The humbling of a false saviour

If there is a god and he does exist 
No matter what he has to say it wouldn't mean a thing 
An apology is long overdue
But now it's far too late
You abandoned black people
And for that I feel for you nothing but hate

It begs the question of your intentions 
With the world with your actions

Us be grateful for what?

Let them eat cake
But with no hands 
And a mouth sewn shut
Why us 
Why must we suffer with crumbs
And be grateful

To be grateful when slavery ended
When in fact it was they who started it
To feed us poison instead of the antidote
Then feign confusion to why it didn't work
The world sees you as a victim 
And

They gave us a gun and called it freedom

And yes talking to you white liberals
This 'white saviour' act you've got going on

Two Pieces of Wood

From trees that grew somewhere
Cut down and then sawn
A carpenter chose two pieces of wood
One short and one long.

He joined them together
In the shape of a cross
For another good carpenter
Whose life would be lost.

On that cross, crucified,
Jesus, nailed hands and feet

From Black Friday to Christmas Eve,
presents to purchase and wrap. 
Office and family parties, visits to relatives
platters of food and gallons of alcohol.
Trees dressed to the nines in dangling baubles
and twinkling lights.
Continuous Christmas carols blaring from radios
and loud speakers.
Wreaths and decorations to adorn tables,
night stands, credenzas, book shelves.
