wish
in your hand, ever
held a dream in
your arms. Ever
kissed a star just
before dawn, ever
seen the sunlight
in her eyes. Ever
been in love.

Moonlight—
Captures their fate
Dread sight
Dawn breaks
Bugle beckons
Hand shakes
Death waits
Behind a cloud
Devastates
Time sits in the flame of the brief candle
The poem you want to write
Please do before dawn comes

Not For Contest
It's black before dawn.
Sitting here, feeding a fawn.
Fish in a river, spawn.

Actual poetry form is Pensee
stillness
earth holds its breath
while all of nature awakens
there's a soft glow, dew kissed petals
waiting for the sunrise
O' golden light that shines so bright,
just right before dawn.
O' the tall pines
of golden times.
O' the early of morn.
Tip toe across the sound,
as not to disturb
the word born.
Before dawn
the rainbow night
reveals itself
Invisible colors
and a dim hope
of salvation beckons
The moon and stars
exist only for themselves
My questions have no answer
I watched the moon at zenith height
admiring the gracefulness of her glow
Darkness lingered in stygian shadows
before Dawn awakened the sleeping sun
Another daybreak, and I am still awake
Darkness
A locus for expression of tears
Muffled thoughts grow vociferous
Suppressed emotions arise uprighteous
Societal demands and self interests lock horns
only to be put to rest before dawn
African heat
Burning as smoke, brief relief
Come early, before dawn, see egrets
Dawn dew or drizzle baptizes me
Evaporation quickly removes signs of relief
Father God knows all; Africa will rise
Monroe was always up before dawn got too deep
cookin' coffee and bacon while we're still asleep
When five o'clock rolled around he'd ring that damn bell
Many a morning I'd liked to send him to hell
Sigh deeply or just cry
Pluck pain’s deep roots inside,
All expressions released
Distress and our anguish
Loosen dark evening's grip,
Bitterness drops and flows
A comfort before dawn.
It begins before dawn
a groan beneath the sheets,
a crack of bone and will,
the clock tells you….
“Hey, Get up. Be a man.”
The floor is cold,
so is the coffee, chill!
but there’s work
always work to do
Make My Mortal Pain Mariniated
What a wonderful thing God had celebrated;
Before dawn thought about man and waited;
With men are cursed;
He then had a thirst,
Women made first with mortal pain marinated.
