The kids are just fine
On this Wednesday eve
Our lives intertwine
Until one takes leave
On this Wednesday eve
We huddle in the waste
Until one takes leave
From this bombed-out place
They’re readied for school
Packed up for the day
Ballet class in tule
Then we hurry away
Packed up for the day
The evacuations begin
Then we hurry away
From the siren’s din
Distraught by expectations
Life’s daily demands
Guiding child’s aspirations
Mold their lives in our hands
Life’s daily demands
From missiles, we flee
Mold lives in our hands
As we dodge the debris
We discuss the whole day
Watch the news, sip our wine
In lands far away
We witness war’s crimes
Huddled in lost places
We assess the whole day
Do they hear us, or see us, or know us
In lands far away?

Capitalists sell prayers and hope
From China, PRC, to you and me
In images and words: forward these
To all your contacts - such positivity
Yet we hear, embedded spyware
Comes with readymade China prayer
To Jesus or more often, "the Universe"

LORD, I owe my all to thee
My two children from a first marriage
And my current, S. African family
Blended families have challenges
Yet, You allow us all to share (Time)
- often at the last minute, LOL
As some youth seem to upset a schedule
To see they still have "love & first place" -
Jesus, help our youth, parents, guardians
Without thy Hand, we will fail more
In duty, stewarship, responsibility
To people, planet, parents-to-be
Bless this Day, this year; save us, purify us for GLORY ( amen)
One pastor spoke against "fwd-ing" messages
From WhatsApp, without knowing the source
In prayer, the character of the intercessor
Is as important as Trinity, God, subject of PRAYER
You've long since given up on me.
although you have never had faith in my abilities.
always a tad bit shy of your approval,
unworthy of your praise,
look at me now...
you must be proud of the winner you've raised
Please forgive me I screwed up,
Lately it seems as though I’ve been doing that a lot.
If I were anyone else, it wouldn’t make a damn
But being exactly who it is, I am
I am expected to be if I know what is good for me
PERFECT
A reflection of you something you have done
Another one of your creations
So, I had better never cause you shame
or be a disgrace to your name
always try my best to be just in case
someone might be watching me

Golden fingers play
Tickle Earths children
Sunrays playing games
Tiny seedlings drink
Sun’s tasty nectar.
The sweetest treats
That they will eat
Earth’s minerals
Feed their bodies.
When you see
Fresh veggies
Full and ripe.
Thank Sun
And Earth.
Eat.

20th April 2018
Only a toddler, self strewn upon the Walmart floor like paper
To be swept up from its tantrums against a cuddling breast
And I saw tomorrow like a Pisa leaned on old men in distress
The error is not in them, but in the fruit brought to the table soon
Who called every dew that drenched the dawn a bitter tear
And rot the root of the breaking bud compensating for drought
A fruiting tree needs dry season to hold the blossoms firm
Mothers need tomorrow as reason little toddlers squirm
For every child is fresh foundation for the future of our years
I received a cheque for three thousand pounds
For not rearing fifty pigs!
I laughed and I cried, I was aghast, so
I danced a little jig!
The difficulty is…. not knowing how
You keep a detailed account?
Of the pigs not reared in any one month,
It could be a large amount!
So I wrote and asked which pigs not to rear
Was it bacon or porkers as well?
Gloucesters and Saddlebacks were both rare breeds
As far as I could tell!
Do I get a large bonus for not rearing these?
Put me down for a hundred a night.
In six months or so a millionaire I’d become:
I won’t put up much of a fight!
