Sasha: the Zuze

Humbly;
With no disrespect,
Or ill manner;

Were I Jesus,
I’d build my church on her!

Simon Peter would deny me thrice,
But I could rely on her. I can.
She’s never let me down.
So, on her I’d build my church,
The foundation;
She’d be my rock.

And in her I’d plant my seed,
Assured; come harvest, I’ll reap!

Whatever you may think of this,
Precisely, it is as I mean!

The Great Dying

Saša Milivojev

THE GREAT DYING

THE PESTILENCE

It’s raining snake venom
from the clear blue skies,
millions of bacteria,
stench of excrement,
genes of mice and rats,
lead powder dust, quicksilver droplets,
on the planet of the “reptiles”
piles of human corpses.

They poisoned God no less,
and all else is vague,
Here comes hunger and agony,
rabies, AIDS and plague.

Put your mask on.
Lock up your doors.
Street is not the place to be,
The horror is outdoors,
the devil has come,
to take you to the camp,
the great dying has begun.

Prepare to retaliate!

Below the camp they are harrowing
it’s gas chambers they’re preparing.

And I am stealing time,
blood-soaked to my knees,
to defend myself with explosives,
as the fool once said:
“Graveyards will be too small for us all”.

Even on the verge of the abyss, no less,
in the face of pestilence be fearless,
someone will remain,
children will be birthing just the same,
Thy will be done,
noone can extinguish the Sun.

The Stranger

Saša Milivojev

THE STRANGER

(Weary of World’s Pain)

Stranger to the audience.
Stranger in the community and the family.
A stranger to one’s own mother,
A shadow to one’s own shadow,
A foreigner in the country of one’s own,
in every land he has been in
In the town he was born in
Abandoned by hope
in every town worldwide
on every planet one could find.

A worldwise vagabond,
With disheartened face,
targeted by murderers and madman alike
Across distant deserts and seas
Windbourne with no goals or dreams.

Betrayed by everyone,
Abandoned tranquilly
“friends” fiends,
He has forgiven them,
Perished to the infinite
Never to be back again.

For noone will ache,
love or forgive,
man is a machine with nothing to give.

All life in one suitcase
unsettled, macabre
soaring across dreary universe
homeless, roofless,
with no dreams or aim,
weary of World’s pain.

A Message After Death

Saša Milivojev

A MESSAGE AFTER DEATH

And I have died,
in antiquity,
and noone ached for me.
Some rejoiced,
young as I was, as I bled on the cross,
drenched in blood, in agony.

Not a single tear rolled down for me,
when they nailed my bones to yew,
the dzelats were singing sneeringly.
and I was smiling, forgivingly.

In that life so brief,
in that cauldron of hell
in the tarnished jaws
I begged for love with poetry,
fruitlessly.

And as I have perished
to all I have forgiven,
soaring to Third Heaven.

Into the mountains of crimson jade,
Barefoot with the angels I stroll,
It is raining milk and honey
on the squares of the city of gold,
just as it did before.

Here, there is no pain and misery,
resentment and poverty, fear and sin,
by the beautiful streams,
sweet fruits are blossoming,
here, love is always waiting for you
when you come to stay from far, far away.

Sasha began to close
She felt her legs buckle
She was now on the ground
in a fetal position

Her breathing came faster
She could feel a heartbeat in her throat
Bare and exposed
She tried to retain
A tiny sliver of her former self

Fingers clawed at her.
They were all trying to take another piece.
Family and friends, for she was their rescuer.
When they needed anything, she was their go-to woman.
Sasha closed tighter, her skin began to bruise and welt.

They all wanted a piece of her; demanded it.
She had already given all she could, more than she should have.
There was nothing left.
No joy, no happiness, only sadness.
Her hair dipped over her sorrow, concealing her pain.
She wanted to be alone, demanded it.

New Oath

Saša Milivojev - NEW OATH

(I swear) by the Sun and the light
And the Moon in its wake
And the Day that brought it in sight
And concealed when it was by the Night
I shall give you to nobody
Devoted I shall be to thee
I shall love you eternally
To leave you, never will I
Swear by the constelations and the Sky
And God it was asembled by
And Earth for even He made it to be
And the Spirit that created He
I shall give you everything
For you I shall live
Verses I'll write for thee
Of love crazy
And I swear by the stars
That are hiding, wandering
And from sight escaping
And the Night when your whipe your tears away
And the morn when you respire
Kisses of mine shall
Wake you tenderly
Forever, even when we cease to be.

Sleepwalking

Saša Milivojev - SLEEPWALKING

Silent
The Skies are silent
The Moon awakes me
The Night gently embraces me
You are no longer on the shore
Where with salt ourselves we smeared
Dreamed and to the Sea we used to croon
Oh, my Beloved,
Unfold
For me the stairs of the Moon
Plush toys I shall scatter
Down our dunes of sand
The memories are calling me
Wait for me

The Healer

Saša Milivojev - THE HEALER

Close your eyes and listen to the

Sky

Receive light

Through my body

Sky

The stars’ entire light

Is absorbed by your body

From burning hands

The endless warmth

Is so beguiling

Ice Age

Saša Milivojev - ICE AGE

An endless plate of ice

The camel carries me

Treading heavily

Icy tears from sobbing splutter

It stumbles

Over the tips of the pyramids

Weeping

The soul is wrenched

My firefly is not here

At nine

As it once was

The Firefly and the Wind

Saša Milivojev - THE FIREFLY AND THE WIND

Thunder rumbles

The poles melting

Waves crashing

Towns sinking

I prayed to heaven

The wind has extinguished you

I will go barefoot on ice

Freeze myself going after you

My love

Volcano

Saša Milivojev - VOLCANO

Below the naked sky

A hole is seething

An avalanche is boiling

The sun is melting away

Who protects you

From the burning rain

Now that you are gone

When the Firefly Is Gone

Saša Milivojev - WHEN THE FIREFLY IS GONE

The tide shies away from the sand

Under the dark clouds

Someone is waiting

The lyre is calling for it

To fly down and shine

Fiery wires

Weave soft sentences

The water is still now

It’s turned to oil

The light speck has gone away

The lyre has fallen silent

And the shore remains deserted

Forever

On a Kilim

Saša Milivojev - ON A KILIM

I trembled when you were gone

Away from the terrors of time

Metal and synthetics

In the Near East

I float on a kilim

Down a gusting wind

Allah

Raises dust

Water, closer

The smoke of a hookah

That’s what we are

Shhh

Something's breathing

It’s me

It’s you

We are lost

Sunset

Saša Milivojev - SUNSET

God is sleeping
I hug the sun
In the orange sky
The magnet is playing
Orange hookah
The muddy water of the Nile
A secret
An echo of silence is heard
Fingers on lips
A thought
Pyramid in the chest
Shiny steel
A touch
Like a mummy
I fell asleep
Eternally
Among red corals
And God is awakening

A Cry

Saša Milivojev - A CRY

Apollo’s discus
Fine blond hair
The echo of the universe
The strong winds of Zephyr
The sun’s heat
Melted the wax wings
And I fall again
Why am I not a shadow
To be torn into two pieces
In the air
Why do I not have an apple instead of a heart
To have an arrow driven through it
Why is uncertainty so agonising
Let the blade cut the neck
A curse
A choir is singing
Purple colours of dreams
A verse fallen from the lips
The thirst of withered lilies
From whose petals
We will hear a woeful
Cry
