TV Input – HELP
Perhaps a right of passage
or a males destiny
controlling the remote
always seemed just right to me.
Skillful flicking fingers
fast on the keys
scanning thru the channels
and with great dexterity.
Change to other stations
commercials gotta go
such a star on the clicker
a real surfing pro.
It's of course my opinion
but these words I extol
all's right in my world
when I have remote control!
With a remote control
Everything may be at your fingertips
But not human rights
Man with wisdom is difficult to control
Bribery and scandal will be questioned
A peaceful demonstration may occur
Protesting
For human rights and justice
The country is neither under one person
Nor controlled by the only remote control
Called hegemony
But under the whole people's rights
But under God's protection
But under one's conscience
If any
With a single click
Everything is at your finger tips
Good enough for the oldies
Who stagger and stumble
But not for the crawlers and toddlers
A wrong click will end their world
But not for the youngsters
Depleting them chances of learning and valueing
The processes of yielding
And everyone is scared of
The single click of nuclear wars
That may end the earth and the universe
And this may be a limit to
The greatest vandalism of mankind
The greatest greed of mankind
The greatest hegemony of mankind
As man can never live alone
Maybe without competitions and confrontations
It's Saturday eve
we're drinking in town
Only joking, I wish.
We're still in lockdown.
Any inkling of romance
on pause until further notice.
Making plans for the future
feels utterly hopeless.
We were all on fast forward
and the world blew a fuse.
Burying our heads in the sand,
disregarding the news.
Forced to stop
and re-evaluate life.
Beneficial for all
though the stress has been rife.
With no option to rewind
all we have is hindsight.
But we're sick of these rules
our patience is finite.
For now, we press play
and take joy in what we can.
I just really hope they lift
the bar and restaurant ban.
we are all just channels
in the grand screen of things
Where do remotes go, is what I,
in aggravation ask?
Mine must have feet and to find
them is a most frustrating task.
Hiding under a magazine or my cat
lying on it, hatching one like an egg?
I have tried many methods, but I swear,
mine all have their own tiny legs.
Do they get together at night and have
meetings to strategize?
I think they really do, those teeny monsters,
is what I do conceptualize!

Remembering all the many years
we called on you to drop your fears.
Audits we said you would not fail
if signature were by email.
And invoices in copies sent
would not end up with noses bent.
We screamed paperless for so long
and all it took was a viral song.
You said we’d never work from home
Doing conferences by phone,
or Zoom which we had for a decade.
You stifled every sensible upgrade.
Then once the threat got up in your face
In two weeks the undoable was in place.
I was the horizontal and the vertical
I was the light and dark on black and white
I was the picture flipper controler
I was the sound controller
I went up and down
I was the rabbit ears that fix the picture
I was the waiter to bring him beer
I have lost sight of you once again.
Frustrated, I search every nook, every corner, every crevice that you have been known to hide.
I call for you, but my efforts are to no avail.
Without you I am a creature without choice,
A wretch with no power to make change.
So I will wallow in the consequences of my absent minded nature, for i have forgotten where I left you.
It seems as though i am forced to reckon with watching this program on ABC family until i shrivel and choke,
and return to the soil.
The dude who invented the remote control certainly was a genius!
I can surf the TV from the comfort of my Lazy-Boy - 'tis so ingenious!
But even with this technological marvel I still have a complaint.
Why is it that the illusive remote is usually where I ain't?
Robert L. Hinshaw, CMSgt, USAF, Retired
I’m much too tired
To get up
And change the channel
And though this infomercial
Isn’t something
I really want to watch
It fills in the time
I guess I’m too lazy
And too damned broke
To buy new batteries
For the remote control
So I’ll just lie here awhile
And keep pressing the buttons
Until this thing either works
Or I eventually
Fall asleep
I am sitting inside my smart TV set
with my wireless remote control
and I can’t seem to get my wireless remote control
to work for me
can someone out there
please keep on changing the channels for me
to something else
When t.v. programs start to bore
I flip through the stations a little more
But which remote do I use?
There are so many from which to choose.
T.V., stereo, D.V.D. too,
Then which button? - there are quite a few
All this confusion is taking its toll
Since the remote has lost its control!
I'm not really a poet
I've never claimed to be
The only reason I'm even here
Is because I can't watch my tv
My wife hid the remote control
About a year or so ago
So I'm just here killing time
Til I can watch my favorite show
I've been told many things
About something they call "the flow"
I don't even know what that is
Unless i'm typing too slow
Then they say watch "the meter"
Well, I don't even own a car
So if it's something to do with parking
I think that's kinda bizzare
They talk about "a syllable count"
But I guess nobody knows
That I can only count to twenty
If I use all my fingers and toes
One more thing they say a lot
Is something about "a rhyme"
Kinda like them bedtime stories
That mama read all the time
I just wanted to tell you this
In case, you didn't know it
I just want my remote control
Cause I'm really not a poet
