Modern Day Macbeth

A mother walks through bullets for bread
A child through shellfire for a sip of grain
Young girls bleed in corners quietly
Toddlers die in mothers' arm from thirst.

This is the plot, world is writing on,
Poets, presidents, painters even parrots
all scribbling words on rubbles and ruins.

An aid truck hums like ice cream van
drawing children to their deaths.
Graves are homes, morgues have IV drips
beeping machines mourn louder than mothers.

This is the setting, leaders are banking on.
Protestors, professors, publishers even pilgrims
all parading pain for policies and propaganda.

Camera's click as children chase compassion
Aid drops flutter like dying doves
every countable rib is a bestseller,
Prime time feeds on man-made famine.

This is the climax, audience is locked on
Photographers, producers, preachers even podcasters
all packaging pain for premieres and praise.

This is the modern-day Macbeth where power demands
we slit our conscience to wear crowns.
Guilt is a graveyard and every prophecy is screaming
from scorched soil to sear our souls.

In Defense of Reason

Pickety, Snickety
Reason A. Goodwin is
using a lexicon
to check the word

Reason’s a champion
alphaclopediack.
Not ev’ry intern can
find what is heard.

Reason A. Goodwin, the editor of World Book Encyclopedia Dictionary,
was paid good money as a judge on the original Password Game Show.
The first time he used his dictionary to look up a word - the producers
commented that we could have paid any 'staffer' to do that.

Idanre's Ancient Charm

I venture forth, an explorer true,
Seeking knowledge, with heart anew.
Idanre's hills, a treasure to behold,
Ancient secrets, yet to be unfold.

The people, industrious, with hearts of gold,
Welcomed me, with stories untold.
Their cocoa farms, a lush, green sight,
I harvested with them, under the sun's warm light.

Their water, a natural blessing, pure and fine,
Quenched my thirst, and revived my mind.
A healing spring, with powers to restore,
A gift from God, forever in store.

Idanre's hills, a tourist's delight,
A haven for nature, in all its might.
Longevity and prosperity, God's blessings true,
Reflect in the people, with hearts anew.

Their men and women, handsome, beautiful, and strong,
Beholders of beauty, with hearts that belong.
Producers, problem solvers, with a spirit so bright,
United in ceremony, with love and delight.

What is Ukraine's war really for?
How about funds from rare earth ore
Hear Lynsey Graham shout
"We'll keep Putin out!"
And stash trillions in our cash drawer

Ukraine has 0.4% of the Earth’s surface but about 5% of the world’s mineral resources. Ukraine is one of the world's top 10 titanium producers, ships iron and steel products to Europe, and has ambitions to become a key supplier of the critical minerals Europe needs to meet its electrification targets and cut reliance on Russian energy.

Premium Member The First King Size Bed

The first king size bed was fashioned nearly two-thousand years ago,

Not by Thomasville, Broyhill or Bassett, producers that we all know.

There was no pillow-top mattress made by Sealy or Simmons for the bed,

Nor a chenille bedspread or foam pillow upon which to lay His head.

The bed was not located in a cozy Hampton Inn or Embassy Suites,

But in a lowly stable with a bed of straw sans snowy-white sheets.

The first king size bed was a simple manger for a royal destined to rule!

Born was the King of Kings whose birthday we celebrate this Joyous Yule!

The spirit of the old west
a cowboy of song
He sings a pleasant tenor on the world and its wrongs

And he lifts up the spirits when he sings of what's gone right
and he's cheered this game producers days and her nights

He explains his profession in the most basic ways
and he teases and conjoles and flirts and has his say

He's clearly a boss man on his own large spread
but he meets her in cyberspace to laugh and share a thread

We talk about the state of the world, the simple things
the things that bring us strife
and we talk about music and the sorrows of past life

And we speak about the challenges of our every day
and he makes me laugh and think so fast
And cares melt away

Distraction, attraction, laughter and mental rapture
soulmate best friend energy there
I challenge this man to remain my friend
to have and hold on the physical plane

Cause cyberspace is fun and all, but I would rather be fly fishing
or riding horses in the back 40 and singing cowboy poetry

The Scene Was Well Set

The scene could not have been better set,
All it required was for two uncontrolled elements to arrive,
On set at the same time,
For the world to head towards catastrophe on a global scale,
That may not be reversible.

And so it came to pass that unlimited credit,
Along with unrestricted 24 hour advertising,
Arrived on set together as scripted.

