Lament For a Lost Love
She no longer speaks to me
Since I went and stroked her knee
Being carried away
During afternoon tea
When she went and stole my heart
With beef and two veg
And treacle tart...

As I sip my afternoon tea, my grand-child runs into the house… “Grand-ma!”

Over Tea
When ladies doll up for fun
Over afternoon tea,
My rosy pots brew of laughter
Cups sipping flavored gabs,
When ladies doll up for fun.

Premium Member Stirring My Afternoon Tea
Sitting here stirring my afternoon tea
Earl Grey is my favourite so that it must be
With fragrance of bergamot filling the air
Recollections at Grandma's house takes me right there
She'd brew up a pot and serve cookies and cake
or sometimes a cadbury's chocolate flake
So that's why Earl Grey is my first choice of tea
For it brings back dear memories of Grandma and me

Have a cup of tea
Invite who you may in
Provide some cake as well
Stored in that Christmas tin

An afternoon well spent
Some friends around for tea
Sharing the worries and joys
Not even costing a fee

How the time’s gone
Where the company’s so sweet
The last thing to remember
A time again to meet

An afternoon just spent
Brings comfort to some poor soul
Who may need an encouraging word
To aid them in life’s goal

Bliss, I Think
Grand declarations of love,
Afternoon tea;
Hidden bookshops in the crevice of a pretty avenue,
And begonias in hanging baskets.
Walks along cobbled streets;
Walks in the moonlight,
Sunday nights-
With the stars reflecting on the surface of a beautifully unblemished lake;
The soft rustle of the trees as a soft summer breeze dances through the leaves,
The sounds of the city drifting to sleep in our wake.
Your hand in mine.
Bliss, I think....

UNIVERSE COLLIDING
universe colliding, waiting for the end
the fate of the universe might be determined by its destiny
for this is the end but the beginning of something beyond ourselves
preoccupied in its beauty are glistening eyes

i remember the thoughts i had
over the afternoon tea
the universe was ending
but it did not seem so to me
i only awaited for opportunity
because that's all i would know and see
not that the universe was ending in the eyes of me...

Premium Member Vickys Afternoon Tea
Ms. Ogre Moose was happy to come to afternoon tea
She enjoyed Victorian Vicky who was lovely to see.
They did not speak the same language but got along fine
Laughing at their men who were silly on cranberry wine.

It’s a great day for a walk, Ms. Ogre Moose told her host.
I’d love to come along, except you have not eaten your toast.
The browned bread was handed over; they exchanged a smile.
It’s a fine day for a walk, Vicky said, walking her guest a half mile....

Premium Member The High Cost of Eating
Why do we have to eat anyway?
It’s only a habit we picked up
Long ago when we were babies
Blame it on Mommy
She started it, after all
And now we can’t stop
We can’t get away from it
Breakfast . . . lunch . . . dinner
Mid-morning snack
Afternoon tea
Midnight munchies
It never ends
Eating is a necessary evil
It makes us fat
It makes us sick
It drains our bank accounts
Nothing good comes of it
A momentary pleasure, that’s all.
My advice?
Take a vitamin!...

One More Try
All of my attempts have failed
Everyone can see
My plans were so detailed
But I still have my afternoon tea

Could I give it one more go
Would anybody even care

I know I am a mess
I've tried to be better
I'll just pick my favorite dress

I'll try to leave tomorrow
I hope it works this time

Would it matter at all
I'm on my knees
I know how to crawl

No need to remind me
I'll give it one more try
I'll become one with the sea
Maybe then I'll fly

Premium Member Loving Florence
her fantastical stories raised the hair on my chest
I am a girl and she gave me her wholesome best
her life was colorful which she did not mind sharing with me
I visited her Iowa farm house daily in the summer for afternoon tea

she told me tales children should not really hear
but I kept them to myself, for I loved this story-telling dear.
her name was Florence, and her outrageous stories were the best.
She had goats in her house, a nonconformist without societies test....
