Saviour Poems

The humbling of a false saviour

If there is a god and he does exist
No matter what he has to say it wouldn't mean a thing
An apology is long overdue
But now it's far too late
You abandoned black people
And for that I feel for you nothing but hate

It begs the question of your intentions
With the world with your actions

Us be grateful for what?

Let them eat cake
But with no hands
And a mouth sewn shut
Why us
Why must we suffer with crumbs
And be grateful

To be grateful when slavery ended
When in fact it was they who started it
To feed us poison instead of the antidote
Then feign confusion to why it didn't work
The world sees you as a victim
And

They gave us a gun and called it freedom

They gave us a gun and called it freedom
So when you tell me you care
I dont believe you
Your performative allyship
And yes talking to you white liberals
This 'white saviour' act you've got going on
You can end it
And stop pretending
Let's call it what it is
It's your guilt manifesting as being seen as 'progressive'
But really it's just you

Two Pieces of Wood

From trees that grew somewhere
Cut down and then sawn
A carpenter chose two pieces of wood
One short and one long.

He joined them together
In the shape of a cross
For another good carpenter
Whose life would be lost.

On that cross, crucified,
Jesus, nailed hands and feet
Our precious Saviour,
Crucifixion complete.

Triumph Over Death

He came for humanity's sake,
Preaching love, not disunity's ache.
A pillar strong, a tower high,
He healed the oppressed, the devil's sigh.

Declared his fate, arrest, and death,
Yet on the third day, he'd find new breath.
Conquering death, the world's despair,
He arose, putting shame to crafty snare.

No need for evidence to quell my doubt,
My conviction stands, unwavering without.
Fully persuaded,

My soul in tensed darkness

As my soul floats in tensed darkness,
My heart beats in lifeless starkness,
A faint hope pierces my despair,
As my knees glued firm to prayer.

I soared with sour taste of my sores,
My favours, all burned to vapours,
Poverty beckoned with stern stare,
As my knees glued firm to prayer.

Friends stayed far to gloat my sorrow,
Night stretched long, no hope

The Real Christmas

From Black Friday to Christmas Eve,
presents to purchase and wrap.
Office and family parties, visits to relatives
platters of food and gallons of alcohol.
Trees dressed to the nines in dangling baubles
and twinkling lights.
Continuous Christmas carols blaring from radios
and loud speakers.
Wreaths and decorations to adorn tables,
night stands, credenzas, book shelves.
Lights hung in strings so large

Saviour of America

Blessed are the pure of heart
Who is pure of heart, I ask
It's a man who works everyday
Cleaning the Washington swamp
Everyone before and now
For Trump is Alpha and Omega
Saviour of America
We are saved
A new beginning
Amen!

Blessings For Me

The hands of who I can't see
Brings blessings for me
Soft and fragile love
Brought by the one who is worshipped
My lord and my saviour
My ultimate piece
Of a puzzle of life
Destined to be complete after a lifetime
Such is this existence
Such is this emotion.

Saviour Complex - Free Verse

In the absence of love,
a childhood is shaped by the stars,
but when black smoke is the only impression in the light,
sorrows peel in soundless motions - slow burning.

When fate is sealed with a goodbye,
in an 'all I never asked for' moment,
the weight of fear appears as a niggling nightmare
in our

Out Lurking

There's demons out lurking,
The night terrors start.
With God's wrath upon them,
They'll quickly depart.

Alone in the darkness,
Shines only moon light,
The people are sleeping,
Not one soul in sight.

There's demons out lurking,
They're haunting our dreams.
While tossing and turning,
Only God hears the screams.

The evil surrounds us,
With each passing day.
There's nowhere to turn,
So God makes a

Saviour of the Butterfly

On a dark, melancholic night,
she sat completely still.
Earnest.
Head up,
eyes frozen,
lips sealed,
breath silenced,
hands crossed,
ankles shackled,
heart blindfolded,
brain screaming nonsense,
occupied with millions of thoughts
Loud and monotonous.

Everybody had told her
to stop listening to her heart;
that emotion,
though fluid, has to be caged;
though wild, has to be tamed.
Her skin cracked in protest,
and a white butterfly
with

All of us are in a wilderness
a maze that holds us down
but there's good news for you
there's one to take away your frown

Jesus Christ has come here for you
taking on our earthly frame to wear
even our sins He's put on His body
taking it to the cross to be laid bare

This Jesus died with all our