The producers and directors of the show,
Seem to have a winner on their hands,
And have no plans to cancel it any time soon,
With sequels and spin-offs in the pipeline.

Suffer the Childrenz

seggs trafficking is only ' a thing ' when its western world, not southwest asia, Africa and the middle east, is it? and its been going on for centuries but those victims have no voice unless its the subject of a hollyweird movie! and god bless the producers of that piece of sh.t movie. good effort however, they are scraping the surface... you're welcome

Premium Member Dolly Sisters 1945

Betty Grable and June Havner
Brought the Dolly Sisters to Life on the big screen
It was 1945

They should have both had top billing
Somehow John Payne sneaked into the middle of them
in every single promotional advertisement

I think this is a reflection of how women are treated
as second class citizens
Dolly sisters, studio, not Dolly end caps!

I loved the movie, every bit of it
but do not like the way the producers
decided to write up the billing

When I was in my teens
Hollywood set the scene;
Powerful producers called the shots
On manufactured landscaped lots,
Adventure,humour excitement
In simple wholsome movie plots-
Hayward and Mature
Wayne & westerns..for sure,
Russell and Marilyn Monroe,
Hope & Crosby.. with miles to go,
Rogers & Astaire,
Hudson & Day with love in the air-
Just to name a few....
Each Saturday standing in a queue..
Awaiting escape ..to somewhere new.

High time i did their studio voicing
To ignite a genuine rejoicing
Over verses dismissed like Virus
And by Sun Magaz The Mysterious,
Poet making out as The Deleterious.
For all he might seem Boisterous...

But Good Producers gasp for cash,
Here in Nigeria ‘dying to smash;’
Rare knocks at their doors for sought job,
Even as they bear he names like Bob,
Planning to it complete with Marley
Or if it’d trouble cause Barley…

Yet, Reader can The poet’s Voice pick
Theirs quite likelier for The Task click;
Wasn’t there A Dolly Parton’s song
A Whitney Houston’s gave Bigger throng?

Neocolonialism

Neocolonialism
I fell in love
It cost everything
The moment I lost myself
I've heard of wars were people take all you have. The ones you love, The things you like and sometimes even normalness and identity. What does it feel to ache to be normal to be comfortable. Things to be perfect... So that your mind will be sane.
I am dumb
I accept that
Like an illness with no cure
I know how it feels
When I don't know where it will be shot right here
Ohhhh
Too much traumas
Only to realise am on stage
Maybe a comedian
What do these producers want to watch
Hmmm
I am fooled
If the world was one billion
They will tell me there is no life.
If I gave a dream
They will destroy me
An idea
Cost a person
My own is theirs
They steal mine in gazillions
And give me rubbish... A handful and that is the worst love.

I Caught Covid In Spite of My Vaccinations

New York state is paying 20 cents for gloves that normally cost less than five cents, $7.50 for masks that normally go for 50 cents, $2,795 for infusion pumps that normally cost half that, $248,841 for a portable X-ray machine that typically sells for $30,000 to $80,000.

Who's pocketing all this? An array of producers, importers, wholesalers and speculators. State laws against price gouging usually don't apply to government purchases.

Some of it may be finding its way into this fall's election campaigns. The veteran Republican fundraiser Mike Gula and Republican political operative John Thomas just started a company selling coronavirus testing kits, personal protective equipment and other "hard to find medical supplies to beat the outbreak". They call themselves "the largest global network of Covid-19 medical suppliers".

Asked how he'd found such equipment, Gula explained: "I have relationships with a lot of people."

Thomas added: "In politics - especially if you're at a high enough level - you are one phone call away from anybody in the world."

The Reason Behind Reason

a minute poem

My sweetheart had it in his head
when first we wed,
from loving groom
my nom de plume.

The name he calls me, Reason A.,
like cabernet
rolls off the tongue
like music sung.

No rhyme or reason could I find
to reassign
his nickname sworn -
my pen name born.

explanation:
Reason A. Goodwin, an editor of World Book Encyclopedia Dictionary, was a word judge on the original Password Game Show. The producers got upset with him the first time he was called upon to challenge a word, he looked it up in his dictionary. They said, "We could have hired any girl to look up a word."
My husband loved the show and started calling me "Dr. Reason A. Poteet" anytime we argued about things. His favorite expression has always been, "You just never know." to which I always reply, "But you can find out."
